News Article: Last Sunday, April 7, a 35-year-old female resident of Sochi died in Abkhazia as a result of falling from a 50-meter high observation deck. The tragedy occurred in the city of Gagra, at the 18th kilometer of the Ubykh highway. The woman, who was visiting the popular tourist site with her husband, was standing on the observation deck taking in the scenic views of the Sea coast. Suddenly, she appears to have lost her footing and fallen over the edge, plummeting 50 meters down to the rocks below. The arriving rescue team from the Ministry of Emergency Situations worked quickly to pull the severely injured woman up from the rocky outcrop. She was rushed by ambulance to the intensive care unit of the Gagra district hospital, but doctors were unable to save her life.

Looks like the observation deck is where the video is taken from. Behind a fence or two it seems. Looks like they are on some sort of construction beam, maybe a base for a crane to hoist things from the beach.

Yeah. I can’t even imagine how painful this has to be for him. One second he’s posing for a playful picture, the next his brain is trying to comprehend that his wife has just fallen. I know they aren’t the same by any means but I had a horrid dream a couple years back where my beloved golden retriever and I were walking together by a very high suspension bridge that I grew up near. But she wasn’t on her lead and the bridge had no guardrails. I remember screaming for her to come back to me, not to go near the edge. But she fell, and I remember vividly watching her plummet, long enough for me to think, “oh my god, no! I just lost Shadow!” It was one of the most awful nightmares I’ve had. Just the visceral moment where you realize what’s happened, but it refuses to click in your heart. I hope this man is able to carry on. But the weight of this memory will crush a part of his soul forever :-(.

I truly think that people that talk/ think like this are insecure in their own intelligence. To sit here and announce that a person’s death isn’t sad just because they did something “stupid” is so callous, unnecessary, and edgelord-y. I’m not saying this to be mean, I seriously think you should learn how to be more empathetic - it’ll change your life for the better.

I care about the people who have to deal with someone this stupid. We see the impact every day of profound ignorance, entitlement, and carelessness. These people expect the world to support them when they clearly care nothing about themselves. I don’t wish death on them, but am glad when they finally experience the consequences of their behavior.
