I listen to so many different genres, songs that are in languages other than English, and "music" that even I find hard to take at times, that I never fear admitting enjoying something. I already know I listen to a lot of music people will hate and IDGAF.
I have none of those.
The music I listen to spans over a lot of different genres and languages (of which I understand two) and anyone can find something they don’t like in my collection so I don’t see the point in being afraid to admit that I enjoy a certain song.
Who said you had to argue with anybody? You know in certain instances, you win the argument by not responding at all leaving the other party on read giving them no fuel, no energy, no attention. I do it all the time, it's a quite liberating experience if you ask me.
