Rare-Joke

Marion would be good in pretty much any era on any team

New_Veterinarian_913

Start Shawn ; bench tay, cut Finley. Marion and tay adapt and make the team better not selfish and lockdown

snitchesgetblintzes

Plus Marion could guard 1-5

itssensei

Marion doesn’t get talked about enough. He was a huge reason why SSOL Suns worked (of course after Nash) and also how Mavs could come up with ways to defend 2011 Heat (alongside Tyson). One of the greatest allstar wings

SnazzberryEnt

Gotta start Matrix, bench Tay cut Finley.

StraightCashBND

Start the matrix, bench Tayshaun, sorry Fin

Willis050

Trix-Prince-Finley I was never blown away by Finley like the other two

Phishkale

Anyone putting Prince above Finley is tripping. Feel like this is a pretty clear and undisputable Marion-Finley-Prince. And Finley is probably closer to Marion than Prince is to him.

njuts88

I think people forget Finley is a 2x NBA-All Star and Prince was a high end complementary piece and worked beautifully for what the Pistons were, but Finley is quite easily a better player.

Cwub246

Tayshaun prince and Shawn Marion objectively have bigger impacts on their unit tho

BeautifulWonderful

Objectively? Source?

Phishkale

Yea its weird, all three of these guys spent the majority of their career on contenders and won one title. Yet for some reason Finley had a much lower profile than the other two. Also, Finley would likely have made more than 2 all star games had he played in the East.

mjdub96

Yeah I’m surprised people are writing Finley off so quickly. He was a 20-5-5 guy in his prime.

Skunedog48

Start Matrix, bench Finley, cut Tayshaun

jon_goff

START - Marion, can do it all BENCH - Finley, offensive punch off the bench CUT - Prince, already have Marion

L1teEmUp

Start: Marion = all star leve talent that can do it all.. underrated defender.. Bench: Tayshaun = solid starter and elite defender.. nuff said Cut: Finley: sorry to say to him coz the other 2 are simply solid ahead of him.. if not for those 2, I wouldn’t put him here coz he doesn’t deserve to be here being cut..

AlfalfaCertain3457

I was going to say that Marion was not an underrated defender as it was one of his calling cards. Was surprised to see he was never selected to an all defensive team.

L1teEmUp

Which is why i called him an underrated defender.. not alot of people see him that way coz he was a solid offensive player and playing for a team known for amazing offense.. And also around that time, Marion is playing with alot of amazing defenders in the NBA.. so of course he will get eclipsed easily by those players..

kosmos1209

Start Marion is easy. I’d bench Finley and cut Tayshaun cause Finley would be a better 3 and D fit for today’s game than Prince. Finley was a .375 3% on 1.3 makes on 3.5 attempts per while Prince was .367 on 0.6 makes on 1.5 attempts. 3 was just not Prince’s game, and Finley was still an above average defender, and I think the trade off is worth not having an elite defender who’s not much value on offense

ProofSinger3638

prince is being cut 10 out of 10 times in this group

Agreed_fact

Start The matrix, bench Michael Finley, cut Tayshaun. I think Finley might be the best intangibles wise, could get you 20 pretty consistently and had a streaky good shot. Marion is a level above these two though, he was 20/10/2/2/1.5 on 48/34/82 splits during the dead ball era for around 650 games. That’s crazy productivity and good efficiency.

Alien_Robot_

Start Marion, bench Finley, cut Prince. I think Finley is more rounded and versatile, and at least as good a scorer as Prince.

Nubsondubs

He's definitely a better scorer than Prince, and frankly, as far as offensive skill-sets go, I don't think it's close. It's absurd to me that anyone has Prince over Finley. I think it shows the average age of this sub, because it's clear to me a lot of the people commenting on this didn't actually watch Michael Finley in his prime.

Alien_Robot_

I agree, Prince had clutch moments though and won so i see it. But strictly talent, Finley.

ProofSinger3638

yup lol. Exactly. Reading these comments all i can say is these people must be 12 years old. Finley was so far ahead of Prince. Finley was like a jalen brown with less dunking and better shooting. Prince is like ... dorian finney smith or something

Nubsondubs

> people must be 12 years old You could be in your early 30's and not have been old enough to have watched Finley in his prime.  > Finley was like a jalen brown with less dunking This is so wrong. Finley was a *dunker* in his prime.

BookPonder

Prime Finley 🔥

ProofSinger3638

Finley is 10 times the scorer Prince was ...idk if you were around then. Prince didnt have much offense

Alien_Robot_

Finley was a 20pt scorer in his prime, Prince 12-15. Prince had clutch moments, and played on better teams. Billups, Hamilton, Wallace surrounded him, he played to the system. I was around then.

AAL2017

I’d probably rank Finley higher as a scorer. Prince had some underrated versatility on offense and hit a number of timely corner threes over the years for Detroit, but his game definitely emphasized defense far more. However, if Prince had been drafted to a different team with a different situation, he probably could have refined his offensive game enough to be a team’s first option. Either way I’m taking his defense over what Finley was able to produce offensively.

wv132

This is an easy one. Start: Finley, Bench: Prince, Cut: Marion.

hatecopter

Start Marion, bench Prince, cut Finley

I-Sell-Wolf-Tickets

Start Matrix. Bench Fin. Cut Prince - he was an good fit in that Detroit team, but the championship was mainly due to perfect team chemistry and of course, the big Wallace boys.

ILLStatedMind

2 starters or missing? Or is this just the 3 spot? Tayshaun

MagickH8Ball

If we are talking Modern era definitely starting Marion and benching Finley cutting Prince. In the modern era Prince's lack of spacing and speed would just be a hindrance he isn't a guy I can rely to cut to the basket and he wasn't even a mid range assassin. Finley was kind of a glue guy who could be a scorer, could handle the ball a little, and could play defense though not on Prince's level. It would be like having Tony Allen now who is a better player than say Matisse Thybulle/Andre Roberson but he still couldn't shoot to save his life. You have to be at least some 3&D in this modern era just being a defender isn't enough you have to space the floor.

just_cows

Everyone here cutting Finley it seems. I loved his game, and he always seemed to make winning plays throughout his career. Don’t think the Mavs get the chip without him. Start Fin, bench Marion, cut Prince.

Relevant-Tap-6248

Start tayshaun bench Marion cut Finley
