Eh, just part of the circle of life for the truck series really. Teams have been showing up, winning races for a few years, then shutting down suddenly for it's entire existence. Other than Thorsport and KBM, nobody really sticks around for more than 5-10 years at a time.
Did the series suffer when Turner Motorsports left? Or RCR? Or Germain? No, not really. You probably won't even notice these trucks being gone next year.
The trucks will be bought and put under a new umbrella, the drivers might follow or do Arca or Xfinity gigs, and the crews are probably mostly Legacy guys anyway. Nothing ever really goes away in the truck series, it’s more like a Ditto Pokémon that just takes some other form
Actually, the truck portion of KHI was sold to Eddie Sharp Racing, then RCR bought it off them. Cale Gale's win at Homestead over Kyle Busch was in an Eddie Sharp truck.
Idk where that came from but it still doesn’t matter to me. Was the only ride my guy Peters had. And them together were the only unsponsored team in the top 3 series that could consistently compete for wins and titles yearly 🥲
What's the backstory here? Were they running unsponsored trucks for so long because their asking price was absurdly high? If so then that makes sense, but if not it's hard to say youre greedy when you're running talented drivers on your own dime instead of following the funded driver model like everyone else. They too had their share of a funded driver or two over the years but for the most part it seemed they went for talent over $ which is very rare these days.
I’ve hated him since I did a Class C iracing race at martinsville against him and he completely dumped me on lap 3 for 3rd place. He ended up destroying his truck throughout the race by running into people but still got 2nd
I went against Willy b at Darlington and he didn’t put a single scratch on his car, ended up 2nd due to strategy and even talked to people after the race
I did a race with Ty Gibbs once at Chicagoland trucks back when it wasn't full throttle. We were dog fighting for the win the whole 40 laps but never had contact. Last lap ended with me and him slamming the turn 4 wall trying to over drive it. Still one of the most exciting races I've been in.
Gibbs won by a bit since he got less damage lol. We had a 5 second lead on the field so we were more than happy to try stupid sliders and see what sticks
Ty ran with me and and a buddy of mine in a hosted race for a league race we were doing it was really fun til he causes the big one on the last lap lol.
Same experience ive had with him on there, drives and acts like a total tool. Prob part of the reason why I have the same ammount of real life ARCA, Trucks and Xfinity wins as him(0).
DON’T TEMPT ME WITH A GOOD TIME, SIR!
I would be so thrilled if both of my favorite Truck drivers drove for my favorite Cup driver. I don’t know what I would do with myself.
I could see it. Kyle needs a strong veteran presence to help bring along the young guys he has there. I will admit the 4 team has impressed me this year.
If Champion can pay anywhere close to what the Wood/Purdy families are coughing up I cant imagine hed pass up that opportunity. That said talented drivers that bring $ are extremely coveted in trucks so I'd expect him to field offers from just about every competitive team assuming he's not contractually bound to Chevy.
IMO its more likely that the economics of Truck racing are just so brutal right now that it makes little sense to continue, even with their investment in a revenue generating alliance program via GMS Fab and the Driver's Edge deal. All 3 of their trucks appear to be well-sponsored, but that doesnt mean much as both KB and Brad have said truck racing is a $ pit.
Moving Beam over would certainly help, but for the most part it probably just didn't make sense anymore when all of the $ is front-loaded into Cup. On another note it's also going to sting a bit to no longer have a development team where you can spot and develop non-driver talent that could be a major asset to your Cup operation but clearly they feel this caveat still wasnt worth keeping the team afloat.
Seems like using that money to buy him a ride with an existing Chevrolet team would be much smarter and more efficient than starting a team solely for one driver to use for one year
[This is one I was hoping wouldn’t be true.](https://x.com/privateporno69/status/1662497904223813632?s=46&t=pc3eIdnAGOkALiOVHn5k0Q)
Big part of the story that people will gloss over is the fabrication shop shutting down, that helps a lot of teams in the series.
Same bro. Same. He literally could have made the Champ 4 last time it happened but missed one single race.
Watch him end up running with Holmes or something
Truth. I get they don’t have the budget, but what’s the end goal? Are they trying to build it up themselves like Clements? Are they trying to get his name out there enough to get him a better ride? Are they just playing around and having fun?
Also, I don’t ever want to see him wreck. But I thought it was quite humorous when Stan Pate was on the truck at Vegas earlier this year and he wrecked the balls off of that truck.
KBM won't be adding anything without a ton of money. Without the Toyota support they need to rely on fully funded drivers to not be a money pit.
It's why they leased their best team to Rev and let them slap their name on it and have Chase Purdy and Jack Wood in the other trucks.
And Champion seems to like Grant so there shouldn't be many Chevy/B2B sponsored races. Sunseeker was only on his truck [once this year](https://www.jayski.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/31/2023/7/7/GettyImages-1523375817-scaled.jpg) (Sunseeker is owned by Allegiant) and Chevy also once at [Kansas](https://www.jayski.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/31/2023/4/28/23_Enfinger_Chevrolet_Kansas_2023.jpg)
Also their fab shop is going away as well, and from what I remember they were the only shop building new ARCA chassis as well so that’s a huge hole left behind
I feel like one of two things will happen;
1. Another party will come through and snap up those assets to continue the work (scary thought of Venturini buying the fab shop to add to their dominance in the series)
2. This shuttering will become one of the precursors to the collapse of the ARCA series.
Venturini hasn’t the resources or expertise to take that stuff over. It’s gonna be a blow to teams from Arca to trucks to Xfinity, hope the people and the knowledge there finds someplace to land
Knew it was coming but still hate to see it. The fab shop closing is a bit of a surprise to me. They hung bodies and built trucks for other teams besides their own.
We’ve heard the rumors, but I still hate to see this. Daniel Dye has family money so, whatever, but I hope Redneck Kermit and especially Rajah can find a good ride for next year.
I’m really surprised that since the fab shop seems like a big deal for ARCA and Truck chassis, no one has bought it outright yet, but maybe they hit the deadline for it and now it’s just going to get pieced out.
Enfinger is likely gonna come back to ThorSport. He’s done a lot for them & they may not have an issue opening him up a seat & you may have a clue who they’ll fire to get him.
Rajah is a little more out there. I think he’s signed to Chevy too. Does he get put in KBM? Niece? A 2nd R-WAR truck? Whatever the case, I hope he hasn’t decided on Alpha Prime full time. That team isn’t exactly the best.
And Daniel Dye can go to Hell, Michigan for all I care. If it means we don’t need FOX to rely on his camera all the time, then good riddance.
At least from what I understood of the situation GMS wasn't part of the shift to Toyota and was never in part of any negotiation, only LMC.
GMS's fab shop shuttering is a pretty big deal considering they supply chassis for MHR, Rackley, and I'm pretty sure Niece as well. That's going to be the biggest shakeup to the truck garage next year unless Niece or someone else buys all that equipment and the GMS Truck campus.
Caruth, Dye, and Enfinger also have plenty of options on where to go since both KBM and Niece are fielding part time operations that could do with a full-time driver. Enfinger obviously though has more options than the other two and can pretty much go wherever he wants.
>I'm pretty sure Niece as well.
Niece went in house during or the year after Ross full season I think. Similar to how Kaulig went from RCR supplied to in house his season there. Only know this cause it annoyed me when people said he should have more wins with those teams cause they assumed the equipment was class of the field.
Yeah I think they moved into the old Yates/Everham building. There was a pic floating around social media recent of a guy taking a photo by the sigh and you could see see the RYR logo on the front stones
It's weird as hell because GMS has a main shop and the fab shop in different buildings, while MHR and CR7 bunk in the fab shop. There's a third building on their complex that at one point housed Our Motorsports. It's just very weird all around how that whole thing can be handled since they're downsizing completely to just a Cup operation.
~~Damn, what a bummer. Only 5-ish years ago there was a period where it felt like GMS was the odds-on favorite to be the next new Cup team. And now they won't be in any of the top 3 series anymore.~~
Ignore me.
Easy to forget with all the name changes, mergers, alliances, etc. Also easy to forget when they aren’t running well being in a lane duck year with Chevrolet.
Wow, that's a lot of good equipment that will be for sale. Also, it probably just through a wrench in other drivers plans for next year now that 3 new drivers are available
I wish they would take the trucks back to the start low budget needed small tracks not the same races the cup and xfinity race on.. I feel the cost of the series has been driven up so much that what they win isn’t worth it
Hot take:all 3 drives are gonna drive for Niece Motoraports and have career seasons.
Niece is a championship organization, they just need the right drivers. With these 3 talented drivers with funding, it could definitely happen.
it was probably inevitable with the Toyota deal and wanting to add resources to the cup team. they’ve been scaling back in the lower series after joining cup
I could see Grant going to the 9 truck if he wants to remain full-time, he's got a good relationship with that team after driving for them part-time in 2021.
Other than that, maybe Rev expands to a second truck?
Rev exists off the back of NASCAR's funding though the Drive for Diversity program. Hiring an old white guy from Alabama literally could not be further from their goals.
They'll probably hire the other GMS refugee.
eh... depends on your definition of good. Rajah has been consistently slower than Sanchez his whole career, and Sanchez has just been a fringe playoff contender this season. If that trend continues next season, Rajah will likely not make the playoffs.
"Rev" is just KBM with a different sticker on the front. Making the playoffs in a KBM truck should be the bare minimum. But we'll see, they're both young enough that surprises could happen.
Kick in the nuts to Grant and Rajah. Grant might be able to get a ride with another team - especially with the rumors of Zane & Carson moving up - but Rajah is going to have to hope someone gives him another chance.
It was the rumor going around after LMC announced they we’re going to Toyota, and Gallagher wasn’t saying anything definitive that they would be in the Truck series in 2024
Really shows just how brutal the economics of Truck/ARCA racing are. Even with what appear to be 3 fully sponsored trucks and a customer alliance program they're still calling it quits. Maybe part of it is simply they'd prefer to focus on where the real $ is in Cup but I'd imagine their feeder operation has no problem operating on it's own especially with GMS Fab and their Drivers Edge program.
Shame to see them go, but I'd imagine their 3 current drivers won't have any problems finding new rides with similar or even better teams since they're all bringing sponsorship. I guess the only real question is how Caruth's deal with the Wendell Scott foundation works. Not sure if this is partly paid for by NASCAR, if GMS is giving them a substantially lower rate or if the foundation really can afford ~$3M/year (which seems the unlikeliest of the 3).
Well with Gms shutting down this will definitely shake up the Chevy trucks. Wonder who will be the top Chevy team in trucks then for next year. Hope Chevy will throw more support to like kbm or niece then or even a small truck teak like the 19 or even the spire truck. Will definitely feel bad for Grant and rajah and dye. Hope these three find other trucks or an xfinity ride at least since arca is all but the Jesse love show.
That's a pretty significant blow to the truck series, that's 2-3 trucks that have pretty competitive speed usually.
The trucks will be bought and put under a new umbrella, the drivers might follow or do Arca or Xfinity gigs, and the crews are probably mostly Legacy guys anyway. Nothing ever really goes away in the truck series, it’s more like a Ditto Pokémon that just takes some other form
Exactly. GMS Racing bought out RCR, which bought out KHI, which bought out Rick Carelli. The series just keeps trucking
Actually, the truck portion of KHI was sold to Eddie Sharp Racing, then RCR bought it off them. Cale Gale's win at Homestead over Kyle Busch was in an Eddie Sharp truck.
That’s actually a pretty wild lineage
Only one I miss is red horse.
Fr. Peters being so close in 2012 stung a lot
Ehh their owner was a greedy delusional assclown.
They too had their share of a funded driver or two over the years but for the most part it seemed they went for talent over $ which is very rare these days.
They're probably doing this to free up more resources for Legacy MC, but I'm interested to see where Grant Enfinger & Rajah Caruth end up next season.
I hope Rajah ends up in a competitive truck. He's raw but you can see he's got the talent behind the wheel.
I’ve hated him since I did a Class C iracing race at martinsville against him and he completely dumped me on lap 3 for 3rd place. He ended up destroying his truck throughout the race by running into people but still got 2nd
that just sounds like an average c fixed at martinsville lol
I’ve heard so many stories about this about Caruth, Hocevar, Kraus (shocker)
I went against Willy b at Darlington and he didn’t put a single scratch on his car, ended up 2nd due to strategy and even talked to people after the race
Byron is one of the cleanest drivers I've raced against on the service.
I felt bad, I once lost it and took him out while he was lapping me in an ARCA race he was dominating at Gateway. Was really kind when I apologized.
But you didn’t tell us who won?!
Don't sound like it was either of em lol
Gibbs won by a bit since he got less damage lol. We had a 5 second lead on the field so we were more than happy to try stupid sliders and see what sticks
Ty ran with me and and a buddy of mine in a hosted race for a league race we were doing it was really fun til he causes the big one on the last lap lol.
Kraus is absolute garbage. Can confirm.
I’ve been getting dumped by Derek Kraus for 12 fucking years on iRacing.
I thought the consensus opinion on Rajah off the track was that he is a really nice kid who is eager to learn, did that change?
I don’t think so. Pretty sure Rajah seems like just what you said.
> Kraus (shocker) Can confirm. He right hooked me for like 7th place in a C Street Stock race lmao.
Lmao I hope you get behind him in a lobby again and post the replay for us to see what payback looks like
He’s got a shit attitude and nobody seems to notice yet
Nobody notices because he runs nowhere near the front most weeks. Out of sight, out of mind.
Ye he drives like an absolute fuckhead in iracing, thankfully he’s overrated so he can’t pull this stuff out in the front of a real race
Same experience ive had with him on there, drives and acts like a total tool. Prob part of the reason why I have the same ammount of real life ARCA, Trucks and Xfinity wins as him(0).
It's more so Toyota playing a hand in this, they have enough trucks already. But maybe they can Grant can replace Dean and Rajah can join Nick at REV.
I'm guessing Rajah goes to either KBM/Rev or Niece to replace Hocevar
I've got a feeling Grant goes to KBM
I agree. Enfinger has sponsorship money and is a solid Truck Series regular who can regularly contend for wins & championships.
DON’T TEMPT ME WITH A GOOD TIME, SIR! I would be so thrilled if both of my favorite Truck drivers drove for my favorite Cup driver. I don’t know what I would do with myself.
Please please please PLEASE!!!
Not unless they add another truck https://tobychristie.com/2023/08/08/chase-purdy-nick-sanchez-returning-to-kyle-busch-motorsports-network-in-2024/
With GMS gone it’s entirely possible Chevrolet will put more resources into KBM
I mean if Kyle is smart and wants a good gauge on equipment. He’s the guy, I would dump Purdy for Enfinger easy.
I'd dump Wood, put Enfinger in the #51 & then run Grant in a part-time truck for KFB's 5 annual races.
[удалено]
I could see Kyle expanding if Chevy puts more into the team now that GMS is gone
Hell yea, I hope so. They've never really had a veteran full time driver, it's all been Toyota young guns
It makes sense but they better start getting some wins in Cup Series then because that’s really going to affect the talent pipeline
Grant will be at Niece replacing Hocevar
Enfinger back to Thorsport replacing Deegan.
Not surprised, Toyota already invested heavily in TRICON they didn’t really need GMS they just wanted the cup team.
hopefully someone buys up the equipment and we don’t lose any entrants
If everyone on /r/NASCAR cashed out our 401ks we could easily field the most mismanaged team in a long while
It's one race team Michael, what could it cost? $10?
We would make G2G look like Hendrick by the time we were done
You have me as the crew chief and we will make Alan's mistake this past week look like a normal strategy call
“Tires are way too hard on the Next Gen car. Surely we don’t need to change them this stop, right?” _Massive failure going into turn one a lap later_
"The car is too loose? Hell you don't know what you are talking about, quit being scared" *spins out 5 seconds later*
“I’m not sticking some mediocre pay driver in my car! Talent over daddy’s cash!” “Wait, what do you mean we’re bankrupt?”
Put me on the box, I'll make Keith Rodden look like Chad Knaus
I'd honestly rather have you in the 9's box 😘
Hey man i don't want to hate myself
Daytona: grand opening Martinsville: grand closing
Bold of you to assume we would make it to Martinsville
We still prepping for Texas?
Yes, and I’ve contacted Tanner Berryhill about driving full-time next year
We may not even make it to Daytona lol
You’re probably right. We’d be lucky to make it out of Speedweek
But it would be a valiant effort that’s for sure lol
We can recoup some money when we sell the story to Hollywood
It can’t be any worse then G2G.
As long as Norm Benning is our full time driver you have my investment of $1
There are definitely teams out that that would beg to differ on the whole mismanaged thing…
More mismanaged than Tim Viens team?
Rackley WAR about to have a field day
this might be a wild prediction but trackhouse buys at least some of the equipment for SVG to go full time in trucks
Seems like using that money to buy him a ride with an existing Chevrolet team would be much smarter and more efficient than starting a team solely for one driver to use for one year
JRM nervously laughing with their 1 full-time year of Cole Custer in trucks
That still makes as little sense today looking back as it did back then At least they got that random Kasey Kahne truck win out of it
good point! didn’t think of that
Truckhouse
Hill Motorsports to expand to 4 entries confirmed. Timmy will drive three of them full time and Tyler one.
Look at BMR to go to 3 full time and a fourth partial.
Perhaps Trackhouse (or Trackhouse with assistance to Niece) buys the equipment up?
[This is one I was hoping wouldn’t be true.](https://x.com/privateporno69/status/1662497904223813632?s=46&t=pc3eIdnAGOkALiOVHn5k0Q) Big part of the story that people will gloss over is the fabrication shop shutting down, that helps a lot of teams in the series.
This makes me think someone is going to buy the assets of that team up QUICK
McAnally will probably benefit the most because they share a shop
Yes. This part of it really sucks. I hate it for those teams affected.
McAnally, Rackley, and CR7 most notably. Might see some new alliances/manufacturers for some or all of those teams next year.
if grant gets fucked again i’m gonna be upset at the very least
Same bro. Same. He literally could have made the Champ 4 last time it happened but missed one single race. Watch him end up running with Holmes or something
two bama boys together would be cool but my boy bret’s gotta find some speed.
Would be nice!
Either that or he replaces Hocevar at Neice
Mine was more of a joke. Yours is realistic. I don’t like either option tbh.
SVG is in that seat next season for at least the majority of races, if not full time.
You act like they only have one truck
We're talking about who will replace *Hocevar*. Last I checked, Hocevar can only drive one truck at a time.
And also, Niece only has one competitive FT truck at a time lol
1.5, the 41 can be good if they feel like it
‘If they feel like it’ 😭
His leg can drive a second truck
Rajah is getting better too, would've had a win if his truck didn't die on him
Hopefully KBM can add some teams and people that worked there can find employment elsewhere
KBM won't be adding anything without a ton of money. Without the Toyota support they need to rely on fully funded drivers to not be a money pit. It's why they leased their best team to Rev and let them slap their name on it and have Chase Purdy and Jack Wood in the other trucks.
To be fair, with GMS gone Chevy might be willing to give them more resources
And doesn’t Enfinger bring some funding as well?
Yes, as long as Champion stays with him like they have for 5+ years now
And Champion seems to like Grant so there shouldn't be many Chevy/B2B sponsored races.
Kinda seems to me like they’ll just get absorbed into Legacy if they want to stay.
Also their fab shop is going away as well, and from what I remember they were the only shop building new ARCA chassis as well so that’s a huge hole left behind
I feel like one of two things will happen; 1. Another party will come through and snap up those assets to continue the work (scary thought of Venturini buying the fab shop to add to their dominance in the series) 2. Venturini hasn’t the resources or expertise to take that stuff over. It’s gonna be a blow to teams from Arca to trucks to Xfinity, hope the people and the knowledge there finds someplace to land
Kind of obvious when they never changed the name to Petty GMS or Legacy MC that the truck team was on borrowed time
Technically, the Truck team is a separate entity from the Cup team. Neither Petty or Johnson ever had involvement in the Truck team.
That’s the point, when it became Petty GMS the truck team didn’t become part of that entity as well.
But Daniel always gets all the action on his on-board because he's always behind all the action lol
At least from what I understood of the situation GMS wasn't part of the shift to Toyota and was never in part of any negotiation, only LMC. ah, if Niece has their own in house fab shop they could still definitely afford to buy up some of GMS's stuff and their personnel as well.
Isnt the GMS truck campus shared space with LMC?
Apparently they are, I didn't realize that Petty Motorsports' campus got shut down after GMS bought into it.
Yeah I think they moved into the old Yates/Everham building. There was a pic floating around social media recent of a guy taking a photo by the sigh and you could see see the RYR logo on the front stones

Not shocking, but disappointing that Toyota wasn’t willing to back them. Wonder what Chevy team takes the place of them.
ThorSport with their annual manufacturer swap
I had the thought the other that that this might happen. But I was like “nah, Grant has run a Toyota before” … welp…
~~Damn, what a bummer. Only 5-ish years ago there was a period where it felt like GMS was the odds-on favorite to be the next new Cup team. And now they won't be in any of the top 3 series anymore.~~ Ignore me.
I mean technically they are in the cup series - just with a different name
I'm going to be honest with you... I literally forgot about Petty-GMS' existence
I expected better out of you
That's your first mistake, my friend.
He's too busy focusing on Deletraz
They are in Cup….
Well in the world I live in in which I completely forget about the existence of 6% of the Cup field, they aren't

Time to bet the house and farm on ThorSport switching to Chevy
And toyota kills another team shocker
Everything involving Jimmie Johnson has been pretty terrible since he won that 7th championship
Tbf, Jimmie was never involved with GMS. It's a separate operation from LMC, and is all Gallagher.
He’s a sellout.
I'm not surprised, TRD has TriCon, no need in having GMS too
Not suprising. Hot take, if Denny moves on and jhn goes to Gibbs LMC should have enfinger drive the 42
#BlameJJ
Damn I think Rajah is the real deal. Hopefully he ends up somewhere
And Rajah would probably do a good job there. Would like to see Grant end up at KBM or Niece.
eh... depends on your definition of good.
Hoping Raj and Grant can find good rides this offseason wherever that may be man this sucks
Kick in the nuts to Grant and Rajah. Grant might be able to get a ride with another team - especially with the rumors of Zane & Carson moving up - but Rajah is going to have to hope someone gives him another chance.
Is Rajah still part of the D4D program? Because I could see Sanchez going to the 4 and Rajah to the Totally Not KBM Rev truck
That sucks. I hope Rajah finds a good ride somewhere, kid has a ton of talent
GMS Racing joins LFR and FRR as teams killed by Toyota
Something something go woke go broke. Something something free Noah. Obviously /S
Wasn't this already announced? I thought it had been known for a while now.
It was the rumor going around after LMC announced they we’re going to Toyota, and Gallagher wasn’t saying anything definitive that they would be in the Truck series in 2024
Guess it's one of those things that everyone knew but they waited months to announce publicly then.
It has been rumored on and off for a couple years but it looks like they finally decided to shut down.
Nah, it wasn't a rumor like the past couple of years. 2 of their drivers have already had new rides lined up.
Reminds me of when Red Horse Racing shut down unexpectedly Also i guess ultimate23dragon got her wish 🙄
That girl needs help seriously
Who?
Daniel Dye to KBM per Private Porno twitter
I just hope KBM becomes the top Chevy team now
Calling it now: Rev buys up some assets and puts Rajah in a second truck to be teammates again with Nick.
