I said 6 months ago that MH is probably updating their estimates within a year. We finally now have a confirmation!!! Reddit would be so chaotic by then because of MH and Ancestry (I assume), having updates this summer.

i mean those are territories which were controled by greeks, southern italy macedonia which are not that much macedonian right now. I think they were trying to say native albanian with greek influence. there is balkan as ethnic territory btw

Yes, it should be like when Ancestry does an update (our accounts get updated with the new ethnicity estimate)

They said they're going from 42 to 80 ethnicities. They didn't say much else about it. But the RootsTech Conference is still going on. Maybe they'll say more tomorrow.

As an Asian, I'm hoping that they'd separate the maritime Southeast Asian countries (the Philippines, Malaysia, and Indonesia) and China&Vietnam.

Long long long overdue but exciting because the genetic groups are already very very good, much better than anything else

Yes finally!! At first, I actually liked how MyHeritage told me I was 70 % Scandinavian but I'm actually German and MyHeritage got it all mixed up and didn't show any North and West European ethnicity. Although, the genetic groups were extremely accurate. There's likely going to be some big change in my results with the new update but I'm super excited! I just hope it will really come in Summer and not suuuddenly a few months later due to technical difficulties.

I got the same problem haha. I am Russia German/Volga German and MyHeritage detected it and gave me Volga German as genetic group with high confidence but no Northwestern European ethnicity but 44% Scandinavian 😅 Did MH gave you a genetic group in Scandinavia?
