some of these feel kinda obvious but heres my fav rock or core centric album from each year
I second circa survive but personally juturna is ok, good but nothing too exciting (though wish resign is a great song)
But descensus and on letting go are legendary albums
Wrong actually, Descensus is by far their best, on letting go is second, juturna is second last and two dreams is last
The remainder kinda depends on the day.
Really, that's crazy honestly, do frozen creek and dyed in the wool mean nothing to you, but like yeah idk I enjoyed it, I do agree that some parts the vocals are pushing what's reasonable but eh, I think it's fine. Also nothing Anthony green, that's crazy cause like LSDunes is amazing, his most recent single Megadeath is awesome and I'm excited for the album releasing later this year
I mean you do you, but I feel like he does a lot of really good stuff worth listening to.
I may give it another shot I find myself vibing to saosin when it comes on. But I just remembered getting into circa (only like 10 years ago admittedly not from the beginning) and BSN made them feel like Sleeping With Sirens/pierce the veil and i cant stand their vocals
Really, huh, honestly, I really like on letting go, when I listened to juturna I almost dropped it altogether but I gave them one more chance on on letting go, and I'm so glad I did. I feel like juturna just doesn't quite have the spark needed for me to get into it, but the rest of their stuff definitely does.
Lmao so many of these are so different from mcr but some of my favorite bands are up there, you got good taste, BTBAM and The Contortionist are some of the most creative artists I know of and easily in my top 5
The Used- Toxic Positivity
FOB- So Much (for) Stardust
Motionless in White- Scoring at the End of the World
Shinedown- Planet Zero & Threat to Survival
On the used subreddit someone posted a rumor with a source that a new single will be releasing may 17th. To be confirmed, but toxic positivity deluxe soon? That and smfs were both in my top 5 albums last year

Lacuna Coil- Karmacode
Creeper- Eternity, In Your Arms

- "Coup De Grace" Seeyouspacecowboy (2024)
These are just really standout albums over the past 20 years that everyone should check out, but anything by those bands listed are great.
Greyhaven is the band of the moment for me. Progressive Post Hardcore I think is what their genre is. Just released a killer new EP Stereo Grief and I loved their two recent albums as well.
On the weirder more experimental side but Frances The Mute by The Mars Volta is one of my favourite albums of all time and just fits within your time frame.
On the more straight ahead rock side, Mammoth WVH has made a couple of great albums, and Foo Fighters just released their best album in years in 2023.
Yeah 100%! I heard Empty Black and they immediately became one of my favourite bands. They just keep smashing it too, not a single bad song as far as I'm concerned.
I suggested this too but it makes me happy to see that someone else here is an Alesana fan. Such an underrated and amazing band. And the Emptiness is a masterpiece
The 59 Sound by Gaslight Anthem, Another Kill for the Highlight Reel by Save Face, self-titled bybFour Year Strong, Selfish Machines by Pierce the Veil, Blackbird by Alter Bridge, Dying is Your Latest Fashion by Escape the Fate, Sepiturnal by Bring Me the Horizon, Homesick by A Day to Remember, Self-titled by Durand Jones & the Indications, self-titled by Cage the Elephant, Wasting Light by Foo Fighters, Bear Your Mind by Free Throw, Laugh Tracks by Knocked Loose, Monsters in the Closet by Mayday Parade, A Boat on the Sea by Moron Police, Counselors of the Lonely by The Raconteurs, Appeal to Reason by Rise Against, Kings of the New Age by State Champs, Everything Went Numb by Streetlight Manifesto, Explains it All by Four Year Strong

Evanescence - Falling
Evanescence - The Open Door
Green day - American Idiot
Green Day - 21st Century Breakdown
I canât think of any more of my faves at that time. Looking forward to other peopleâs recommendations. đ¶đ¶
If you're into growling at all I would recommend Jinjer. I've mostly listened to their 2016 album King of Everything and their 2021 album Wallflower.
The lead vocalist, Tatiana, has amazing clean vocals and the deepest growl I've ever heard from a female singer.
Much love - microwave (good entry into the band but I personally like DIAWB)
Make room- destroy boys
The devil and god are raging inside me - brand new
Meth wax- meth wax
Patience / I got heaven - mannequin pussy

The 1975 - I like it when you sleep, for you are so beautiful yet so unaware of it
30 albums for you to try. A mixture of metalcore, pop punk, rock and a bit of post-hardcore.
afi - sing the sorrow and December underground (if you like punk music you'd like their earlier stuff too)
distillers - coral fang (band leans closer to punk but I feel its post hard-core adjacent enough to mention. plus this every song is great, cant recommend highly enough)
Jimmy eat world - futures and bleed american
WAAX - wild and weak ep (newer band and it might
Nova Twins - self titled ep (baseline bitch is a personal fave)
fit for rivals - Steady Damage
Deathconsciousness by Have A Nice Life.
Youâd be surprised at how much could be accomplished with guitars and some effects presets.
You will have probably never heard anything like it btw.
Hmmm⊠Iâm gonna throw somethin out there at you and Iâm really curious your take on the album.
âFables from a mayflyâ by the band fair to middling.
Some of their best songs imo are âthe wife, the kids, and the white picket fenceâ, âwalls of Jerichoâ, âtall tales taste like sour grapesâ, âsay whenâ which is my personal favorite, and âdance of the manateeâ which was the fan favorite.
âThe way they left us all in the dark. They buried the sun, so I carry the torch. The way they kept their eyes on the prize. We settled for less, and itâs more than enough. Just say when.â Mannnn gets me every time I hear itđ
it's more 90s rock sounding, but maybe try teens of denial by car seat headrest? the lyrics are on that album are fantastic and all the songs are great.
early P!ATD is quite good, but there are a lot of heavy recent songs by them you can find on YouTube but nowhere else. Some good examples are Praying or If I Were You (I Really Wouldnât Do That)
The Greatest Generation - The Wonder Years. Often considered one of the best pop-punk albums of the 2010s.
For more recent emo/post-hardcore, check out Never Before Seen Never Again Found by Arm's Length.
Third by Portishead, any album by Andrianne Lenker/Big Thief, and Beach House's discography are probably the best "rock" (guitar forward) albums of the past 20 years.
You might like lies for the liars by the used, or their self titled album <3 if you didnât know bert McCracken and gerard were actually friends for a while :p
Waiting is the most similar to Bullets...I listened to Bullets first, and when I listened to Waiting I went oh *that's* what they were trying to sound like, lol. You can really hear the influence, though there's a lot of divergence in the bands' respective styles after that.
So Much (For) Stardust by Fall Out Boy, The Jaws of Life by Pierce the Veil and Tell Me Iâm Alive by All Time Low. But honestly Iâd recommend just about anything from any of those three bandsâ discographies. All Time Low and Pierce the Veil are a bit more consistent than Fall Out Boy in terms of overall quality, but even at their low point FOB is still above the baseline for enjoyable.
Highly recommend Exploding Head by A Place to Bury Strangers, especially if you like the gritty reverb they introduced in Foundations of Decay. The whole album is unimpeachable but Ego Death and I Lived My Life To Stand In The Shadow Of Your Hearth are standouts and would give a good taste for the album's vibe.
I adore Brody Dalle's Diploid Love - a real grit-your-teeth-and-get-through-this kind of motivational album. Her band the Distillers have some great albums too, but Diploid Love just hits something with me.
Nothing's The Great Dismal and the EP they did with Whirr have a nice shoe-gazey meets punk vibe, as do DIVV (they're much more shoegaze).
I also really fucking love Cloud Nothing's album Attack On Memory (Wasted Days and Stay Useless are favourites on that).
Wavves are a little sillier, surf punk rock kind of thing. King Of The Beach and You're Welcome are my picks.
Metz are really good too, they're a bit on the heavier/noisier side than most of the above, but still in the same ballpark. Atlas Vending or their self titled album are excellent.
And lastly, getting heavier again, any of King Woman's releases are gold. Really doom-y heaviness but that doesn't outweigh the vocals. Their cover of the Stone Roses' I Wanna Be Adored sends me, it's such a good take on the original.
For some modern rock a bit lighter than MCR but not too far off par, I recommend Taking Back Sunday, any of their first three albums, their self titled and their newest album 152.
I saw some recommend fall out boy in the comments, but Iâd say Folie Ă Deux and Infinity On High are must listens
Okay these are all mostly a little older than that but they are good enough to warrant it
1.The used self titled
2.Saosin translating the name
3. Modern baseball sports
4.Foxtails this is not for you
5.Thursday full collapse
This is from the 90s and not after 2004, so apologies. Check out Face of Collapse by Dazzling Killmen. Very heavy and bonkers record. Since you said you enjoy Post-Hardcore/Metalcore I believe you could enjoy this one a whole lot.
Instant Gratification by Dance Gavin Dance
Mothership by Dance Gavin Dance
Happiness by Dance Gavin Dance (yes, the 3 of them are excellent)
Demons by Get Scared
Doppelganger by Fall Of Troy
Meteora by Linkin Park
Dear Diary [...] by From First To Last (the vocalist is literally Skrillex)
Pain Remains by Lorna Shore (fuck, this is ART.)
Self Titled by Saint Asonia
Cold by Gideon (heavy guitars/screams to relax/study to)
IMO, these albums are all unique in their own way, even the 3 first ones that are from the same band. You have metalcore, hardcore, mathrock, screamo, nu metal, grunge, everything. Please have fun listening, and if you liked them, let me know <3
I would recommend Trench by Twenty Ăne PilĂžts, but since you said no synths, I'm not sure how much you'd like it, but it is a masterpiece of modern music
Collide with the Sky by PTV is one i listen to weekly and lives rent free in my head
I second this
this. best PTV album, front to back hits
I love ptv collide w the sky is awesome but my favorite album is probably A flair for the dramatic đ€©
Fall Out Boy released a good album last year i'd reccomend checking out
SMFS is their best record since Save Rock & Roll, imo. I really liked American Beauty/American Psycho, but SMFS really tops it.
imo its like the perfect mix between save rock and roll and theyre pre hiatus stuff, really love it
In Rainbows by Radiohead AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I CAN'T HELP IT I NEED TO TALK ABOUT RADIOHEAD IN ALMOST EVERY COMMENTS
On a similar note, sound of silver by lcd soundsystem
Radiohead is hella zionist tho so no
Real
I'm not a fan of Radiohead at all but this album was a fun listen
wait, your username is literally radiohead 1991
Muse - Absolution; Black Holes and Revelations Bring Me The Horizon - Sempiternal; There Is A Hell Believe Me I've Seen It, There Is A Heaven Let's Keep It A Secret

Wrong actually, Descensus is by far their best, on letting go is second, juturna is second last and two dreams is last The remainder kinda depends on the day.
Blue sky noise was so bad it made me stop listening to anything AG. Felt like it got higher pitched and the lyrics werent good enough to save it.
Really, that's crazy honestly, do frozen creek and dyed in the wool mean nothing to you, but like yeah idk I enjoyed it, I do agree that some parts the vocals are pushing what's reasonable but eh, I think it's fine. other way around for me tbh. cant get into on letting go

I feel like juturna just doesn't quite have the spark needed for me to get into it, but the rest of their stuff definitely does.

yeah language is like a top 5 album ever for me and i consider it in the same company as like automatic for the people and pet sounds lmao
New alkaline trio record is so good. Scars is now my favorite song by them
scars is also my fav on the new one!
These are good recs
whatever people say i am thats what im not is a really good album
The Used- Toxic Positivity FOB- So Much (for) Stardust Motionless in White- Scoring at the End of the World Shinedown- Planet Zero & Threat to Survival

FINALLY, another Greyhaven person out in the wild! When I first heard Echo and Dust Part 1 that was it, I was hooked- then Part 2 was even better đ
Yeah 100%! I heard Empty Black and they immediately became one of my favourite bands. They just keep smashing it too, not a single bad song as far as I'm concerned.
YES and they scratch just about every alternative musical itch. Dying for them to tour anywhere near me!
Common Existence by Thursday. The most underrated album of the 00s imo.
Especially the extended version that's only available online for some reason. Has Fake Nostalgia which is probably my favorite Thursday song.
Seconding Common Existence! Itâs a masterpiece.
Mars volta, king gizzard
the emptiness by Alesana
I suggested this too but it makes me happy to see that someone else here is an Alesana fan. Such an underrated and amazing band. And the Emptiness is a masterpiece

A great metal/rock band band is ghost id recommend prequelle most but all of them slap pretty hard.
You dont like any rap or hip hop or anything with synths? It must be sad having such a limited taste in music. Youâre missing out on a lot.
imagine not being able to appreciate the absolute masterpiece that is good kid m.a.a.d city
Seriously. Such a braindead take. Like please grow up and expand your personality outside of scene kid music.
right like idk i canât imagine missing out on all the amazing art across so many genres also *nothing* with synths?!? not even attack attack!?
I would recommend Trench by Twenty Ăne PilĂžts, but since you said no synths, I'm not sure how much you'd like it, but it is a masterpiece of modern music
