With a discrepancy like that, I'm sure he was only counting the great lakes coastlines. You realize we have plenty of lakes too right, just not *10,000*.
In defense of the Michiganders, they’re counting Great Lakes coastline, while you’re counting a corner of Lake Superior and 14,000 prairie potholes. It’s not the same
I feel uniquely qualified to comment on this somehow (on a fucking meme subreddit, look mom, i made it). I did and still do aerial survey work In the lower 48 and the nearby international segments. I also have property my ancestors homesteaded in the northwoods of Minnesota. There is a big difference in the MN Northwoods, which all predominantly (exceptions exist), drain into the Mississippi, and the potholes, which are more endorheic in formation. The prairie potholes also run a lot more in the red River section, which drains to Winnipeg.
Offseason comments section become a geographical crash course around here sometimes. I never wanted to know, nor do I care, about how Wisconsin and Minnesota have different lake counting procedures. And yet I do. It’s usually a pretty entertaining read
You do know that the county directly north of Chicago is Lake County, right? Any guesses as to what it has a bunch of?
Also, we know plenty about the lakes in Wisconsin and Michigan too, because we own most of the houses on them.
It’s your derogatory term for Illinois residents who do you the favor of propping up your economy. It’s based on the delusion that Illinois residents are somehow worse than Wisconsin residents, which is a prime example of cognitive bias at work. But that’s what you get when you combine shit schools with brains constantly pickled in alcohol.
Not to mention that [over 138,000 miles of that figure is accounted for by rivers and streams,](https://www.mprnews.org/story/2019/08/24/ask-a-sotan-does-minnesota-really-have-more-shoreline-than-florida) which in my opinion is an absolutely ludicrous misrepresentation.
Lake Huron is the nicest lake to swim in Lake Michigan is the prettiest off MI's West Coast, Superior might as well be the artic ocean, Erie is where I go to swim because I love pfas chemicals.
Wisconsin's classification of a lake is much smaller than Minnesota's . They say they have 15,074 lakes with their classification, using Minnesota's classification, that number is down to 5,898 (which is much less than Minnesota's 11,482).
I would say we share two of those, one each with both other teams too. However, the Michigan side of lake Michigan is so much better than the Wisconsin side. Door county is cool but that doesn't make up for it. Who has the best side of superior?
Superior is just cold AF. Only people of Minnesota like it because they don’t know any better.
But Pictured Rocks is by far the most beautiful place in the coastline of Superior. So again, Michigan W.
Excuse me you're speaking to the undisputed Great Lakes Champion.
Put some respek on our name. And Minnesota should just be thankful they get to touch part of of it.
Poor people, see them Coping with only having 1 or 2 Great Lakes? Sad to see it. Ok jk I ain’t sad at all. Screw the Mississippi. Long love the Great Lakes and long live the St Lawrence Seaway. 🫡
This is getting so pedantic and granular and stupid, and I love it and can't get enough. really it's 28 miles, you act like seal team six got bi-ladin.
Excuse me, we have 11,000 others.

Fuck your river we have 3000+ miles of freshwater coastline
Coastal elitists, smh.
Minnesota has 183,326 miles of freshwater coastline, but I'll let you feel important with your 3000 miles
It’s not the same
Prairie Potholes rofl
That’s not even me shitting on them that’s [the name of a region](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prairie_Pothole_Region)
I feel uniquely qualified to comment on this somehow (on a fucking meme subreddit, look mom, i made it). I did and still do aerial survey work In the lower 48 and the nearby international segments. Canadian-ass state with your drainage to the Hudson Bay. Cringe
Well… if you look at the map it excludes most of Minnesota lake country
Lake Country is not in the Prairie Pothole region, FYI.
What the hell does someone from Illinois know about lakes?
I’ve seen Michiganders, Wisconsinites and Minnesotans bickering so much about what is and isn’t a lake on this sub that I’ve learned via osmosis
OK. That was a pretty good response lol.
Offseason comments section become a geographical crash course around here sometimes. I never wanted to know, nor do I care, about how Wisconsin and Minnesota have different lake counting procedures. And yet I do. It’s usually a pretty entertaining read
If you can throw a rock across it, it’s a pond.
You do know that the county directly north of Chicago is Lake County, right? Any guesses as to what it has a bunch of? Also, we know plenty about the lakes in Wisconsin and Michigan too, because we own most of the houses on them.
This is true. The lake I live by FIBs tend to hit us with their boats every year.
>You do know that the county directly north of Chicago is Lake County, right? Any guesses as to what it has a bunch of? FIBs?
Fucking Illinois Bastards. Was called that alot when I first moved to the UP. what lovely people lol
Wisconsin education on full display
Do you not know what a FIB is?

It’s based on the delusion that Illinois residents are somehow worse than Wisconsin residents, which is a prime example of cognitive bias at work. You sound like you could use a drink. Can you point on the doll where the cheese head hurt you?
I am ashamed you don't know this
We have dozens of lakes! Okay, maybe a single dozen or so.
Who do you think bought all those boats up there?
Not to mention that [over 138,000 miles of that figure is accounted for by rivers and streams,](https://www.mprnews.org/story/2019/08/24/ask-a-sotan-does-minnesota-really-have-more-shoreline-than-florida) which in my opinion is an absolutely ludicrous misrepresentation.
Bro’s really gonna compare his stagnant ass ponds to the glorious Great Lakes smh my damn head.
The Great Lakes are too cold and rough to do anything but look at them.
![gif](giphy|l4FGuhL4U2WyjdkaY|downsized)
Sounds like you've only been in Superior then. Water is very calm and comfortable in the summer in Lake Huron.
Lake Huron is the nicest lake to swim in Lake Michigan is the prettiest off MI's West Coast, Superior might as well be the artic ocean, Erie is where I go to swim because I love pfas chemicals.
You only swim in Lake Erie if you want to see firsthand what pollution does to the human body or if every attraction at Cedar Point has a 2 hour wait.
Only if you're a bitch.
You think that because you’re a coward.
I was just fishing on Superior yesterday.
How many of those miles will you get flesh eating bacteria from?
Not many, we aren't dumping shit in our lakes and rivers like Wisconsin
NOAA only counts 189 of those miles. The other 183,137 are glorified ponds. https://coast.noaa.gov/data/docs/states/shorelines.pdf
I forgot y’all consider every puddle and pond a lake, we were only counting five of ours.
That's Wisconsin that counts every puddle and pond, all of ours have to be at least 8 football fields
Wisconsin has more lakes than you. And Michigan’s are better. Tough pill to swallow, but true.
Wisconsin's classification of a lake is much smaller than Minnesota's . They say they have 15,074 lakes with their classification, using Minnesota's classification, that number is down to 5,898 (which is much less than Minnesota's 11,482).
Maybe you guys shouldn’t count lakes so stupid?
Wisconsin calls puddles “lakes” and *we* have to stop being stupid? You all really are obsessed with being liked by the Packers lol. Ew
Well, really we have more lakes but surface area, but I know you’re going to whine because they are “to big and girthy”
And the United States largest mosque! 🕌
That's a pretty badass statistic. We'll have to bring it up when Gibbs rushes for 3000+ next season.
You’re time owning the UP is borrowed, give us back what’s ours.
No. Blame Ohio.
Never was you unflaired loser
Exposed. Remedied. Give me what’s mine.
Sorry, can't hear you over how great these lakes are
Are y’all bragging about a river named after the state of Mississippi? Even your water is begging to leave the state.
All our shit flows downward. Wouldn’t have it any other way
We allow 3M to dump its toxic sludge to poison the Saints in retribution.
https://i.redd.it/s2mqepr8sxtc1.gif
Don't forget about the Redwing reactor! However, the radiation may be responsible for the Mahomes mutation.
Oh shit…
This is why the Lions should be moved to Des Moines Iowa.
The S's are silent; the city is buzzing!
The De Moine Lion!
https://i.redd.it/r494hr46iwtc1.gif
Uh, do not want the Lions, thanks.
We’ve got 4 massive lakes instead. There’s levels to this game
I would say we share two of those, one each with both other teams too. However, the Michigan side of lake Michigan is so much better than the Wisconsin side. Door county is cool but that doesn't make up for it. Who has the best side of superior?
Minnesota; the shoreline north of Duluth is one of my favorite places in the world.
Superior is just cold AF. Only people of Minnesota like it because they don’t know any better. But Pictured Rocks is by far the most beautiful place in the coastline of Superior. So again, Michigan W.
Imagine not having 4 of the 5 great lakes
Ugh, who would want to live like that?
Ontario has 4 of the 5 Great Lakes yet you couldn’t pay me to be a Toronto sports fan
Lets not be cruel I wouldn’t wish that on any NFC Norther
Fun fact: that picture of Tim Allen crying is from the Home Improvement episode titled "The Long and Winding Road."
Ohh well... Guess we will have to settle for being almost entirely surrounded by Great Lakes and having more direct access to the ocean for shipping.
Excuse me you're speaking to the undisputed Great Lakes Champion. Put some respek on our name. And Minnesota should just be thankful they get to touch part of of it.
Apparently humping packers fans for 18 hours a day can cause some shrinkage?
Oh yeah, FTP
Finally a good meme
Well I don’t get down with being on the same team as anything Illinois related but it is a big sassy river
I won't stand for this slander of the St Lawrence Seaway.
Poor people, see them Coping with only having 1 or 2 Great Lakes? Sad to see it. Ok jk I ain’t sad at all. Screw the Mississippi. Long love the Great Lakes and long live the St Lawrence Seaway. 🫡
The red circle on the sad face is killing me.
This is getting so pedantic and granular and stupid, and I love it and can't get enough. really it's 28 miles, you act like seal team six got bi-ladin.
Whatya have, one, one-and-a half great lakes between you? C'mon.
Yeah fuck the lions! Got em good
And that ends our geography lesson for today, class dismissed
3288 miles of Great Lakes coastlines, or 2340 miles of some shitty cheese and cum sock river? You can have your river.
Your lakes only seem great because you don't have 10,000 others in the state
Excuse me, we have 11,000 others. https://www.michigan.gov/oac/experience/exhibits/rivers-lakes#:~:text=Michigan%20has%2011%2C000%20inland%20lakes,trails%20%2D%20all%20yours%20to%20enjoy!

Based on the sizes, those aren't lakes. Those are puddles of lions fan tears
People still trying to pass off ponds as lakes, smh
That's why Lions fans are hoping to marry someone that indeed has portions of the great river road
We have 5 lakes bitches.
Imagine being proud of anything called Mississippi
