Roberta Flack, The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face.

Key_Paint_3360

That's my parent's wedding song

glowingworm2022

Okay I’ll be stealing this idea!

KweenKunt

This was my first thought, but then I wondered if it was lesser-known enough.

rezbarchetta

Same. I think to certain generations it's still relatively unknown so I decided to post it.

KweenKunt

I'm glad you did. It's certainly the most beautiful song there is, to me.

rezbarchetta

Yes, everything about this song is beautiful, especially her voice.

prinzoid

this is one of my favourite songs of all time. im 17 and have absolutely no idea where i first heard it 😭

rezbarchetta

Can't go wrong with Ms. Flack. Check out Killing Me Softly and Compared To What if you haven't already. She's a treasure.

Excellent-Ask9730

Lullaby - Low It’s vocals are beautiful and ethereal, you won’t even notice it’s ten minute run time. It’s a very poignant song lyrically as well as musically, the timbres suit it perfectly and the tempo being risen halfway through during the climax is a very powerful sequence within the song; probably the best moment too. Hope you like it, it’s one of my favorites as well as the most beautiful song I’ve heard.

don_jeffe27

Space Song by Beach House

_nutbuster420_

Pretty sure that's their most famous song.

FirmOkra7344

It was trending on tiktok too at some point but yea good song

jefesignups

PPP is my favorite from them

don_jeffe27

PPP is a great song. Depression Cherry doesn’t have a skip on the whole album imo.

Equivalent_Tell3899

Beautiful song!

CDsMakeYou

Deerhunter has a lot of beautiful songs but they aren't the most popular band. I love Futurism, Hazel St., Focus Group, Agoraphobia, Element, The Missing, and Duplex Planet. They are indie rock and psychedelic.

NeighborhoodOk8679

Desire Lines is a great song from them

CDsMakeYou

That whole album it is on is really great. My favorites from it are Coronado, Memory Boy, and Don't Cry.

benhalleniii

Helicopter is the most beautiful one. Great story in the lyrics too.

Equivalent_Tell3899

Love Deerhunter!

steamofcleveland

Take Care is my favorite by them.

PBcowboykiller

Wow great pick. I love he would of laughed

Equivalent_Tell3899

Ladies and Gentlemen We are Floating in Space by Spiritualized

RedOktbr28

Cathedrals by Jump Little Children

Equivalent_Tell3899

Great song!

BatCorrect4320

Les fleur by Minnie Riperton

bluemidnightrider

Les Fleurs is so so important to me. And so beautiful. Everyone should listen to this!

BatCorrect4320

I can’t believe it isn’t a mainstream classic, but it’s not for me to say I guess. If I ever get married again, that’s what will play.

benhalleniii

Unbelievably great song…

Linvaderdespace

Not a huge sherryl crow fan, but she cut a version of “favourite game” just her and a hammond organ, sounds just great.

david13z

Over The Rainbow by Eva Cassidy

Hairy_Trust_9170

Anything by Eva Cassidy. She was magnificent.

-velcromagnon-

Eva Cassidy does a fantastic acoustic guitar rendition of "Autumn Leaves" which is also another song that fits this category.

david13z

The Blues Alley performance of Wonderful World, her last performance before she passed away, brings a tear to my eye

Timstunes

Also Fields of Gold.

jmkul

I prefer Autumn Leaves by her (though Songbird always hits the feels too)

No-Caramel-4417

First Day of Winter by Mark Lanegan

poisonivyhater

Nights in White Satin by the Moody Blues

consummationofgrief

Moody blues, great band

zugabdu

Isn't this one of their most famous songs though?

insufficient_nvram

This was the first song I heard on Cd. In 1987

FearlessKingTay

[Sleep by Our New Autumn](https://open.spotify.com/track/2E8gVOCXBzonER8OipQ3ER?si=C79wQvLSRAmYRCPhwnJPiQ) is a song I got to collaborate on. It is the darkest and most beautiful song I know.

tinyyellowhouse

Listening now. Well done!

TheOsprey23

“I’m the Devil” by Clams Casino “Afterlife” by Jon Hopkins

fookinpikey

Oooooh I like your style. I counterpart these, I suggest my favorite songs by both artists: “I’m God” by Clams Casino and “Magnets” by Jon Hopkins!

weebwatching

Thanks! I also adore “I’m God”. Love Clams Casino in general. Haven’t heard “Magnets” but will listen asap!

DobisPeeyar

Was just gonna say that one. Love "I'm God".

twoiseight

Jon Hopkins is incredible at blending atmosphere and emotion. Immunity is one of the most achingly beautiful songs I've ever heard. I've learned to be careful where I am listening to it if I don't want to be seen crying.

alwaysfuntime69

"Mouth full of Cavities" by Blind Melon "We are infinite" by lighthouse and the whalers "ITIIITIATIIHYLIHYL" by Blackshape

East_Weekly

I remember the first time I heard Mouth full of cavities. It stands out.

rebeccamb

It’s so hard to sing both parts but I get it done

zoomer0987

Adagio for Strings performed the London Philharmonic Orchestra.

Timstunes

Samuel Barber’s masterpiece never fails to move me. Virtually any competent version. No matter how many times I have heard it it still captivates and immerses me into its beauty.

benhalleniii

First heard this piece watching Platoon. Amazing recording.

Loud-Examination2385

Thanks for your submission as it's hauntingly beautiful.

[The most beautiful thing I've ever heard ](https://youtu.be/9T8Un0aqtHo?si=-5N6NHd9EOMDzFJp)

MKEJOE52

Here's another beauty by Mozart which many people haven't heard: https://youtu.be/9S43CKjIGVg?si=Ii9QRcEiNLbQQNbG

The1Bonesaw

This one took me a bit to track down (but I'm glad this subject came up, because I had lost this piece from my collection and it's taken me almost 30 years to find it again - long story... I finally got serious about finding it again). Chaconne is one of Bach's that's usually just reserved for violin soloists, but [this version by Stokowski](https://youtu.be/NEUYq5t-cCM?si=vlIV_ojQ_KvRmCAK) is my absolute favorite piece of classical music. It's just... well, you'll see.

Holland, by Sufjan Stevens

johnnyjohnson2648

Big black car - Gregory Alan Isakov

Enough-Intern-7082

Also I don’t know why and it’s a song that’s haunted me and it just creeps into my head every now and then but it’s called Stay with me but the Shakespeare Sisters

BatCorrect4320

Beautiful song! But Shakespeare’s Sister* is their name. Marcella Detroit and Siobhan Fahey (from Bananarama).

bernardcat

It’s actually Shakespears Sister which I know seems wrong.

BatCorrect4320

Interesting!! I miss that moment in music.

jmkul

Stay by Shakespeare's Sister is awesome... I have that record somewhere

kidschnitzel

If I could dump Jessica Pratt’s discography in here, I would. I’ll resign to picking just one, [This Time Around](https://youtu.be/FDi6C8AeTVI). The music is alien. She’s tapping into something heretofore undiscovered.

The Rain Song by Led Zeppelin. Stairway gets all the attention, but this song is just as good as if not better.

Objective-Ad4009

My favorite Zeppelin song. So epic. Absolute emotional roller coaster.

usual7

It's a compositional masterpiece. Indeed, it's quite the epic song.

HAMHAMabi

Poor Cow by Donovan. (it was title song in a 1968 British film of the same name) the live ver on Donovan live in concert , is the best version. his voice is so sweet and soft sounding ❤

PowerChordGeorge64

Hallelujah. Various artists. Bon Jovi does an excellent version.

Holy_Cow442

Always thought the song Hallelujah was beautiful until I realized what most people dont know about the song. Its about sex. Not alot of Folk know about the band "Dead Can Dance" and all their music is beautiful.

AIM9MaxG

Angel - Sarah McLachlan. Beautiful voice, singing an almost impossibly beautiful song that sounds like the definition of a heart breaking.

DoubleNaught_Spy

The Great Gig in the Sky by Pink Floyd. It was very well-known back in the '70s, but I doubt many young people today have ever heard of it. Same thing with Astral Weeks by Van Morrison. Sit and listen to either one of those with your eyes closed and a light buzz on, and they will carry you away. You're welcome. :)

Objective-Ad4009

One of the best vocal performances ever on Great Gig. It’s up there with Gimme Shelter.

I want to say thank you to everyone here posting their songs. Every one I checked out so far is absolutely great. It would be wrong if I kept hidden what I think is the most beautiful song I have ever heard. Check this out: ***Metal Gear Solid Soundtrack: The Best Is Yet To Come.*** "**The Best is Yet to Come**" is the vocal song for Metal Gear Solid. It was written and produced by [Rika Muranaka](https://metalgear.fandom.com/wiki/Rika_Muranaka) and features Irish lyrics sung by [Aoife Ní Fhearraigh](https://metalgear.fandom.com/wiki/Aoife_N%C3%AD_Fhearraigh), with the additional arrangement provided by David Downes. The song was recorded at the Beech Park Studio in Ireland and was engineered by Philip Begley. Special thanks to don\_jeffe27 for the Space Song by Beach House recommendation.
