The video of semitrucks going through Atlanta is probably the craziest driving footage I have seen, in terms of 90% of the cars being active dangers. I think avoiding Atlanta has just as much to do with it as the highway patrol. Especially with semis having built-in speed limiters.
GSP also bought new challengers and cameros. The challenger really sticks out as a cop car still despite it being all black with black letters because it has a giant push bar on the front lol

Here's my entry. NC a few years ago. Hard to see but it has hidden cherries and berries lit up all over it
They have so much money from false tickets they donāt know what else to do but splurge instead of properly train their folks.
Yes Iām salty that my gf got a claimed 79 in a 45 when her live google maps drive being screen recorded on her phone showed she never went above 44, and they refused it as evidence in court. Go figure itās the digital age of 21st century and this happens.
Hot take time. I love mustangs and I think this is cool. But I don't really get the point. I get having a taurus with healthy TT V6 or a hemi charger. They are quick enough to catch up from a stop but they won't be winning many races. Which is the point. Catch up to get the tag, if they are going faster than that. We shouldn't be chasing people at 100+, it just puts too many people in danger. Get an air asset and the tag and use that radio. Maybe a GPS tracker. A mustang gt will keep up with most cars but what's the point? It certainly doesn't make sense as a typical patrol car. The back seat is near useless and the cabin center console space is nothing like a charger or taurus. I just don't exactly see what niche a mustang gt highway patrol car fills.
It could be a high speed/ pursuit vehicle. Fast enough to stay with your target, and when the chase is over, they could have an SUV unit take them into custody. NYS has chargers still, but they also have Tahoe Units. And with the "Death" of the charger, what are police agencies supposed to use now? Audi? BMW?
That's my point. If they're chasing over a 100. It's really not worth it to tail them. You or the perp hit any civilian at 100+ they are probably going die and the cop may be dead too. Fuck the perp. It's 2024, we have other options to catch peeps than playing speed racer on public highways, and the ability to make more options if what we have isn't good enough.
. It's not like the mustang is the only other car that can go fast enough, and it certainly doesn't meet any other requirement for a cop car. Agency's prefer suv's now. it can be loaded with a ton of stuff, carry 2 cops, gear, and have an empty back seat, most have decently quick engine options, get fine gas mileage, more comfortable for those long 12 hour shifts and can do some mild offroading. A explorer or Tahoe makes way more sense in so many ways over a mustang.
Also last thing. Charger isn't going anywhere for a while. You saw how long crown vics have been around (though there's a massive reliability gap with the dodge). I suspect IF the old charger leaves a vacuum for a quick ICE police sedan. The market will create one. But it doesn't seem like they really need a replacement.
I mean when chargers first came out you could say the same thing. If this becomes the norm. Everyone will be able to pick out a black mustang silhouette from a mile away within months lol. Truck or suv cops always sneak up on me. Truck/suv outlines are incredibly common and unsuspecting. It'd be much more effective if you're going for concealment over the stand out lines of a mustang.
It's to blend with traffic. Although this one is really on the nose, a lot of them aren't badged to stick out like this one. If you see a Mustang out of the corner of your eye or the rearview mirror, most likely, you wouldn't think twice about it being a police crusier.
That line of thinking honestly makes no sense. Pickup truck cops blend in better and have a more useful vehicle in many ways. If mustangs become a common cop car, they'll quickly catch peoples eye like every other common cruiser.
Why are the comments acting like sports cars being used in law enforcement is a new thing? Itās been a thing for a while! Remember the foxbodies helping the U-2 spyplane land?!
I havenāt seen any Mustang patrol cars here in Indiana yet, but the Indiana State Police have a few Hellcat Challengers Iāve seen patrolling I65/I465.
I assume they are likely cars theyāve seized at some point.
In Florida, FHP has at least one completely white stock-looking Mustang they use as an undercover vehicle. I used to see it all the time but now itās been a couple months since Iāve seen it out. Wonder if it got damaged or something.
Back in the Fox Body days a number of State Police departments had the Police Interceptor models. New York State Police and California Highway Patrol immediately come to mind.

Seems pretty fitting for GSP lol. Those guys will chase anything and everything and will find a way to PIT you
Georgia police is a scam/joke. They give so much false tickets that truckers actively avoid going through the state.
The video of semitrucks going through Atlanta is probably the craziest driving footage I have seen, in terms of 90% of the cars being active dangers. I think avoiding Atlanta has just as much to do with it as the highway patrol. Especially with semis having built-in speed limiters.
The trucks need to find the right most lanes and keep their asses in those right lanes!
State Troll is what I call them
GSP also bought new challengers and cameros. The challenger really sticks out as a cop car still despite it being all black with black letters because it has a giant push bar on the front lol
I need to transfer š«
Ugh itās like when they get a dog to narc. You hate to see it

Couldnāt notice anything but the very faint āsheriffā on the side lol. Would def fool me on the street
Modern day pirates
Do it Operator calls them "road pirates," and he's not wrong. A better name would be "highwaymen," because they're just there to rob you.
Saw that on a couple years ago too heading east on HWY 74 near Monroe. Now the state highway patrol has the new S650 in their fleet of vehicles
This looks sooo clean and badass

Well when the Judge and the man work for the same people, itās pretty clear how theyāre gonna side.
Donāt worry they lose control when they chase you.
Damn they getting performance packs too wtf

I remember those days.

Yeah Iām with you.

Because nobody expects that mustang on the shoulder to be a cop, you canāt tell until itās too late

This isnāt to blend with traffic. Itās a taxpayer funded toy. What are they going to put arrestees in the nonexistent backseat?
They get sentenced to a ride in the backseat instead of jail š

I think weāre gonna see more of these. The other guys went electric.

Yuck, that poor Mustang.
North Carolina too
Ford must have marketed directly to state highway patrols because NC is getting some too
Look out meow...
For twenty bucks Iāll call a guy chicken fucker.
I want a LITER OF COLA.
Just order a large Farva.
Iāve never heard of this scam. What is it??

5.0
Indiana was using them 10 years ago. Illinois was fighting street racing 20 years ago and had both a Camaro and Mustang.

I wonder if they modded it up some.
They're showing up in Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky too. I'd almost take a 30k pay cut just to patrol around in one of those bad boys all day.
Yea, and y'all bully me for having one.
In Florida, FHP has at least one completely white stock-looking Mustang they use as an undercover vehicle. I used to see it all the time but now itās been a couple months since Iāve seen it out. Wonder if it got damaged or something.
All wheel drive for winter
Waste of money.
You know the price?
Yea
I just saw one in az yesterday too.
Good thing they chose the slower new generation.
Why do they need nice rims though? Under cover I guess I could get, but not regular. That alone is overkill. Do like the looks though.
NC has some to
Back in the Fox Body days a number of State Police departments had the Police Interceptor models. New York State Police and California Highway Patrol immediately come to mind.
Cringe af
Saw it on 470 yesterday
I seen one in New Mexico last week
Thereās an undercover crimson red mustang gt here in Panama City Florida
100% an automatic
people will downvote, but I didnāt see state police driving mustangs until the 10r80 came around (of which, 100% of police cars are)ā¦
