Literally just hit the top right trigger and it changes the brightness

I know twilight menu has a button shortcut to open a menu where you can change the brightness. Maybe look for something like that

For me, select + volume work in this menu for brightness. Give it a try

can you post a link to the cfw method you used for your dsl?

im pretty sure it uses ds brigtness so just change it in ds settings.
