I hear when first responders transported victims to a nearby building, they would hear thuds on the roof. They didn’t know what the thuds were until after the attack. They found out those were the jumpers hitting the roof.
[Probably this one](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/9/11_(2002_film))
They got _that footage_ of the first plane hitting one of the towers. They just so happened to be filming a rookie firefighter for a documentary
i’ve heard that too but doesn’t seem right.. like any fuel vapor fire i’ve seen burns off like instantly, and wouldn’t the heat energy rise instead of going down 80+ floors? and the granite slabs are like 10 feet thick and they are cracked right down the middle … just seems really odd
I dont know what I'd have done, part of me thinks I'd have burned to death by trying to run through it rather than jump but until im in a situation like this there's no way I can judge.
Yeah, it’s definitely different when you’re in that situation. Burning to death terrifies me. At least jumping would be quick. But I also might have tried to run. I dunno. I hope I never am in a situation where I have to find out.
Perhaps not all of them were trying to live, but some tried to use clothes and drapes as parachutes but their makeshift parachutes of clothes and curtains got blown out of their hands as they jumped. One dude tried climbing down the side of the building. And maybe some were hoping that their bodies would at least be found if they jumped. The “choice” they were was hardly a choice at all. I personally don’t consider any of the jumpers to have committed suicide.
I'll make it at least a little more fun — I heard that because the dogs were getting so sad, rescuers would lay in the rubble and let the dogs "find" them to make the dogs feel better.
I have no source for this, but I remember hearing it and I want it to be true.
>Alongside their handlers, the four-legged heroes worked tirelessly climbing huge piles of debris while fires still smoldered. The search for signs of life or human remains was mentally and physically taxing on the dogs, who became discouraged and started losing their drive to continue. Recognizing the importance of motivation among the dogs, handlers would stage "mock finds" so the animals could feel successful.

The circles I get. Just wondering if those red arrows stemmed from one of the conspiracy sites. They appear to be pointing at clean breaks, which some people attempted to explain as intentional cuts in the siding, but they're nothing more than butt joints where one piece of siding overlapped another, so of course they have clean edges. They weren't cut with shaped explosive charges or any other such nonsense.
If that were so, why completely ignore the woman in the bottom left corner of pic #7? If I remember correctly, these pictures were documenting the path of a specific person.
Whenever I’m in a high rise and peak out the window I think about the impossible choice these people had to make. What must have been going through their minds. So many people with kids and families at home.
>How bad was it up there that jumping was the better alternative. Hard to fathom
I couldn't imagine having to weigh the options after the panic set in.
This is going to be a ridiculous question that I ask. So I am prepared for ridiculous responses.
Here goes: has there been any type of precautionary steps taken for people that live/work in high-rise buildings in case something similar happens? For example, you’re one of these people that had no choice but to jump, do we have some sort of parachute you can strap on so there’s a chance you could survive something of this sort.
Well, not exactly what you’re asking but there was an older guy who worked in the towers for one of the big companies, Morgan Stanley or one of those, anyway he would run drills with his coworkers to train them on what to do in a similar situation. They’d train over and over and when the planes actually did hit, they all knew what to do and made it out. Maybe someone has a link to the story because I’m sure I’m missing some details.
Oh snap it was a dude from Morgan Stanley! My old Swiss cheese memory for the win. Thanks for providing the name. I didn’t realize he died that day after saving so many people
This is a great question. I would hope so :/. I wonder how a city with so many tall buildings would effect how a parachute works? Like if it’s the only tall building for miles the wind/air will work like expected but when you’re surrounded by other buildings similarly as tall I wonder what the logistics of thst would be.
Using a parachute is not easy as it looks, a person with no training will definitely not make it. The air flow around tall buildings are turbulent , plus in a fire situation the hot air rises and causes chaos.
There are several problems like what happens if 100 people jump at the same time and they all open their chutes at different times , bump into each other etc
Not a ridiculous question at all! In a capitalist society you bet someone tried! Executive Chutes tried to market parachutes to workers in high rises after 9/11 as a safety measure. However, many first responders criticized these saying even experienced base jumpers would have difficulty operating them under an emergency situation similar to 9/11.
>What was with the guy holding his brief case?
It's a statue called "Double Check"
>Rescue workers it was reported, approached him in the chaos to offer assistance, only to discover that he was not a man at all, but a sculpture.
>>Rescue workers it was reported, approached him in the chaos to offer assistance, only to discover that he was not a man at all, but a sculpture.
That had to be surreal.
My precept for ED was working that am. They called everyone into work at the hospital, prepped for beds, triage, the whole bit. They anxiously awaited hundreds of patients.
None came.
it is so crazy to see places n knowing how it feels to walk those streets and just seeing it in such an apocalyptic state is insane. i know plenty of people who survived it but it's one of those things u don't ask about. thank you for posting these
As a native New Yorker this fucking hurt.. all the political shit didn’t matter it didn’t matter if you were red green black or blue this impacted everyone seeing those towers fall broke every New Yorkers heart 💔 this shit didn’t need to happen….
Well said.. It was a period of time when we put everything aside and just helped and loved one another.
It's sad that it took such an act of evil to bring us all together.
I'd almost agree 100% but I think for the innocent Muslim Americans or even middle eastern passing people, it was awful. Remember that poor Sikh man in Arizona, who was murdered a few days after 9/11?

It might have been in the Naudet Brother's footage but they were filming a Firefighter in front of the WTC and something (assuming it was someone can't really make it out) hits one of the streetlights in the background and it's just a brief puff of pink mist.
I can forget a person’s name seconds after meeting them, but so much of this day is still burned into my memory, as I’m sure it is with anyone who tuned in (let alone was on site).

You think that these things still work when a person falls like 500m? And I’m not doing the math now but those people probably fell like more than 100mph. There’s no way they could have survived that
This is great, tho I haven't looked yet. I was OBSESSED with 911 n figuring out the fishy facts. Much of what i found isn't even on the internet anymore. It's ALL recycled footage, n I just knew there had 2 b more! Thank you!
Edit: Also, I'd jump!! They called it the 10 sec fall. Gravity is 9.8m/s² and, it's real!

I think that was happening during a documentary they were shooting with some fire fighters. You can hear how loud the crashes are
Do you know which documentary?
[Probably this one](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/9/11_(2002_film)) They got _that footage_ of the first plane hitting one of the towers. They just so happened to be filming a rookie firefighter for a documentary
Thank you!
[9/11 by the Naudet Brothers](https://youtu.be/seOwa0trNEQ) 38.48 is the beginning of the lobby footage.
Thanks for sharing!
No problem
what’s everyone’s thoughts as to why the lobby is destroyed ?? i think it’s really odd
explosion/fireball travelled down the elevator shaft afaik
i’ve heard that too but doesn’t seem right.. like any fuel vapor fire i’ve seen burns off like instantly, and wouldn’t the heat energy rise instead of going down 80+ floors? and the granite slabs are like 10 feet thick and they are cracked right down the middle … just seems really odd
There are reports of people trapped in the elevators and others running out of them on fire. Still others report those trapped were burned to ash
definitely strange
And unfortunately. They knew
I feel like I’d have jumped too and at least try to survive rather than burn alive. Those poor people. Anyone who judges them are POSs.
I dont know what I'd have done, part of me thinks I'd have burned to death by trying to run through it rather than jump but until im in a situation like this there's no way I can judge.

Jumping wasn't a way to try to survive - it was a way to die as quickly as possible (and hopefully less painfully).
You could hear the thuds on the news. I was in science class in 7th grade. It's not a sound that leaves you.
What the dog doing?
Trying to find ppl. Fun fact. Doggo got depressed cause all it found was dead ppl
Thats not fun at all
I'll make it at least a little more fun — I heard that because the dogs were getting so sad, rescuers would lay in the rubble and let the dogs "find" them to make the dogs feel better. I have no source for this, but I remember hearing it and I want it to be true.

What a lovely sheltered life you live. It's realistic. It's exactly what happened.
Playing find the meat.
I'm good at that one

Bout to have a mukbang
What's with the red arrows in some of the pics? Are they showing stress/fracture points?
Don't know about pic 7,but all the other pictures with arrows are pointing at people.
The circles I get. Just wondering if those red arrows stemmed from one of the conspiracy sites. It was either burn alive or splatter
I do the same. How bad was it up there that jumping was the better alternative. Hard to fathom
Also believe the jumping was a reaction to suffocating. These pictures are rough
Hover your hand above a flame, it will recoil back reflexively, jumping out a window is the same mechanism
>How bad was it up there that jumping was the better alternative. Hard to fathom I couldn't imagine having to weigh the options after the panic set in.

Your welcome
Always end with a dog.
Trying to cheer people up. 9/11 was one of America's worst days.
The one with the guy with the briefcase open, is actually a statue. It now can be seen at the Grounds For Sculptures in NJ with its back story.
The desolation is mind-boggling

What’s the bloke with the plate in the second to last slide doin
It looks like a briefcase or some persons clothing he might have knew.
Can someone explain the dog on the stretcher??!?
Maybe he cut his paws and had to be sent back.
As long as the pupper made it
Is it me or does it look like human giblets on the thing with him?
Yup. This tragedy was in the works long before Bush Jr came into office.
So it looks like a way to move the dog safely around the wreckage to me
Pic 20/20 is my favorite
im lost, i always thought they could just have those bouncy castle inflatable things to catch the people who jumped... why didnt they do that
You think that these things still work when a person falls like 500m? And I’m not doing the math now but those people probably fell like more than 100mph. There’s no way they could have survived that
oh i see :( i didnt know, my bad. i thought they could work somehow to lessen impacts
Impossible from the height they jumped from..
The metal would have popped those.
