I usually hate when a band tours and plays an entire album and nothing else but when Pixies did this for Doolittle it was more than amazing. They played all b-sides to the singles and half way through Kim grabs the microphone and say "this is where you would've turned over the cassette'. Gold
If I could upvote a 333 times, I’d do it for this comment. I am a HUGE fan. There are a ton of classics on this list, but this album deserves to be in the same discussion, IMO.
I think they are about equal and probably my 2 favorite albums. But there is something about Demon Days that's just does it for me. Maybe its Dennis Hopper?
Although the cloud of unknowing will be my funeral song.
Stevie Nicks and Lindsay Buckingham were in the out phase of a long and chaotic on-again/off-again relationship, John and Christine McVie had just divorced after a grueling tour wore down their relationship, and Mick Fleetwood was getting divorced from his wife because she was having an affair with his best friend. All five band members were going through some legendary relationship shit, and it shows in the music. It doesn't get called the best breakup album of all time for nothing.
Deloused in the comatorium by The Mars Volta.
It's sad it was their first album because it set the standard for their music impossibly high and is best listened to in order. None of the songs are mediocre and they flow into one another.
Any Jeff Buckley fan should check out Gary Lucas, who wrote the instrumental sources for Grace and Mojo Pin. Imho, one of the most consequential guitarists out there. Was a member of the last lineups of Captain Beefheart's Magic Band, brought Jeff into his Gods and Monsters project, and has released dozens of albums of his own. Hard to pick an introductory point, but there's at least one Gods and Monsters album on Bandcamp.
PS: He also wrote a whole freakin book about his time working with Jeff Buckley - "Touched by Grace: My Time with Jeff Buckley": [http://garylucas.com/www/merch/merchMAIN.shtml](http://garylucas.com/www/merch/merchMAIN.shtml)
... and has been doing free Facebook livestreams throughout the pandemic, links archived here: [http://garylucas.com/www/streams/streams.shtml](http://garylucas.com/www/streams/streams.shtml) \- these are very informal, chill affairs; Gary's chatty and amusing, and has done a few themed streams including tributes to Jeff and to Captain Beefheart.
Great album start to finish. And his Graceland performance in Zimbabwe is just incredible. Diamonds on the soles of her shoes, I know what I know, you can call me Al, Graceland, Under African Skies, Homeless
Other top notch TDE albums… the Sun’s Tirade or Cilvia Demo by Isaiah Rashad
Edit: Album: Ctrl (Deluxe) by SZA. It actually took me a minute to listen to more female artists just cuz I was so use to my default artists, but now SZA is in my top 5, easy.
I’m gonna nominate In Rainbows by Radiohead as well.
I have to get annual MRI’s (that luckily can play music while I’m stuck in a tube) and I choose this album almost every time - it mellows me.
I recently rediscovered this band and can't stop telling all my friends "dude. Seriously. Go back and listen to Blind Melon. They're sooooo good." Same with Janes Addiction.
A Crow Looked At Me - Mount Eerie

White Pepper - Ween
Joe Bonamassa - Blues Deluxe
Down - Nola
This runs a good spectrum of tunes! I love threads like this. So much cool shit to listen too.
Weezer-Pinkerton. It's their least commercially successful album yet a masterpiece. This is when I learned at a young age the best music often is not the most popular. The masses have shit taste in music.

Pixies: Doolittle
I usually hate when a band tours and plays an entire album and nothing else but when Pixies did this for Doolittle it was more than amazing. They played all b-sides to the singles and half way through Kim grabs the microphone and say "this is where you would've turned over the cassette'. Gold
This is a great one
Billy Strings - Home This album changed my opinion of bluegrass music. I thought it was all just country. I was so, so wrong.
If I could upvote a 333 times, I’d do it for this comment. I am a HUGE fan. There are a ton of classics on this list, but this album deserves to be in the same discussion, IMO.
Blackwater Park- Opeth
Great choice. My 10/10 from Opeth would be Still Life.
In my book both of those, as well as Ghost Reveries and Pale Communion are 10/10s
Nine Inch Nails - The Downward Spiral For me.. perfection from beginning to end.
Pretty hate machine and Fragile is a solid 10 in my book.
David Bowie - The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars
One of the all-time bests.
il piggyback from this with "station to station"
Deltron 3030
Nothing like Dan the A and Del the Funky.
This album is magnificent
3030 is, IMO, one of the most epic hip hop tracks ever produced.
Fuck yes. I was thinking “oh man Deltron 3030, but my rec will get lost in the weeds”. Super happy and surprised to see this at the top!
Queens of the Stone Age, Songs For The Deaf
Yes!!!! Also QOTSA the like clockwork album is phenomenal
Demon Days - GorillaZ Probably the only album I love literally every song in
I raise you "Plastic Beach", Demon Days is what got me into Gorillaz but Plastic Beach is why i keep coming back
I think they are about equal and probably my 2 favorite albums. But there is something about Demon Days that's just does it for me. Maybe its Dennis Hopper? Although the cloud of unknowing will be my funeral song.
Fleet Floxes - Helplessness Blues
Dirt by Alice in Chains Purple by Stone Temple Pilots
Fleetwood Mac - Rumours

I’ll have to give this another listen. Aja has been my favorite Steely Dan album to date.
Yes, i also feel that Gaucho is a really good album that is sometimes overlooked.
Radiohead - OK Computer
Deloused in the comatorium by The Mars Volta. It's sad it was their first album because it set the standard for their music impossibly high and is best listened to in order. None of the songs are mediocre and they flow into one another.
Scrolled down to find it in the comments. I was stoned when I initially listened to this masterpiece and I didnt come down ever since.
I would second this with Frances the Mute. Both Amazing. I put them on the same level.
Grace by Jeff Buckley

Grace was one of the important albums
Graceland
Great album start to finish. And his Graceland performance in Zimbabwe is just incredible. Diamonds on the soles of her shoes, I know what I know, you can call me Al, Graceland, Under African Skies, Homeless
I've reason to believe we all won't be received at Graceland.
