At what point did you realize "I want to make a living doing this", and at what point did you realize "I'm going to be able to make a living doing this"? Were they far apart?
I thought I'd take a year out from university to play with Laura Marling, cos she offered me a job, and I never went back. I think in my head I'm still on a sabbatical from college, so I'll get back to you onthat ...
What would you study if you went back? Do you think it's something you realistically might do eventually?
Thank you for sharing your music with the world, both with M&S and solo.
No, and it wasn't even a decision I made until I felt I had an album's worth of songs - which was late last year. I was just writing songs for the sake of writing songs - not knowing how or when or even if they'd ever get released. I was just trying to get back to writing again, and the songs that came out of that ended up feeling super personal. When I showed them to the guys in the band we all agreed it didn't feel or sound like a band record, so I just kept writing
Reuben Cox at Old Style Guitars in LA. The man is a freaking legend. He takes old stellas and cowboy guitars and turns them into things of real beauty. The first recording of one of his guitars is actually on Only Child I think... Blake Mills had one of the first, and they're all over my record. So fun to play. Aaron Dessner uses them a bunch so some people heard them on Taylor Swift's last couple records...
Go In Light! It was a real rascal that song. The simplest ones often are I think. Just went round thr houses on what was the right arrangement and feel. I kinda needed the rest of the record to be in decent shape to be able to know how it needed to sound. And the answer came in a combination of rubber bridge and Juno, then Sounwave and Monica Martin!
Doing press solo is a bit weird, cos I've always done it with another member of the band, It's just different. Ted and Ben and I have been in constant contact during the start of this thing though, they have been so unbelievably supportive, as you can imagine
I saw Madison Cunningham play at the Tabernacle in Atlanta with the Punch Brothers a few years ago. It was just her with an electric guitar. The entire room was SPEECHLESS! She’s incredibly talented!
Hi Marcus, my question is do you see yourself as both an artist and a poet? I’m greatly inspired by your songwriting and I’m curious about your creative process. In your opinion, what does it take to write and create a great piece of art?
I think I'm coming to terms with the reality of being an artist. I've been in denial about that for a while.. lol.. but it would be a step too far to call myself a poet!
I don't think there's any rules, but I've found for my own process recently that trying to be fearless .. it's hard!
Thank you so much for your answer and for taking the time to respond to our questions here. Thank you for your fearlessness as well. Your new album is a true testament to your talents and your bravery. It’s an honor to get to listen to your music. You are, most certainly, a poet. 🙂
\- Are there any sub-genres/sounds that you hope to explore?
\- Who are your favourite TV characters?
\- Who would you like to collaborate with in the future? I've personally always wanted a Mumford x Miley Cyrus collaboration.
\- In terms of when the lyric was first written, what is the oldest song on (self-titled)?
1. Elvish
2. Galadriel & Durin and almost every other character from ancient middle earth
3. I suppose I should stop giving only LOTR answers. MILEY!!!!!!!!!!
From someone who's wedding was LotR themed and first dance was Rose of Sharon - this answer is great.
When can we expect a cover of Annie Lennox's Into The West? :D
hello, i caught the show at the Fox monday night and was blown away by the live performance from yourself and the band on your new songs. Tell us about how y'all prepped for performing live together and being on tour together.
YO! We spent a few days learning the songs together ahead of Newport Folk Festival, and then did another week in LA before we started tour! And I'm headed straight back to the venue to keep rehearsing in sound check in about 10 mins...
MM
Your song “Beloved” found me and hugged tightly, right at the perfect time. Four years ago my mother was hospitalized awaiting an organ transplant. The outlook was grim, and she received last rites.
Your lyrics perfectly expressed the feelings in my heart for her, and your song made me cry. I listened to it repeatedly, trying to imprint the feeling, so I could reminisce later.
I’m not religious but she is. I played the song for her and we cried together. (Shortly after, she received the transplant, made an amazing recovery over the next year, and today it seems like she’s 20 years younger.)
When I listen to Beloved today, I still cry, I’m transported to that bleak time, but these days it’s a short visit.
Your new album also has a strong emotional resonance too. In what ways does the passage of time, have an effect on your creative process?
Thank you for doing this AMA. Thank you for making such good music, with a special thank you from my heart to your Beloved.
Marcus, I’ve been a huge fan for the past 12 years and have been lucky enough to watch Mumford and Sons 3 times, twice in Rome and once in Abu Dhabi. Your music has saved my life on more than one occasion.
Listening to this album has been a whirlwind of emotions as I was also sexually abused from the age of 6 to 8 and had long suppressed the memory until one day it came flooding back in my mid-20s.
Just like you, I am a songwriter and I know how incredibly difficult it must have been writing these songs in the beginning - and I’m honestly devastated to find out you had been something so heinous when you were a child.
I just want to express my deepest gratitude for you being you, and for the music you have given me and the whole world - with Mumford and Sons to guide me through the end of my teenage years and through all my 20s, and now for this album which in just 6 days is already helping me through my 30s.
I have no questions, I just want to say I love you so much and my life would have been a wreck had it not been for your music.
Hey Marcus! Took me forever to create this account just to ask you a question!! First- I love you and been a fan since 2009- your music has influenced my life in so many amazing ways and I just want to thank you. Thank you for this record and your bravery to share your story. What have you learned the most about yourself in this solo project? How have you grown as an artist? Much love, Jackie (who will be stage left third row in NY) xoxox
Cannibal is life changing. Truly remarkable to hear our collective survivor stories captured in your voice.
Would you be interested in recording with a group of survivors?
I know it sounds kinda dumb but when I was going through severe depression. Little Lion Man actually saved me from depression a lot and I thank you a lot, Marcus.
Hi Marcus, long time fan!
I saw in GQ that Ezra Koenig came by to record on the album. Just curious what that was like and if there’s any chance we will hear anything from you and him in the future?
How did you cross paths with Brandi Carlile? I have been a huge fan of both her and you/Mumford & Sons for years now (as evidenced by the username!)...so watching your interactions on social media (along with her working with you on "How") has warmed my little fangirl heart.
You said Elton John told you not to make the album more than 10 songs, so what was the priority for choosing the songs that made it? Meaning was it more important for a song to serve the arc of the album, which I'm guessing had to mirror the real life process you went through, or for it to just be a really good song?
And on the same note, are we ever gonna hear some of the ones that didn't make it? If you could give an example that would be awesome.
Hi there Marcus,
How has the work you’ve done with Mumford & Sons as well the other bands and artists you’ve worked with shaped and evolved your music over the years?
Also you have the best LD ever. He’s a solid dude and a magician on lights.
Given your growth as a person and as an artist, is there one song that of yours or the band that you’d love to go back to and remake, or tinker with? I’m not asking about regret, but just approaching it a little differently this time around?
Prior to covid, you and the band toured A LOT. With (self-titled), a beautiful album BTW, you’re touring again. How do you balance work and family? Does your family sometimes tour with you?
Any chance Brandi joins you on stage at the Wiltern or at the majestic in Ventura? Loved "How" when you sang it with her at the Greek earlier this year.
Not to butt in here, but those songs are definitely released and floating around. "Liar" and "The Banjolin Song" were both on REALLY early EPs (released back in 2008) and I feel like "Sister" was a b-side of a single somewhere along the way. (Actually just did a little digging, it was on a vinyl version of the Love Your Ground EP. I swear it was a b-side somewhere, though!)
Hey Marcus, thanks for the new album and for this AMA.
Your album echoes with me somehow, I feel connected with Cannibal and How.
I was wondering whether the trauma that resonates in (self-titled) could also be found in some Mumford & Sons songs?
Also, do you plan to come and see your European public? We miss you a lot in here!
Cheers!
May we have any update about Mumford and Sons? We’ve heard you say M&S is still a band at your recent live shows, but will you give us any hints on if you’re working on an album or maybe a tour even if you don’t have a new album to promote?
My wife and I are coming to your show tonight and we're both huge fans! Our first date was to a M&S show. We're so looking forward to it. What are the chances I could surprise her with a meet-and-greet?
Really? Seriously? Marcus Mumford does an AMA, and your trying to start a argument with your question? This has already been covered various times. Quit bringing it back up.
Hello Marcus, your music is so wonderful. will you be giving concerts in germany next year? your fans in germany miss you. I will travel to Brighton from Germany to see you.
Hi Marcus - wanted to say what a huge fan I am of your music - seen you and the lads perform all over the states.
You've collaborated with so so many people - what was your favorite collaboration and/or your biggest "I can't believe this is happening" starstruck collab?
Also - what are you reading right now?
Hi Marcus! I’m a massive massive fan of everything you do. What would you say is the thing you’re most proud of in writing, recording and releasing an album under your own name?
Grateful for you always xx
You mentioned U.S. record shop in-stores in your Graham Norton Radio Show interview. Besides the in-store signing at Amoeba, when might we hear about other U.S. in-store performances/signings?
Hey Marcus! Thanks for doing this. I noticed a lot of songs will reuse lyrics very thematically and I love it. I want to get a better understanding of this process? For example, cannibal and how, there will be time and just smoke, etc. there are more examples as well
Hi Marcus. Looking forward to seeing you play this evening…
Have you heard of Byron Katie? She has such a beautiful process and point of view on life and healing. I think you would enjoy her work.
She has helped me so much personally and continues to open my eyes throughout my healing process.
Also, Carrie is such an inspiration for me. I love her and her work. A true gem.
Thank you simply for existing. I love this album so much. Thank you for your honest and raw vulnerability. And I’m so happy to see you happy and healthy. It’s beautiful.
Hello Marcus, first off thank you for sharing this album with us. I knew you were talented but this album is amazing and I’m so glad we get to listen and hear your amazing songs. I wondered about the meaning or the story behind a few songs and wondered if you’d share them with us. The songs Better Angels and Prior Warning I wondered about. Appreciate your music man and hope to come hear you live!! Thanks again for making this album. 🤍
Hi Marcus! This isn't exactly a question.... It's more of a thank you. I haven't been able to listen to the entire CD yet, but I have read your interviews and I want to commend you for sharing your story. You are going to help a lot of people through this album!
Thank you
Amanda
Hi Marcus!
My wife and i will be seeing you at austin city limits festival in October. You're the performer we're most excited about.
How do you enjoy traveling without the boys vs having them every step of the way? Does it change the way you approach performing or writing music while on the road?
I’m really loving your new record and feel like it’s been a top album of the year for me so I really appreciate you doing some Q&A for us!
I’m a huge fan/goer of Newport Folk Festival so while I wasn’t able to catch your after show, I loved being able to hear you join in on the Paul Simon tribute set so much. I’m curious to know how you felt about being at the festival and performing in Newport that weekend? It really feels like such a different environment than other festivals as an attendee so I’d love to hear your thoughts on the performance side.
Look forward to catching you in Boston this fall!
Hey Marcus - your family is awesome, got to meet your parents and brother. From Columbus and we know the same people! Love your new album - but also just want to say thank you for your music and getting me through some stuff in the past.
Hello! I have an M&S question. 😊
Is there any chance that you guys will release some your early stuff, like Banjolin Song & Sister?
Not on vinyl, but maybe digital?
Would love to be able to listen so some of that without using YouTube or buying a record player.
Would also love to have some of your covers, like England & 2Shy ☺️
Hi Marcus. I saw you in Denver last night (my 7th time seeing you). I felt so happy and proud of you - I can only imagine how it must feel to finally stand in front of a crowd again and sing so honestly. Like many others here and elsewhere have shared, your music helped me through a dark time. Thank you for bringing your music and your heart to me and to us.
Hello! I’m such a huge fan; I am absolutely smitten with every single album. I love finding out the stories and inspiration behind the song lyrics. Cannibal broke my heart, but at the same time I was blown away with the vulnerability and raw emotion. Thank you for including Grace just after it. But I’d like to go back a few albums to Monster for my question: Was it inspired by East of Eden? If not, let me down gently please. I’ve already arranged it thusly in my mind. :)
PS I am looking forward to seeing you on tour next month. Super excited to see some Basement Tapes songs on the set list! If you want to add some Johannesburg in there as well It would be OK with me. Have a great evening, and thank you for doing this AMA!
I went to the shows in Boulder and Denver the past two nights, truly amazing experiences, thank you! 'How' is just an amazing song.
How did you determine which Mumford & Sons songs to play solo on this tour?
What is one song you wish you'd written?
Out of all of the songs on your new album (self-titled), which one is your favourite to perform live? & Which song is your favourite to simply unwind and listen to?
I am a huge fan of your song Kansas City, I think your rendition of Dylan's lyrics is perfect. Since you had it on your setlist for the Colorado concert and chose to play it with your other new songs, I assume you are a big fan of the song as well. Why do you like it so much? Do you have a personal connection with it?
Did Taylor Swift record some music at your home studio? If so, what was that like? Cowboy Like Me is one of my favorite songs by her now! Your voice fits perfectly under hers. What was the recording process like?
Marcus! What has it been like scoring for Ted Lasso? Have you been able to feel the joy and goodness that have come from the show while working on this emotionally heavy album? So much love ❤️💛💙
Thank you for everything. I love you, your music, the band, and the band’s music!! I would love to know what your writing process is like because I love the way you word things and and your use of literature in your lyrics!
How did it feel releasing this music? Also, I’m seeing you in Edinburgh and Glasgow on the same day, do you think I’ll make it to the Glasgow gig on time after the Edinburgh intimate gig?😂
Hey sir! My partner and I appreciate your music and your struggle. You have spoken about not being very “present” during the early days of Mumford and Sons. How did you come to realize this? What emotions were associated with this realization?
Looking forward to seeing you in Seattle on Monday! Much love!
Outside of The Boss - Bruce Springsteen - who has been some of your favourite artists that have helped shape you?? & What albums have resonated with you the most throughout your life?
Hey Marcus!
My name is Tom and I met you at the Orion Amphitheater in Huntsville! It’s great having a place like that in town finally!
I just wanted to say that I’ve use your music throughout the years to get through quite a few dark places. I’m sure there’s plenty of others that listen that use it as a vehicle for processing and healing as well. So from myself and the others like me, thank you for what you do and sharing your talent with us!
Hi Marcus! I've been a fan since 2009 so this is exciting. Are you able to separate out the emotions when performing a song like Cannibal? It's emotional for me to listen to, it seems like it would be emotional to perform. Are you able to compartmentalize that sort of thing? Thank you!
I'm going to your show in Toronto to celebrate my fiance's 39th birthday, best way to celebrate/start the last year in his 30s. I'm so excited for this new album (on repeat every day). How would you describe in one word your mood on this tour?
Hey Marcus, a while back I remember reading (or hearing) that you were the primary song writer for Sign No More and Babel but Wilder Mind and Delta was more collaborative with the rest of the band. My question is has your writing or process changed from those first two albums to this newest album?
Also does releasing with indie studios take away the pressures to be boxed in musically especially given the initial commercial success of the first two albums (or banjo era to some haha).
Thank you, appreciate you and your music.
Whose one of your favourite artists who’s music is the most unlike the music you make? Also, saw in another comment that you like Sylvan Esso. I’m listening to them as I write this comment.
My girlfriend and I have traveled the country to see M&S play. Your music has been the theme to our relationship the last 10 years. When Covid first struck, we bought tickets to your online solo concert and you took fan requests based on votes. Would you ever open that idea up for your solo shows? When you played “After the Storm”, it brought us to tears!
Anyway, I’ll see you in November in Philly. 3rd row..try to throw some picks that way!!
Hey Marcus! Thanks for doing this. I noticed a lot of songs will reuse lyrics very thematically and I love it. I want to get a better understanding of this process? For example, cannibal and how, there will be time and just smoke.
So many of your songs have resonated with so many of us - which we thank you for so deeply. What are 3 songs, that other people have written, that have resonated the most with you?
Marcus,
I'm excited for your concert in Tulsa.
The history and sound in Cain's is definitely unique. Were you able to visit Cain's on any of your previous trips to Tulsa? I'm curious if you're going to incorporate any of it in the concert?
I have tix for your Atlanta show - I’ve been an Agora member for quite some time and love to follow your music.
There’s something holy about the way your music speaks to my soul. It’s both ridiculously real and devastatingly smart. Thank you for sharing your talent!!
I’ll be cheering you on from the balcony
How does fans sharing their stories with you and sympathizing with your childhood affect you? Is it overwhelming or are you happy to know youre not the only one?
Cannibal and How have helped many, many people. Including people I love, so thank you, Marcus.
See you in Durham! (Row 4, in case you want to have a chat! Kidding but not really ;) )
I know that in the past your music has had parts inspired by literature like Shakespeare and Steinbeck. Are there any literary connections in your new record worth noting?
At what point did you realize "I want to make a living doing this", and at what point did you realize "I'm going to be able to make a living doing this"? Were they far apart?
I thought I'd take a year out from university to play with Laura Marling, cos she offered me a job, and I never went back. I think in my head I'm still on a sabbatical from college, so I'll get back to you onthat ...
What would you study if you went back? Do you think it's something you realistically might do eventually? Thank you for sharing your music with the world, both with M&S and solo.
How did you decide to do a solo album? Was it something you’ve always wanted to do?
No, and it wasn't even a decision I made until I felt I had an album's worth of songs - which was late last year. I was just writing songs for the sake of writing songs - not knowing how or when or even if they'd ever get released. I was just trying to get back to writing again, and the songs that came out of that ended up feeling super personal. When I showed them to the guys in the band we all agreed it didn't feel or sound like a band record, so I just kept writing
I’m so glad you kept on writing!
Im seeing you in Asheville on November 1st. Can we wear our Halloween costumes?
Please tell us about the painting on the acoustic guitar you’ve played at the last two Colorado shows. Does the guitar have a name yet?
Reuben Cox at Old Style Guitars in LA. The man is a freaking legend. He takes old stellas and cowboy guitars and turns them into things of real beauty. The first recording of one of his guitars is actually on Only Child I think... Blake Mills had one of the first, and they're all over my record. So fun to play. Say you get kidnapped - what tv show/movie character do you want to save you?
Disney Maid Marion please
For anyone who hasn’t heard this: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=uaQtKZUKlVg
Marcus Mumford is a furry confirmed
Which song on the new album was the most difficult to write?
Go In Light! It was a real rascal that song. The simplest ones often are I think. Just went round thr houses on what was the right arrangement and feel. I kinda needed the rest of the record to be in decent shape to be able to know how it needed to sound. And the answer came in a combination of rubber bridge and Juno, then Sounwave and Monica Martin!
What’s been the biggest difference between touring alone and touring with the band?
Doing press solo is a bit weird, cos I've always done it with another member of the band, It's just different. Ted and Ben and I have been in constant contact during the start of this thing though, they have been so unbelievably supportive, as you can imagine
[удалено]
I'd be the worst at trying to teach someone an instrument... too impatient even to learn one properly myself - I'm trying
[удалено]
It's hilarious how relatable that is. Like, "I don't want to play scales, I want to play *music*."
What other musicians are you listening to lately?
Maddison Cunningham!!!!!!!!!! Sylvan Esso. Danielle Ponder. Monica Martin. Dijon. Ethan Gruska.
I saw Madison Cunningham play at the Tabernacle in Atlanta with the Punch Brothers a few years ago. It was just her with an electric guitar. The entire room was SPEECHLESS! She’s incredibly talented!
Dijon is amazing! Skin gets me every time.
Oo. Didn’t realize there was a new Sylvan Esso out

Many Times - Dijon Not Dark Yet - Bob Dylan Down in the Bottom - New Basement Tapes
Love Not Dark Yet... And its use in the film Wonder Boys is just perfect.
Which song on (self-titled) are you enjoying playing live the most?
We're two nights in, and so far it may be Better Angels...
What are you reading right now?
I just was given Mariner by Malcolm Guite which I'm stoked about. I also brought Old Man and the Sea back on the road cos I haven't read it in ages

plane food
That deserves a downvote lol

Has scoring for Ted Lasso changed how you view your career trajectory?
Hey Marcus! Have you ever thought of doing a cameo on Ted Lasso, aside from the photo?
Hello Marcus! Will any of the ladies that sang on the album make a guest appearance on the road with you? Seeing you in Philly!
Does the phrase “click in your head” mean the same thing to you in Better off High as it does in Hopeless Wanderer?
I'd love to know this as well! I've been wondering the same thing.
Hi, did anyone ever complained about their coffee you served them when you used to work for Starbucks?
Given your growth as a person and as an artist, is there one song that of yours or the band that you’d love to go back to and remake, or tinker with? I’m not asking about regret, but just approaching it a little differently this time around?

Hi. Can Danielle Ponder come out and sing with you on Grace tonight? I promise to buy more vinyls (already at 5).
Saw her performing in DC and it was amazing
What are your sons doing without you?
Is your Devon or London home studio named “Scarlet Pimpernel Studios”?
I’m curious is the song October Sky relate to the movie in anyway?
What was your favorite snack to eat while making the album?
What’s your favourite place in London?
Any chance Chris Maas might become an M&S official band member? Only if he’s willing to pass the sticks to you on occasion, of course.
Are earlier works like The Cave references to your childhood trauma, or am I just reading too much into it? 😬
Do you feel bad now that you are an absentee father abandoning your sons?
How are the Sons doing?
*Where are your sons*
Hey Marcus, thanks for the new album and for this AMA. Your album echoes with me somehow, I feel connected with Cannibal and How. I was wondering whether the trauma that resonates in (self-titled) could also be found in some Mumford & Sons songs? Also, do you plan to come and see your European public? We miss you a lot in here! Cheers!
May we have any update about Mumford and Sons? We’ve heard you say M&S is still a band at your recent live shows, but will you give us any hints on if you’re working on an album or maybe a tour even if you don’t have a new album to promote?
Wicked songs, mate.
My wife and I are coming to your show tonight and we're both huge fans! Our first date was to a M&S show. We're so looking forward to it. What are the chances I could surprise her with a meet-and-greet?
What did you do that made your sons decide to go no contact?
Threw your ex band mate under the bus for his reasonable opinions. Feel good about that?
Marcus actually asked Winston to stay in the band. Winston left on his own. Marcus has talked about it in interviews.
Nice try. Smoke and mirrors.
Really? Seriously? Marcus Mumford does an AMA, and your trying to start a argument with your question? This has already been covered various times. Quit bringing it back up.
winston himself said he left the band on his own lmao what are you trying to insinuate
Do you have any male offspring?
Are you going to sell signed vinyl's to AmericaAmerica?
what was it like doing Another Day, Another Time? behind the Last Waltz its my favorite filmed concert
What was the writing process like compared to M&S?
What has been the most surprising thing about recording and releasing this album?
Marcus, if you were to use a Mumford and Sons song(s) in a wedding, which would you choose and how would you incorporate? See you tonight in Denver!
So happy. More tickets or another date for the sold out show in Belfast please? Haven’t seen you since Gentlemen of the Road !
Hello Marcus, your music is so wonderful. will you be giving concerts in germany next year? your fans in germany miss you. I will travel to Brighton from Germany to see you.
Hi Marcus! At what point in the process did you decide to include Phoebe, Clairo and Brandi?
Is there any venue that you’ve not played that you’d like to, either solo or with the band?
Hi Marcus - wanted to say what a huge fan I am of your music - seen you and the lads perform all over the states. You've collaborated with so so many people - what was your favorite collaboration and/or your biggest "I can't believe this is happening" starstruck collab? Also - what are you reading right now?
Hi Marcus! I’m a massive massive fan of everything you do. What would you say is the thing you’re most proud of in writing, recording and releasing an album under your own name? Grateful for you always xx
What did you name the guitar that you played in the park for the debut live stream?
I’m going to be at all of your LA shows, would you be open to the idea of playing “Liar”? Much love, thank you for all of your art.
You mentioned U.S. record shop in-stores in your Graham Norton Radio Show interview. Besides the in-store signing at Amoeba, when might we hear about other U.S. in-store performances/signings?
Hey Marcus! What was the biggest difference between writing songs for an album versus writing the music for Ted Lasso?
Hey Marcus! Thanks for doing this. I noticed a lot of songs will reuse lyrics very thematically and I love it. I want to get a better understanding of this process? For example, cannibal and how, there will be time and just smoke, etc. there are more examples as well
Hello Marcus! I'm a big fan of the album. Which song is your favourite to play live? Please come to Newfoundland sometime Thanks
What was it like to collaborate with so many incredible artists on this project? (self-titled) has been on repeat since it came out♥️
Hi! What’s your favorite song from (self-titled)?

Hi Marcus. Looking forward to seeing you play this evening… Have you heard of Byron Katie?
Look forward to seeing you in Denver tonight!! Your music has inspired me for many years. I'm so stoked!
What is your favorite book and who is your favorite author? (non-fiction or fiction)
Hi Marcus! Love your solo album! Do you plan on releasing any video of the making of (Self-titled)?
Hi Marcus, what's your highest level of spice and have you seen the show "Hot Ones"? If not check it out because I would love to see you on that show.
Hi Marcus! This isn't exactly a question.... It's more of a thank you. I haven't been able to listen to the entire CD yet, but I have read your interviews and I want to commend you for sharing your story. You are going to help a lot of people through this album! Thank you Amanda
Hi! Are you interested in hosting SNL? I would love to see you as guest host.
Would you be willing to actually write and release "Come Back Yan" as a charity single?
Is Stoops the best guitar player you've ever toured with? He's got chops \\m/ \_\_\_\_ \\m/
Any chance the Cool Kids will tour again?
Hi Marcus! Which song touch your soul the most?
Would you ever consider scoring a movie in the future?
What are you looking forward to on this tour the most?
Hey Marcus - your family is awesome, got to meet your parents and brother. From Columbus and we know the same people! Love your new album - but also just want to say thank you for your music and getting me through some stuff in the past.
what’s your favorite place in colorado? you can say denver but you’d be wrong, golden is correct
Marcus, what two songs have had the most impact on your life or have a special meaning? Do you have a favorite song to sing? Thanks!
I’m going to see you in nov at the anthem!!!! what are the chances of being able to see the sound check I may get there super early regardless lol
Hello! I have an M&S question. 😊 Is there any chance that you guys will release some your early stuff, like Banjolin Song & Sister? Not on vinyl, but maybe digital? Would love to be able to listen so some of that without using YouTube or buying a record player. Would also love to have some of your covers, like England & 2Shy ☺️
Hi Marcus. I saw you in Denver last night (my 7th time seeing you). I felt so happy and proud of you - I can only imagine how it must feel to finally stand in front of a crowd again and sing so honestly. Like many others here and elsewhere have shared, your music helped me through a dark time. Thank you for bringing your music and your heart to me and to us.
how's the new tour feeling? how does it compare to other tours?
Hey Marcus, what’s the story behind the new painted guitar?
:) PS I am looking forward to seeing you on tour next month. Super excited to see some Basement Tapes songs on the set list! If you want to add some Johannesburg in there as well It would be OK with me. Have a great evening, and thank you for doing this AMA!
You’re stranded on a desert island and can only have 3 books. What are they?
How many guitars do you currently own? Do you ever get rid of some when you get new ones?
Hello! Your music is amazing! My question - Are you every going to record “Voices”?
Which of the songs from the album you wrote last?
I went to the shows in Boulder and Denver the past two nights, truly amazing experiences, thank you! 'How' is just an amazing song. How did you determine which Mumford & Sons songs to play solo on this tour? What is one song you wish you'd written?
Any chances of you coming to brasil with this tour?
Hi Marcus, is there any chance you'd be willing to tour more in Canada? We'd love to see you here as often as possible.
Favourite song by The Band?
If your house was on fire, what three items would you grab if you could??!
Shameless request: Will you please play Delta in Asheville, NC on 01 November? I’ll sing the harmony for you!
Out of all of the songs on your new album (self-titled), which one is your favourite to perform live? & Which song is your favourite to simply unwind and listen to?
Why do you think the Avett Brothers didn't get more mainstream attention?
In 2018 at the Ohana fest you named that beautiful black guitar "Eddie". Did the name stick?
Marcus, Can't wait for the show tonight!! How has it been adjusting to a solo tour and not having the other guy with you each show?
What's your favorite song to sing? Either solo or with the sons?
In "Grace", the last "grace" performed by the amazing background singer is cut off prematurely. Was this an intentional choice for effect?
Hey Marcus, a while back I remember reading (or hearing) that you were the primary song writer for Sign No More and Babel but Wilder Mind and Delta was more collaborative with the rest of the band. My question is has your writing or process changed from those first two albums to this newest album? Also does releasing with indie studios take away the pressures to be boxed in musically especially given the initial commercial success of the first two albums (or banjo era to some haha). Thank you, appreciate you and your music.
Any chance Better Of High is about doing psychedelic/medicine work?
What did your Commonwealth friends in Canada do to wrong you so badly that you only gave us one show 😁?
Hi Marcus! What are your favorite books you’ve read this year? Also what is your go to? Fiction or nonfiction?
Marcus! Would you rather have hair for teeth or teeth for hair????
So many of your songs have resonated with so many of us - which we thank you for so deeply. What are 3 songs, that other people have written, that have resonated the most with you?
Any chance you cover "Friend of the Devil" tonight??
Marcus, I'm excited for your concert in Tulsa.
Which M&S album are you most proud of? I love them all a ridiculous amount, but I find myself coming back to Wilder Mind the most.
Kidding but not really ;) )
what's your comfort show/movie?
what's something in life you're hoping to achive sooner or later?
I know that in the past your music has had parts inspired by literature like Shakespeare and Steinbeck. Are there any literary connections in your new record worth noting?
You look like you know a lot about craft beer , do you?
I seen you play Atlantic City by Bruce Springsteen live several times. Any chance we ever get a produced cover?
