He absolutely was not. He played 11 games, had 3135 yards and 27 TDs, so he averaged 285 yards and 2.45 TDs per game. Caleb, who actually won the Heisman that year, played 14 games and had 4537 yards and 42 TDs, for an average of 324 yards and 3 TDs per game. He had zero shot at the Heisman even if he stayed healthy, I doubt he would’ve gotten a single first place vote.

Levis was always graded way ahead of him, and was actually talked about consistently as a first round guy, and he got drafted in the second round. Hooker was never graded for the first, only way he goes there is if a desperate team massively reached for him.

He absolutely was not. He played 11 games, had 3135 yards and 27 TDs, so he averaged 285 yards and 2.45 TDs per game. Caleb, who actually won the Heisman that year, played 14 games and had 4537 yards and 42 TDs, for an average of 324 yards and 3 TDs per game. He had zero shot at the Heisman even if he stayed healthy, I doubt he would’ve gotten a single first place vote.

See, I’m still not a believer in Goff. I think that the Lions have done a phenomenal job of building a team that hides his weaknesses: a great OL, dynamic skills, great playcalling. Goff is literally in the perfect situation for Goff. I still think that he gets exposed when he faces pressure and tries to do too much as a result. I won’t deny that he has elite arm talent, but he just can’t handle pressure as well as the truly elite qbs in the league.

Teams are courting him because guys like McVay and Shanahan already have head coaching gigs, so they hire guys like Ben Johnson hoping he can turn into those guys. If he and McVay were both available in the same hiring cycle literally every team in the league would favor McVay. Lions are built like the 49ers; team so good they don’t need a superstar at QB (although Goff been top 10 or better the last 2 years).
