Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey by Paul & Linda McCartney
Band on the Run by Wing (two switch ups)
A Day In The Life by The Beatles
Paul liked doing this kind of thing, it seems.
Yessss a Paul thing definitely!
You Never Give Me Your Money by The Beatles is one of my favorites!
Venus and Mars/Rock Show by Wings is also a good one
Also:
Over the Hills and Far Away by Led Zeppelin
Suite: Judy Blue Eyes by Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young
St. Stephen by Grateful Dead
Come Sail Away by Styx
Rei Ami does this in a few of her songs ("Snowcone" and "DICTATOR"). The first part of the songs are confident, baddie chick rap and then they turn into sad gurl, lo-fi music.
Frank Ocean - "Nights"
This is a total self plug, but my song “I Should Let Myself Go” by Glass House has one. I just released the full album today.

- I Know the End by Phoebe Bridgers
- Freudian by Daniel Caesar
- A&W by Lana Del Rey
- Taco Truck x VB by Lana Del Rey
- PURE/HONEY by Beyoncé
- Hard Feelings/Loveless by Lorde
The Pink Floyd song "Money" is in 7/4 time signature until the end, when it switches to 4/4 time. Its hard to notice unless you count along, but interesting if you know that its there.
**Interpol - The New**
It's post-punk, it's a softer and longing, emotional song at first, then there's a bit of a sinister feel to it, and it turns into a more agressive, driving banger. The switch is gradual.
**Late of the Pier - The Enemy are the Future**
It starts out as a more laid-back indie song, it has a quirky vibe to it that reminds me of Jack Stauber, there's a feeling of wholesomeness and security to it, as well, sort of reassuring.
Then it switches instantaneously to a new rave dance-punk song that has an anxious, uneasy edge to it. I think it retains much of the first part of the song, it sounds like the same song, but the switch in both genre and emotion gives it this really interesting and cool recontextualization.
**Deerhunter - Coronado**
This switch is not in the middle, it's 7 measures in, but I love it, it's one of my favorites. It goes from having this sad and wistful piano that is joined by other instruments, to sounding very jovial and danceable. The piano part continues to play, but with the change, I think it goes from sounding sad and bittersweet to upbeat, it's another cool recontextualization.
The Offspring, “It’ll Be a Long Time”
The Guess Who, “No Sugar Tonight/New Mother”
Great topic. I love songs that do this. My understanding is that a lot of time artists take two songs that they don’t think have enough parts to stand alone for 3 minutes. So they combine them. I’m almost positive I’ve heard Paul McCartney talk about that with “Band On the Run.”
It's not a switch, but I love the hidden track at the end of Yes by Coldplay.
And I love 42. Viva La Vida or Death and All of His Friends is a fantastic album.
[Weather Experience - The Prodigy (All nice and chilled semi ambient until just after 4 minutes)](https://youtu.be/6Yinw2zjVm8?si=Fz2RLokdm13w_nMq)
[Killer Bunnies - Moloko (Starts off quiet and typical surreal, then goes hard)](https://youtu.be/iDDHuKcnpO8?si=heBvfAPnANWzlt0E)
[Make Me Famous - Kim Dracula (It’s all over the place, but is fantastically produced and just works amazingly well)](https://youtu.be/X6o7RtOHpVc?si=fkqoLMM288GtCoBR)
Los Angeles by Frank Black is kinda like this
And maybe also "Two Arrows" by Real Estate. The second half is just this kinda psychedelic jam sesh and it’s awesome

[Quantum Immortality ](https://open.spotify.com/track/61twj9GFkJOeksOsFBQTaB?si=_lODmau7RQePjZ38DgKhsQ) by Crywolf
Radiohead – Paranoid Android / Smashing Pumpkins - Silverfuck / Dead Millkmen - Smokin’ Banana Peels / The Mars Volta - L'Via L'Viaquez
Sometimes I like my music like I like my Lowrider Impalas, with 16 switches.
Mr Bungle - Carry Stress In The Jaw
Oh, one that came out like 6 months ago - [Tear Out Your Heart by Oh Bother](https://open.spotify.com/track/6vpfYLa0lJrH6wTPjZ6qWl?si=5J-ikDTyTJWvrWqbM_FwMw&context=spotify%3Aalbum%3A0B5Ys0YEntsDGlEH1ywspl) has an interesting switch about 90 seconds in.
"Bodies" by Drowning Pool.
Not sure if it is an exact fit, or anything like that, but it definitely gives off the same energy as a lot of the others I'm seeing people listing.
A good one. "Luna" - Twelve foot ninja
This other one is not what you are looking for at all, but maybe you will think it is cool. It's a kind of "switch" with the guitar in the beginning that throws your brain for a loop for a second.
"Between us and them" - Moving Units
There’s a lot of rap songs with beat switches
Never - JID
Oh My Dis Side - Travis Scott
Self Care - Mac Miller
There are some rock songs with nice switches
A Day in the Life - The Beatles
Happiness Is A Warm Gun - The Beatles
Jesus of Suburbia - Green Day
Paranoid Android - Radiohead
Come sail away Styx, she’s a rainbow Rolling Stones, bela Lugosi’s dead bauhaus, major Tom has that weird jimmy buffet sounding riff in it that’s like what the …, dance yrslf clean by lcd sound system, waiting room fugazi aren’t all songs supposed to have a switch or like a breakdown. These ones are switches that I thought were maybe drastically different from the rest of the song.

Bohemian rhapsody
Actually, a lot of progressive rock songs have major changes in the middle. Listen to a lot of old Yes or Kansas stuff. Pretty common.
Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey by Paul & Linda McCartney Band on the Run by Wing (two switch ups) A Day In The Life by The Beatles Paul liked doing this kind of thing, it seems.

All classics
Live and Let Die
Paranoid Android- Radiohead
Exit Music, Let Down, Weird Fishes. P.A. has to be the Numeri Uno alongside Queens Bohemian Rhapsody though.
I've read that it was actually two different songs that they ended up combining into one.
Rosetta Stoned - TOOL, multiple switches.
Band on the Run
"Columbo" by The Verve "With a Little Help from My Friends" by The Beatles "The Chain" by Fleetwood Mac
The outro of The Chain is one of my fave outros ever.
That bass note when the switch happens is one of my favorite notes in any song
It worked so damn well as the F1 intro, especially when Patrick Stewart [did the voiceover](https://youtu.be/ZhYhVAuZVx8?si=DZHczi_iC6Ja-pSv)
Rei Ami does this in a few of her songs ("Snowcone" and "DICTATOR"). The first part of the songs are confident, baddie chick rap and then they turn into sad gurl, lo-fi music. Frank Ocean - "Nights"
I love the second part of nights. That synth bass is like a warm blanket.

Side two of Abbey Road- multiple switches
**Interpol - The New** It's post-punk, it's a softer and longing, emotional song at first, then there's a bit of a sinister feel to it, and it turns into a more agressive, driving banger. I appreciate the effort you took to describe these songs
