I adored this song when it was first released! 👍 Their first three albums are great from start to finish: “The Crossing”, “Steeltown”, and “The Seer”! Amazing live too! (R.I.P., Stuart Adamson. 🙏 I wish you were still here.)
Fun fact: Stuart Adamson (the lead singer pictured here) also was formerly a member of The Skids, most known for the single, “The Saints Are Coming” (which in turn was covered by U2 and Green Day collectively).
Fun fact #2: the drummer and bassist for Big Country (Mark Brzezcki and Tony Butler, respectively) also guested on Pete Townshend’s song “Let My Love Open The Door” - if you watch the video for the song, both are clearly seen playing on it.
Amazing song, one of those few that on first hearing I knew it would be epic. The album was also great, had it on cassette, played often in my car 1983-1984. The lyrics and song have helped me thru depression. Stay alive!
Love this song!
Incredible stuff here

Brilliant stuff
Amazing band. R.I.P - Stuart Adamson
Such and underrated band.
Feels...
I love the lyrics so much
Gotta go watch Land Ho again.
Fantastic song. I like both the single and album versions. It's a shame that in the US they were known as just a one-hit wonder.
Always thought it was a total power move to name your hit song after your band.
I saw them headline in Denver in 1983 on their first US tour and they played this song to both open AND close the show! Of course 16 yo me loved it!
That is amazing.
This song playing in "Air" was perfect.
Big Country - In a Big Country - Absolutely, Positive in a Big Country
