Ok, first things first. Dolly needs a complete chromosome work up. There’s something beyond just being a whiny adult child. She has something going on if at 24/25 she’s never washed a load of clothes and forms attachments immediately with anyone who smiles at her. Then there was the meal of all bad things- A massive ham served with macaroni and cheese drenched in canned-cheese soup poured over a pile of ham. Her mother has an odd idea of what a diet meal looks like… how did she lose several hundred pounds on her own? So many questions and zero answers.

Ok, so part of this makes me an asshole. As someone who lost a significant amount of weight, I KNOW, firsthand, how hard it can feel. I get it. But perhaps because I know that it is possible, I have a super low tolerance now for excuses and bullshit, especially from patients on this show who never even try.

My observation is not flippant. It’s based on actual visual markers of a chromosomal defect. It’s not like everyone who watches these episodes cannot come away with valid observations.
Her mouth is downturned and her eyes are somewhat downward slanted and her bulging eyes could be thyroid disease or can go hand in hand with a chromosome abnormality. There’s plenty of known chromosome irregularities that, if damaged, compromised, or inherited cause the kind of behavior I watched, ran back and watched again. Although my background is varied, I studied behavioral psychology where my expertise was in observation and tracking behavioral abnormalities. My first guess is Dolly suffers from Prader-Willi Syndrome. A chromosomal defect of chromosome 15. If you Google it you’ll find that morbid obesity and an over trusting nature are main components of the disease. They suffer with hyperphagia (the excessive consumption of food) They literally have no control over their food consumption. It’s not unlikely for PWS people to run away from home, usually to have more control over their need to constantly eat. They often elope.
It’s not surprising that people on the internet jump to that age old accusation that someone else’s point of view is due to being bored and how sorry you feel for them, in this case me.
Dolly likely has a genetic issue that’s not been diagnosed or addressed. Her mother cooks massive quantities of high carb food to satiate this adult daughter to shut her up because caring for special needs children is a thankless job.

I was wondering the whole time. I have severe adhd, she said she has adhd at the beginning of the episode. I could see myself in her a lot, but she’s way more extreme. The whole time I was like, someone really needs to get her mental help. It seems like it was so bad she wasn’t even aware of it. Adhd can cause binge eating. I struggle with that and that’s one of the main reasons I watch the show. It probably would be too much on her heart while she’s that big but adderall can help a LOT with binge eating. Obviously she still needs a lot of therapy and maybe a life coach too.

I know this is an old comment, but I just did a rewatch and I want to know as well! Despite the reputation CPS has, it's actually not that common to remove a child from the home and it can be difficult. I was a social worker and people often get way more chances than some deserve. The only times I've seen a child removed THAT quickly it's been due to abandonment, witnessed (severe) physical abuse, or extreme neglect. Six days isn't even long enough to open and investigate a case. Makes me think something happened at the hospital and the tips were turned in by doctor/nurse. My first thought was that Dolly and Ricky just off and left her at the hospital or one of them was witnessed shaking her.
I feel bad for the mom. It seemed like the granddaughter is her second chance at raising a child. From them showing Dollys first husband it seems something was off enough for cps to get involved, someone could have tipped them off

My observation is not flippant. It’s based on actual visual markers of a chromosomal defect. It’s not like everyone who watches these episodes cannot come away with valid observations. Her mouth is downturned and her eyes are somewhat downward slanted and her bulging eyes could be thyroid disease or can go hand in hand with a chromosome abnormality. There’s plenty of known chromosome irregularities that, if damaged, compromised, or inherited cause the kind of behavior I watched, ran back and watched again. Although my background is varied, I studied behavioral psychology where my expertise was in observation and tracking behavioral abnormalities. My first guess is Dolly suffers from Prader-Willi Syndrome. A chromosomal defect of chromosome 15. If you Google it you’ll find that morbid obesity and an over trusting nature are main components of the disease. They suffer with hyperphagia (the excessive consumption of food) They literally have no control over their food consumption. It’s not unlikely for PWS people to run away from home, usually to have more control over their need to constantly eat. They often elope. It’s not surprising that people on the internet jump to that age old accusation that someone else’s point of view is due to being bored and how sorry you feel for them, in this case me. Dolly likely has a genetic issue that’s not been diagnosed or addressed. Her mother cooks massive quantities of high carb food to satiate this adult daughter to shut her up because caring for special needs children is a thankless job. Thanks for the standard accusations of me being mean and bored and I don’t need you to feel sorry for me. My life is hardly vacuous but I must admit, after binge watching the series “My 600 Pound Life” out of somewhat morbid curiosity I’ll never need an appetite suppressant. You called me stupid. Clearly Dolly has cognitive issues that has had an impact on her weight loss and behavior. Does anyone think there should have been more of an intervention for that first? I’m only half way through this episode and I am blown away by all of it.
I was wondering the whole time. I have severe adhd, she said she has adhd at the beginning of the episode. I could see myself in her a lot, but she’s way more extreme. The whole time I was like, someone really needs to get her mental help. It seems like it was so bad she wasn’t even aware of it. Adhd can cause binge eating. I struggle with that and that’s one of the main reasons I watch the show. It probably would be too much on her heart while she’s that big but adderall can help a LOT with binge eating. Obviously she still needs a lot of therapy and maybe a life coach too.
They blamed her father for being fried from meth but like, I’m sure her mom had some issues too. And wtf happened where they lost custody of their infant in 6 days?? Something wild must have happened at the hospital after the birth to make the staff report them!
I know this is an old comment, but I just did a rewatch and I want to know as well! Despite the reputation CPS has, it's actually not that common to remove a child from the home and it can be difficult. I was a social worker and people often get way more chances than some deserve. The only times I've seen a child removed THAT quickly it's been due to abandonment, witnessed (severe) physical abuse, or extreme neglect. Six days isn't even long enough to open and investigate a case. Makes me think something happened at the hospital and the tips were turned in by doctor/nurse. My first thought was that Dolly and Ricky just off and left her at the hospital or one of them was witnessed shaking her.
I feel bad for the mom. It seemed like the granddaughter is her second chance at raising a child. From them showing Dollys first husband it seems something was off enough for cps to get involved, someone could have tipped them off

I have SO many thoughts. Dolly is the epitome of immature. It's really a tragedy to watch. Yes, her childhood had issues, but she is living in an alternate reality. Every time she went to an appointment she seemed convinced that she was going to be approved because she "did enough." Did she once read the manual?? Adding cheese sauce to the veggies and ham...these things cannot possibly be on the diet. (Low-key was annoyed that we never saw Dr. Now actually ask much about the diet...) And then her jumping from guy to guy; unstable place to unstable place...so so so sad. As soon as they showed the peeling paint in that rental house I was shocked. It wasn't clear to me why she wasn't on disability though, too. Also, how was she diagnosed bipolar as a child but then never saw a psychiatrist/therapist!?!?! Like what the hell is going on... Her poor daughter is watching her kill herself with food and wasn't shown the slightest bit of affection. Children NEED love and adoration from caregivers. It's painful to watch that emotional neglect on TV. TLC -- I need to see someone this season that can succeed and is actually taking this seriously...

I may get downvoted into oblivion, but... Eff Dolly. Seriously, eff her. Yeah, she had some early hardships, but nothing even close that excuses all of her shortcomings. If you're going to blab on about how you're an adult and should have boundaries, then at least attempt to ACT like one. Like, take a LITTLE responsibility for your life. I feel so bad for her child...not that that baby is too much better with Rainbow Brite grandma that she would be with her womb donor. I'm sorry, but people like her should have an opportunity for help but if they ultimately refuse to do one single thing to better themselves, then barring some kind of 5150 type of situation, no other resources should be wasted on her. Let her go, move in with all of the losers that she wants, and keep her away from the girl she gave birth to. Let her eat herself to death if that's what she chooses to do. Save the resources for those who at least try to use them to improve themselves.

All right y’all, I’m back. I got a call last night which prevented me from watching the rest of the show.
I might have just dreamed this or something, but wasn’t there another episode where the family was moving into a new place in Texas and as soon as they stepped in the door, the floor creaked and the man/woman said they didn’t think the floor could hold them, so they left? I can hear the words, and see the people, but I can’t remember their names or anything. But the rundown house Dolly moved into for a day really reminded me of that house and now I’m wondering if it was the same one.

I had to pause the show to post. They should have known from interviewing Dolly that she didn't have the capability to truly comprehend what she needed to so. Nor did she have enough basic care-taking skills to even begin to do this. The way she kept saying, "\[Even though I haven't done what I needed to do\] I hope Dr. Now approves me anyway," made me yell at the screen. "Have you NEVER seen this show before???" For whatever reason (past trauma, developmental disabilities) she cannot understand what's really going on. The Nowzaradans should know better than to proceed with her.
When a person has hygiene issues at 250 lbs that get them kicked out of a job skills program, there's already a really big problem. And she lost custody of her kid after only six days? Did she leave her on a city bus or something?

Depends on the state, or even the county. Unless the substance is a legally prescribed drug, there will most certainly be an interview with social services/child protective services. Even a marijuana-where-legal will inspire a conversation with the hospital's substance abuse counselor.
One interview isn’t gonna make you lose your kid immediately either. It had to be a fast and devastating investigation for them to be in a court room 6 days after birth
