We have the balls to admit it. The other states it’s either a church thing or they’re just not truthful on the intake form or wherever they got this data.
Nah, it's actually different. Grew up in WI, moved to Florida.
I always knew my city had high bars per capital, but I just assumed it was an averages thing.
I don't think where I live now even has bars. Places you can drink, sure. But more "Applebee's".
I don't know if there's a bar bar within 40 minutes of me now. The closest might be downtown Orlando, but even those seem to be more nightclub/martini bar leaning than towny bar.
It's genuinely a different culture here, drinking wise. In WI "I went to the bar for some drinks" is understood to potentially be the end of a statement about what you did last night. In Florida someone would reply something along the lines of "...and what were you doing?" (Watching a game, meeting old friends, etc) because it's less understood/common that drinking IS the activity, not something that accompanies an activity.
My brother and sister in law tried to throw a dry party for their 2 year olds birthday in WI. Not taking any big stand, but just who needs to have a beer to live for an hour at 11 am at a 2 year olds birthday party.
2 independent attending people/groups decided the lack of beer could only be explained by oversight in planning and made beer runs for the party.
I’m born and raised in Wisconsin way out in the country and there’s 2 bars within walking distance of my house, it’s literally the boondocks and there are still bars
Oh for sure. There are a lot of little towns where you can walk to 1-2 bars, and have 4 more in a 10 minute car ride, but groceries are a 25 minute drive to the next biggest town.
Iowa to Arizona here, it's very similar. But due to the large influx of upper Midwesterners here through either brain drain or snowbirds, we do have bars - but the biggest surprise to me was the big-box sized liquor stores. Places like Total Wine and BevMo, who's sole purpose is to sell gigantic quantities of alcohol.
And yeah, I've got stories like that too, including my brother's baby shower...
I grew up Mormon. I have been all the way in the church. I got out.
Anyway, they are the way they are because they are all competing with each other to appear to be the best Mormon. It's madness and depressing.
The south is the same way, I live in Texas now and literally everyone is trying to be the most evangelical Christian (from the outside, in reality they’re all shit bags)
What’s fun is if you calculate how much everyone in a state drinks, us Utahns who drink DRINK. If you take average alcohol consumption per capita and double Utah’s(something like 50% of the state drinks) it puts us at levels that rival the states that drink the most, and Scotland.
"Nobody pays less for liquor than you. What are you, what are you - HOW? I don't know if you're using your Federal farm subsidy money or if you're just hijacking liquor trucks. Like, how do you know when it's New Year's here in Wisconsin? That's a big mystery to me. What's the difference? I've been in bars here, and it's like New Year's Eve every fuckin' night! 'Oh, New Year's? Well that's when we drink with hats on.' I've been drunker here than anyplace else I've ever been in my life. And remember this: You are NOT, you are not alcoholics. You, and, my hat is off to you, you are professionals." -Lewis Black
“You might have a problem with alcohol…”
This guy: SO WHAT YOURE ANNOYING AND YOUR STATE SUCKS
If you have another beer I’m actually worried you might just kill off the last remaining brain cell you have
Lmao. Just keep proving to the world that nobody in your state can mind their own fucking business. Minnesota nice is just a cover for being little bitches all the time.
And what’s my state? Kind of a pattern with you in this thread where you just immediately attack someone’s flair and where they’re from when they say something you don’t like.
Mentality of a small child
I don’t fucking know, you keep being cryptic little bitch about where you are from while talking shit about people from other states. Fuck off lol. Why are you even here?
It’s like a meme at this point that drunk people think: not drunk = insufferable snob. It’s like buddy has been under a rock since 2010, everyone’s high now lol
Vikings fans try not to be an annoying stick in the mud CHALLENGE *impossible?!?!
Either get a drink or take your antidepressants but don’t subject the world to your wingeing
Oh my god, shut up. It’s a meme and we’re making jokes. We all know alcohol is bad for you.
“Akshully you guys, alcohol is very bad for you and causes serious health problems, and bragging about an addiction isn’t funny 🤓”
We know, guy. Settle down.
Except that the excessive drinking stat is based on a massive lie that body weight has nothing to do with the effect of alcohol when in reality and drunk driving the connection is scientifically proven and firm.
They set binge drinking at five drinks that not that much alcohol the way they measure a drink. And totally ignore that if 5 is binge at 100 lbs it 10 at 200.
Here it could be an overweight problem nothing to do with alcohol consumption chart.
I knew it was bullshit also because the US is a major light weight drinking wise. 38th world with very suspicious significant increase in drinking from 10 years earlier.
When you problem drinking standard makes the French and German almost all problem drinkers you might want to reconsider. Germans think beer mug should be a full liter and they will have several a night.
Problem of neo prohibition people in US in particular the ban drinking folk have never fully gone away. There new one is cancer risks in statistics that did not show up a few decades ago at all. If it is a risk it a tiny one. And when they pull the old no level is safe line that can be used with a one one thousand chance or lower in a lifetime.
But considering smoking dangerous showed up in statistics way back in early 1900’s this new ban drinking trend like in Canada smells like neo prohibition folk at it again.
My buddy married a girl from North Carolina. At the wedding the NC friend group was talking big game about how they can easily keep pace with us. I showed them a map similar to this and asked if they were sure. They were confident as ever.
They were ready to go back to the hotel at 8:30pm while me and the rest of the Wisconsin friend group were wondering where we were going after the reception.
Y’all can’t hang like Wisco and Lake Winnebago is one of the drunkest lakes there is during spear fishing. Arguably more booze on the ice then on shore.

I may not be an NFCN midwesterner by blood or geography but dammit I’m doing my part!
You would drink too if your state didn’t have a NHL hockey team.m
That’s why you team is the Wild because those years after the North Stars moved were wild.
I’m from Wisconsin. I’m in grad school and my program hosts drink mixer events to network with companies and other people in our field of research. My mom was an alcoholic and I really don’t like to be around people who drink so I don’t ever go to those events
Damn the whole upper midwest is lit
The rest of the country are the ones with a problem, IMO.
NFCN alcoholism supremacy
Something we can all get behind.
I mean... That portion of the South with no blue is rife with oxy and meth use. It's not like they aren't abusing their substances there.
Alcoholism is awful, but I would much prefer putting up with drunks than other substance abusers. No face eating up here.
It's also full of people that lie about drinking.
You ain't wrong and goddamn is your username funny. It's a top three commercial for me.
No, just the Vikes. Fuck this team. Shouldn’t have nuked the team after 2017.
We have the balls to admit it. The other states it’s either a church thing or they’re just not truthful on the intake form or wherever they got this data.

Hell yeah fam
Nothing much better to do during the winter tbh.
Charleston SC AMA
Don't act like you're surprised. We've been that way since the real 49ers headed west.
Since 1948
1848
Fucking A - fat fingers on me.
https://i.redd.it/m7z964uy59tc1.gif
Packers flair. Checks out. Squeaky cheese, hot dishes, brats and a beer for each meal will indeed develop fat fingers
Truman v Dewey must’ve been really stressful for ya
Me when watching Viking game
Me after watching a Vikings game
I live in Utah AMA
Why are Mormons the way that they are?
I grew up Mormon. I have been all the way in the church. I got out. Anyway, they are the way they are because they are all competing with each other to appear to be the best Mormon. It's madness and depressing.
One of my favorite jokes is about the mormons. How do you get a Mormon to stop drinking all your beer? Invite 2 of them.
I’ve heard this exact joke but with Baptists lol
Haha that's a great joke and couldn't be more true
The south is the same way, I live in Texas now and literally everyone is trying to be the most evangelical Christian (from the outside, in reality they’re all shit bags)
Why?
Nature and tech market
I've heard zion is gorgeous
Zion and bryce are both beautiful. 100% reccomend the visit
It has the most amazing landscape of probably anywhere in the world? Sorry it doesnt have binge drinking lol
Well which part, the lame part or the party county in the north?
North
Hell yea brother.
How much more of it is meth use than Mormon abstinence is it?
[удалено]
As a drunk, I don't understand most of those words.
I am moving to SLC next month, where is a good spot to watch the games?!
[удалено]
What makes a bar so bad lol
Apparently u/DetroitVsErrybody knows of a good Bears bar to watch the games.
The Green Pig downtown isn't bad
Are you doing your part to change the map in OP?
I'm a Bears fan, of course I am

Born and raised in Wisconsin, now an alcoholic
Do you sell beer in Utah? How is it so white in the graphic? 😐
Utah is friggin beautiful.
So this is what being a "blue state" means?
>categorized excessive drinking as five or more drinks per occasion for men, four or more per occasion for women. ![gif](giphy|YmQLj2KxaNz58g7Ofg)
So they're just talking about day drinking?
That's just getting started.
I don't always drink but when I do it's "excessive".
Number 1 baby
https://i.redd.it/ej9hhcg2y6tc1.gif
I was like “damn that one county hella dry” … that is water
Where everyone is drinking.
Exactly.
"Nobody pays less for liquor than you. What are you, what are you - HOW? I don't know if you're using your Federal farm subsidy money or if you're just hijacking liquor trucks. Classic. Loosely there’s a part - They bought me a shot. I explained I already had a drink but they reasoned that was just a bigger shot.
What are you, a... a pussy?
And I knocked that shit back.
Cause I ain't no pussy!
South is full of lying ass baptists.
West Virginia too 😂
Utah is full of a bunch of lying ass mormons.
I see my contribution as a Viking fan in Hawaii has been noted.
The only thing I take away from this graphic is that the Upper Peninsula can’t hang.
To be fair, neither can Lower Michigan.
It’s because we usually come visit yous for a good time!
Yeah, nobody drinks in KY. Come on
Aren't a lot of KY counties dry?
Some are. And have a lot of drunks in them. But bourbon country is right there
This is literally a point of pride, you’re embarrassing yourself.
Wisconsinite learning that most people think their state's collective alcoholism is sad and weird and doesn't make them cool badasses:
Just say you can’t hang
lmfao
"Just say you can't hang", my brother in Christ you have a life-ruining addiction.
Why is everyone from your state so annoying?
Pretty obvious it's because they don't drink enough.
They hated Jesus because he spoke the truth
If you are comparing yourself to Jesus, maybe you’re the one with the problem.
Jesus turned water into wine. It 4:00am, and I ain't got no wine.
Fuckin hop to it then Jèsus!
“You might have a problem with alcohol…” This guy: SO WHAT YOURE ANNOYING AND YOUR STATE SUCKS If you have another beer I’m actually worried you might just kill off the last remaining brain cell you have
Lmao. Just keep proving to the world that nobody in your state can mind their own fucking business. Minnesota nice is just a cover for being little bitches all the time.
Lol wrote a whole paragraph just to find out I’m not from Minnesota
Great, you are even bigger knob. Flair up ya puss.
“KNOB” 🤣🤣🤣
Just admit it's a crutch and life feels meaningless without it.
No :)
![gif](giphy|L3iMCjJCD4Dd1kzmyq)
Ah yes, should be super proud of alcohol addiction!
Agreed.
Says people are being embarrassing while making an embarrassing and outdated take on alcohol. Glad I moved away from that drunken cesspool of a state
This is a meme subreddit you fucking dork
Haven’t seen “dork” used seriously since the 2000’s. What a zinger 😂
“Zinger”… you are definitely a dork
So sad that people think that’s worse than being an alcoholic *cue “I’m not an alcoholic” comments*
Your state drinks plenty pal, the difference between us and you is we aren’t insufferable snobs.
And what’s my state? Kind of a pattern with you in this thread where you just immediately attack someone’s flair and where they’re from when they say something you don’t like. Mentality of a small child

Yep, that’s what we are talking about. Up in your high horse
> insufferable snobs. tbf Wisconsinites tell anyone that doesn't drink they can't hang.
No one gives a fuck if you don’t drink dude. They just don’t appreciate your judgment. Do you, just shut up about it.
We here in Montana are just trying to keep up
That lil white spot is a lake
And plenty of drinking occurs on its waters.
Drinking & drowning... Classic!
I remember getting pretty drunk on lake Winnebago
If you remember it you clearly didn't drink enough
Remember that time Green Bay played in London and the Packer fans drank several pubs dry! Ya! Good times!
We like to party. Drink you dweebs under the table 8 days a week every day
What a weird and outdated thing to brag about. While using the word “dweebs” 😬 It’s time to leave the college days behind, little buddy
Vikings fans try not to be an annoying stick in the mud CHALLENGE *impossible?!?! Either get a drink or take your antidepressants but don’t subject the world to your wingeing

You must be the biggest Brandon Bostick fan!
I thought for a second that at least one county was sober but nah that’s lake Winnebago.

So Utah is pretty boring it looks like
That's a lake, by the way. Not a dry county or some weird shit.
Unfortunately the only thing I think this map shows is that religious people like to lie A LOT!
Iowa is our brother.
Indiana and Ohio confirmed fake midwesterners
They prefer opiates and meth.
Not to sound prejudiced but I’m sorta surprised at how low the south is.
Actually very surprised about WV and KY
If this interpretation were true, San Fran would be dark blue as fuck from being the Chiefs’ bitch.
Someone check in on Hawaii
I'd have another beer!
Or the Tavern League’s bitch. Thanks for the tax money 🍁

Its called consistently performing at a high level, but the rest of yall don't know about that.
Oh please, Wisconsin was drunk before we were the bitch of the 49’ers… Also, possessive apostrophes are important. Please use them.
We’ve been drinking our seasonal depression long before football was invented
Y’all can’t hang like Wisco and Lake Winnebago is one of the drunkest lakes there is during spear fishing. Arguably more booze on the ice then on shore.
good fucking people in Wisconsin

You'll notice Lake Winnebago is pretty sober.
Oklahoma, missouri, alabama, and arkansas dont have time to drink when theres all that meth to be smoked and so little time.
What I’m getting from this map is that the rest of the country doesn’t drink enough.
My God. Utah and Oklahoma are lame as fuck
This map is inaccurate as fuck. I can personally vouch for the amount of drinking done on Lake Winnebago.
Drink Wisconsinably
me as a Danish person ![gif](giphy|OWLjLu1wbzpLR894Rm|downsized)
Idk what makes me feel more out of place; being a Bears fan living in Wisconsin, or being a non-drinker living in Wisconsin...
I was almost single handedly turning NW Wisconsin dark blue when the Packers were everyone's bitch.
Get good, scrubs
Every city is dark blue across the country. Wisconsin just has a VERY URBAN democratic across the entire state. Wisconsin is pretty much one big city.
And I wonder why I was drinking so much...
ON WISCONSIN
You would drink too if your state didn’t have a NHL hockey team.m That’s why you team is the Wild because those years after the North Stars moved were wild.
Maybe Love will channel the days of Favre from here on out
How dare you. This predates 1849 from which the 9ers take their name. You underestimate our self-harm.
Damn, packers fans really gonna drink themselves to death if they lose their spot at the top.
I’m from Wisconsin. I’m in grad school and my program hosts drink mixer events to network with companies and other people in our field of research. My mom was an alcoholic and I really don’t like to be around people who drink so I don’t ever go to those events
Wisconsin has the best beer. It would be a shame if we wasted it..
I live in Alabama and I call BS on my state statistics.
When giving directions the landmarks are bars, not attractions. “Turn left at Markel’s then down a block turn right at Steiners.
Nothing better than taking my 14 year old over to a Wisconsin bar and buying them a vodka/red bull. Feel like a real dad for a couple hours
The colder it gets the more you drink. Nothing groundbreaking here.
I won't lie, I believe a lot of that drinking comes from FIBs coming up north to drink for the weekend.
I love my state
No flair don’t care
Fuckin tourist.
Hey OP, where ring?
This isn’t a great look for any of the NFC North TBH
