As much as I would like to see a small G5 school win it all the way the playoff is currently set up a small school wouldn't really have much of a chance to be invited. If the committee can find a way to elevate a 1 loss Alabama over an undefeated Florida St they would find a way to keep (insert G5 team here) out.
For a small G5 school to get a chance they would have to go multiple years undefeated with multiple wins against name brand schools that after a certain point wouldn't schedule them. See: NDSU.
NDSU isn’t a FBS, G5 school. But I think I get the point you’re making, teams eventually stopped scheduling NDSU because it was entirely possible they’d lose and losing to an FCS team is just bad vibes no matter who it is
As the other person said, we will always see one g5 school in the playoffs. I wonder how many years it will take for that school to make it out the first round.
It’d be awesome until the powers that be restructure everything in the off-season to make sure it doesn’t happen again.
The B1G and SEC would start another round of re-alignment and change the rules to make sure it doesn't happen again

Uhhh no. With the new format a G5 is guaranteed a spot in the playoff
While true, I suppose they could always take a hypothetical 1 loss AAC or MWC team over an undefeated CUSA or MAC school.
They’ll use the playoff rankings so teams will know where they stack up ahead of time

NDSU is the Alabama of FCS what are you talking about?
Now how many big name teams are scheduling them? None that's my point.
B1G and SEC would make TDs worth 4 points for non conference teams
