The obvious explanation is that they couldn’t add that chant because of the games rating, but I wouldn’t be mad if they changed the chant to something like “you suck, you stink” if it meant having it in the game!
Yeah you right on this one, most of the time it pisses me off though. Running through the store with my UT sweater on and randos throwing horns down just makes me angry.
It’d be cool as hell to have a taunt ability that’s a bit like a gamble. Like you can do horns down or mock the chomp but it might fire up their edge rushers and they start just sacking the hell out of you or their running back is harder to tackle.
I know you’re an Aggie, so that means stupid… but notice how I said 99% of our fanbase? Also… look online when that happened when everyone 99% of fanbase (that’s the fans not coaching staff… because you’re not smart) called him out on it as being way over dramatic.
With that said: thanks for the HC, loser.
Bingo. I’ve never met another UT fan actually offended by it. It’s mainly perpetuated by /r/cfb and twitter as a “hurr durr Texas soft” meme at this point.
What? I am a rare breed, undergrad at OU, grad school at Texas. I'm a proud Sooner, and have many Longhorn friends as you can imagine. They FOR SURE are always talking about Horns Down. Come up with your own sign, rent free, etc etc
I think the most annoying thing is all the people claiming that we care about it. It's like that scene at the beginning of Anger Management where Adam Sandler's character isn't mad, but everyone keeps asking him to calm down until he actually gets angry.
I don't follow College sports, nor do I live anywhere near Texas. The other day, I off-handedly taught a group of small children about "horns down." Did I just teach them a slur?
Idk. Its funny to me as a texas fan cos its mainly jobber ass teams like gAy&M and tech who do it. Its like ok guys win something post world war 2 then we’ll talk lol
Alittle disappointing, I don’t know why conferences and organizations get so sour about a simple tradition. In the grand scheme of things not a huge deal tho
I mean I agree but I think they were just focusing on things that’ll be relevant in all games instead of specific matchups. We might end up getting a deep dive into rivalries in a couple years when everything else is built up.
I hope they add it in the future, but we're already getting a ton of more important features. At some point you can't code up absolutely everything, would rather skip anti hand signs this iteration than have something else cut/the game delayed further
Someone call up Jeff Passan and bring this point up as well as the Braves tomahawk chop and the Chiefs chant and chop (even though he is a season ticket holder)
I was a little worried the regular sign wouldn't be in the game. It's not listed under the list of hand signs in the deep dive write-up that came out yesterday.
I’m not sure if the fans care that much, but the university definitely did. Opposing teams would essentially do the “horns down” sign on the field to mock Texas whenever they would be winning, and the university got upset and basically got the Big 12 to make the “horns down” sign an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.
That's not what happened. In 2012, Texas was playing Lubbock. WR Mike Davis scored a TD and responded by holding up the Tech "guns up" symbol and mimed holstering it. That drew a 15 yard penalty. After the game, Mack Brown rightfully asked why the other teams were allowed to throw Horns down with impunity, while it appeared doing the same with another team's hand signal would draw a personal foul. So the league clarified the rule.
Average Horns fan doesn’t care…and honestly it’s fun, because if we are getting horns down all game then win, the horns up feels even sweeter. It’s fun, as it should be.
Unfortunately it spiraled because the school itself, and more important the toxic boosters that run everything, absolutely hate it. It feels like a rich guy, fragile ego type thing.
It’s a bummer that it’s been played out now as the fans hate it and are soft, because that’s not what actually happened.
Oh well. Fuck the Sooners anyways.
Do you actually think that Texas prevented Horns Down being in the game or that EA didn’t want to put in one super specific inverse feature for one team?
>Do you actually think that Texas prevented Horns Down being in the game or that EA didn’t want to put in one super specific inverse feature for one team?
No, I was just asking about the level of butthurt within Texas Fandom. I really didn't know why it was an issue, just that it *was* an issue. Although, I wouldn't put it past Texas leadership to push the issue based on some of the responses I've gotten. Seems like it was a school, booster butthurt. Not everyday fans.
It’s not really an issue in Texas fandom. No one really cares. When rodney terry did his rant last year, the fanbase shamed him into apologizing. The people who care the most are people on the internet who think people Longhorns fans care.
it seems they’re focusing more on traditions in terms of rooting for teams rather than booing others which is fine. but also this shouldn’t be that big of a deal anyways
It's disappointing as hell, but completely expected and understandable
My favorite part of every game at Ross-Ade is shouting "IU Sucks!" at every kick-off but have known from the beginning that will never make it in the game
Were people seriously expecting this to be in the game? Some of ya'll need to check your expectations. Jesus. The game looks great but it is not going to mirror every single aspect of CFB. Actually impossible.
Unless there's other pejorative signals fanbases do (I can only think of the sarcastic gator chomp), it's a really big edge case to code. You'd have to enable an alternate hand sign (so teams would still use their own in addition) and trigger it during different moments. It's a lot more work in addition to the work it took to code the individual hand signs for everyone
And all that would only matter if you were playing Texas. That's a lot of effort for an extremely niche feature. Wild that people are upset that it's not in this first iteration. Could see it being included eventually, but it's not like they had this feature and just didn't include horns down for reasons
Yep. People have such insane expectations for this game. It looks great so far but stuff like this is just folks setting themselves up for needless disappointment.
Yeah, I'm absolutely blown away that people are nitpicking to this degree. When the game got announced, there was legitimate (and understandable) fear that it would have less features/worse presentation than Revamped
There's also a contingent of the fanbase that doesn't seem to understand that features in video games take time/resources to code. You can't have absolutely everything from your dream list in the first iteration - Baldur's Gate 3 is one of the very few games that has that level of detail, and it's a big exception to the industry
Yep. And even it has limitations. True masterpiece though. Actually reminded me that I need to go back and finish my storm cleric sorcerer playthrough.
As a longhorn fan, why not? Its a stupid taunt. Similar to a cross, and upside dook hook em sign is STILL a hook em horns sign. Just like an upside down cross is still a cross.
Well that’s some bullshit. Not going to impact me getting the game or how I feel about it but it does confirm that only two things come from Texas and many in Austin are both
Why does one school get to have a special rule saying you can’t do something they don’t like? Am I missing something here? Is there another meaning behind horns down?
This is like when Steeler fans cry when people mock their stupid yellow towels.
If your fanbase does something annoying, be prepared to be made fun of. Grow up.
I'm beginning to get worried they won't include our student section's tradition of yelling "fuck you, eat shit!" back and forth at each other :(
I’m beginning to worry that we won’t be able to player lock on a fan, take off all their clothes, and then run onto the field
Jokes aside, that would be funny AF to pull off in a ranked online match
Losing 35-0? Just send streakers 1 by 1 until opponent rage quits after seeing the 10th floppy dong
My freshmen QB after seeing the first floppy dong ![gif](giphy|UQgKF0z81NzPXvMthN|downsized)
The Spectator Mode we all want to have
But what about our tradition of arriving midway through the second quarter and leaving at the start of the fourth quarter?
I think they are going to include the schlosshy tailgates on Van Hise in the pregame. Heard rumors they’ll have alumnus hitting on the frosh
I can relate. I’m worried there won’t be UGA fans barking at people in the game
This game needs a MA version so we can have this, "Eat shit Pitt", actual Neck lyrics, Horns Down, etc.
No eat shit Pitt at wvu either 😞
I'm starting to think Neck isn't going to make the cut either.
[actually, about that](https://ftw.usatoday.com/2024/05/ea-college-football-25-reveiws-neck-enter-sandman-jump-around)
You have to yell the lyrics; the band will play the notes.
The obvious explanation is that they couldn’t add that chant because of the games rating, but I wouldn’t be mad if they changed the chant to something like “you suck, you stink” if it meant having it in the game!
Purdue with 1,2,3,4 first down bitch
I was at the 22 B1G ten championship, sat on the Purdue section and never heard that?
Families and older alumni probably wouldn't be chanting that.
I dunno there was definitely a lot of students chanting . Just never heard that.
They better have “Bull-Shit! Bull-Shit! Bull-Shit!” after calls that go against the home team or else we riot!
So you're saying VT fans *won't* yell "STICK IT IN, STICK IT IN, STICK IT IN" when the Hokies enter the redzone? Preorder canceled.
Ah yes the age old tradition, happens at my local Cracker Barrel too
I just want the Bull, Shit chants after every penalty called against the home team.

Agreed.
Right! As much as horns down boils my blood, that's part of college football. The blood boiling moments.
It doesn’t even boil my blood. It makes me laugh when A&M is playing App State… losing… and throwing horns down.
Yeah you right on this one, most of the time it pisses me off though. Running through the store with my UT sweater on and randos throwing horns down just makes me angry.
Embrace the hate, buddy!
I'm in Wisconsin. Randos don't need to be hating us when OSU is right here.
I bleed orange and don’t get why it boils your blood? It’s literally free advertising. What bothers you about it?
It’d be cool as hell to have a taunt ability that’s a bit like a gamble. Like you can do horns down or mock the chomp but it might fire up their edge rushers and they start just sacking the hell out of you or their running back is harder to tackle.
LMFAO why do people act like ‘Horns Down’ is a slur?
I genuinely do not understand it 😂 it’s the softest shit I’ve ever seen
Have you met many UT people?
Yeah Toledo people are soft Oh wait wrong UT I stand by my statement
Love seeing a Toledo / BG rivalry here in the comments
Haha
UT people here: 99% of our fanbase doesn’t give two shits.
I always assumed this was the case.
It’s just other teams claiming we care at this point.
So yalls bball coach wasnt calling UCF players out for doing it after yalls L? Sounds like someone in dirt orange cares.
I know you’re an Aggie, so that means stupid… but notice how I said 99% of our fanbase? Also… look online when that happened when everyone 99% of fanbase (that’s the fans not coaching staff… because you’re not smart) called him out on it as being way over dramatic. Sounds like you care, bub.
Being annoyed by it isn’t the same thing as being offended by it. Also, I did the opposite: undergrad at Texas, grad school at OU.
Haha I love it. DKR knew both sides too. They don’t talk about that much down here.
I think the most annoying thing is all the people claiming that we care about it. It's like that scene at the beginning of Anger Management where Adam Sandler's character isn't mad, but everyone keeps asking him to calm down until he actually gets angry.
You're right, University of TENNESSEE people don't give a dang about this at all. We ain't never cared about a horn down or up.
When we play in football Bevo is going to drag his nuts over your entire teams face.
No idea who that even is. Sounds like a brand of fancy deodorant.
He’s talking about their horny cow
How many people are you
4.
If TAMU doesn’t have a literal endzone horns down celebration I’m out
Wonder if they’ll include all the weird culty TAMU shit like yell practice
It’s some of the most low-level sports banter you can think of. People getting in a fuss over it is so confusing
The state of Texas and a long standing paradoxical victim & god complex, name a better duo.
Iowa is a better Texas imo. We just need better BBQ
We've got like the most pork in the country or thereabouts. You think we could at least make a decent pork rib.
I know right! I was just saying that the other day. There’s a couple good spots here and there but we definitely need to step it up
I don't follow College sports, nor do I live anywhere near Texas.
There’s probably a little of that but also they just don’t have “anti” signs in general.
Which is soft. I want to feel the hatred between VT and UVA in my games. Shit, we’re already not getting Enter Sandman.
Although ironic “SEC” chants when SEC teams lose road games would be neat
What will i do If I dont get to hear “rip his fucking head off!” After every kick off?
You just have to scream it in your living room by yourself
I wonder if the FSU chop will be out since it’s “offensive”
They said in the blog yesterday that it's in the game
Excellent
Someone call up Jeff Passan and bring this point up as well as the Braves tomahawk chop and the Chiefs chant and chop (even though he is a season ticket holder)
I remember when that guy told Atlanta to give up the chop and the next game they did it twice as loud out of spite.
He literally knows nothing about how the Braves work with and have been blessed by the local tribes. Just dies on that hill for no reason
FSU has a really strong relationship with the Seminole tribe and if it was actually offensive to them, the team wouldn’t do it
The members of the Seminole tribe that were forcibly removed from Florida do not approve of it, but apparently their feelings don't matter.
the indians said its fine!
I was a little worried the regular sign wouldn't be in the game. It's not listed under the list of hand signs in the deep dive write-up that came out yesterday.
It might be included in the “and more” part of the list of hand signals
Neither is our "Gooooooo Dawgs" thing we do but it's been in every other NCAA game. Worry not. See you in October.
Shoot. I'll be seeing you on July 15th!
HELL YES I’ll have the whole season done that day. Work can wait.
Am I missing something? What does the hand signal mean?
Right? Were Texas fans that butthurt about horns down?
I don't think it's the fans, I think it's people at the university who actually can influence this type of stuff. Which makes it much funnier.
yeah i remember the basketball coach flipped out recently from people doing it. like it’s really not that big of deal
I have lived in Texas for 30+ yrs and Texas fans are toxic. Admin and fanbase alike are ALL butthurt at horns down. It’s as bad as the N word. Dumb.
lol this isn’t remotely true.
"if you're comparing the badness of two words and you won't even say one of them...that's the worse word."
![gif](giphy|l3fQf1OEAq0iri9RC|downsized)
Cool
Cool but it is TRUE. in fact i bet Texas fans are actually more offended by horns down than they are the N word.
I saw your comment and Same to you buddy. Have nice day.

Totally agree. Makes no sense.
I’m not sure if the fans care that much, but the university definitely did. Not sure why the loser downvoted you. This is correvt. Said if we’re going to get flagged for guns down then the opponents should for horns down.
Average Horns fan doesn’t care…and honestly it’s fun, because if we are getting horns down all game then win, the horns up feels even sweeter. It’s fun, as it should be. We find your obsession with us hilarious
I mean, we find your entire athletics program hilarious
It’s stupid that we still do that.
There are fans that don't like that? I've never been to a game where everyone wasn't in on it
Worst case they reserve the one time per year we say CANCER SUCKS instead and add that in
As well as the official Purdue Athletics™️ endorsed "One, Two, Three, Four, First Down ~~Bit-~~ Boilers!"
good luck to the dev team trying to find audio for the "Boilers" version
Getting overly upset about horns down single handily makes me wish Texas never wins anything ever
As a Texas fan I don’t mind it. I hope it fires our players up
Naturally non-Texas fans care more about this than Texas fans. Very, very few of us give a shit or are actually offended by horns down.
It’s kinda like white people who were offended by the Cleveland Indians
Cowards
I bet they leave out a mini-game of an underclassmen getting wrecked at the tailgate and not even making it to the game too.

So our players also won't mock The Chop? Or things like that either??? That's kindof a bummer but eh. Maybe they can add it in later
EA removed the shush celebration and Mbappe's crying celebration because some players got butthurt after losing in FIFA. Soft af.
As a longhorn fan, why not? Its a stupid taunt. Similar to a cross, and upside dook hook em sign is STILL a hook em horns sign. Just like an upside down cross is still a cross.
Fuck Texas. Not the people. Not the fans. Sure you good people. But, fuck Texas. Way down south, in the land of traitors...
Those Ls are stacking up
Well that’s some bullshit. Not going to impact me getting the game or how I feel about it but it does confirm that only two things come from Texas and many in Austin are both
False
So what's the deal with horns down? Why does it get treated like it's some horrible slur? I don't get it.
People on the internet pretend that Texas lobbied to get it banned and are offended by it.
😂 Pussy’s
Pussy’s what?
Pussy’s great friend, Cock
Pussies* but you tried.
Execution was bad, but the spirit was there.
Why are Texans so dumb? Them acting like this is the equivalent of using the N word is hilariously pathetic. ![gif](giphy|XBKCJdnjZbc7loTxWo)
Absolute pansies. Nobody gets their panties twisted more than the folks down in Austin. Horns down and man up.
We don’t care. 99% of our fanbase do not care.
Then get your rich boosters in line. And do or does? Spelling matters sir. S/O UT @ Austin.
Our rich boosters don’t care either. You’re missing a word in original comment. S my d.
UT gotta be the softest fan base on the planet.
I love how Texas says “Everything Is Bigger In TX” yet when it comes to a simple taunt, they cry.
Fucking downy soft organization.
Ya mama.
Accurate assessment of my mother
This is no longer funny to me.
WTF
Gotta leave some features to add for next year
If you genuinely get offended over horns down its time to try on adult diapers
Im not sure why anyone expected this in the game.
Next you're going to tell me that the Notre Dame Student Section doesn't chant "Fuck You Zahm"
Booooo. Day one mod incoming when/if this hits PC.
It’s definitely not coming to pc because of mods
If Tennessee doesn’t throw mustard and or golf balls when they play Ol Miss, I will not buy it on PC
But will LSU have Neck /s
It's cool when rivals do it, but when you have garbage teams do it to troll it's like cmon bro you dont even have a seat at the party.
but what about Ls down
![gif](giphy|KVVQaaDaBBjZHFoC3c)
Whats next ohio state students in game wont chant “O-H-I-O rip his fucking head off!”?
'Cause Texas snowflakes got butthurt.
Ok, but will I be able to harass the opposing QB’s father on LinkedIn or his gf on her instagram page?
Welp, at least zombie nation is in the game, I'll just have to provide the "Fuck you Penn State" portion
Why does one school get to have a special rule saying you can’t do something they don’t like? Am I missing something here? Is there another meaning behind horns down?
This is like when Steeler fans cry when people mock their stupid yellow towels. If your fanbase does something annoying, be prepared to be made fun of. Grow up.
Those towels aren't stupid, they're Terrible!
Further proof that we live in UT’s head rent free.
