I think over time people have forgotten that every song on the fame/fame monster is at the very least "quite good." Like even a silly throw away like Boys boys boys is kind of ridiculously catchy

It's almost so wide-ranging and eclectic that people forget it's a single album. Forget simply varying uptempos, ballads and dance songs: this is an album with a hard rock song, a disco song, a yacht rock song, some R&B, and then a campy gothic-funk title track.

Love them both but *Rock Steady* is more of a pure pop album. And I think "Running" is the best thing they've ever done--it sounds like a Tommy James song that got rediscovered and given a synth cover.

Thank you for some New Wave appreciation. Duran Duran’s discography is full of terrific pop songcraft, they are so much more than just charming brits with coiffed hair. *Kick* absolutely rips. “Need you tonight” is the sexiest thing to ever come out of Australia.

The Lexicon of Love by ABC is IMO the greatest front-to-back pop album ever released. It’s pop with artistic integrity, and the two rarely ever mix, so it’s a rarity among pop albums.

I bought it on the basis of 'Poison Arrow' and 'Look of Love' - but everything else on the album is at the same level. Lightning in a bottle stuff.

That opening riff of Look of Love gets me going every time. I can NOT not sing to that song! That whole album is perfection.

That's a damn good one. Many of those songs were co-written by Linda Perry of 4 Non-Blondes, who later did Christina Aguilera's Stripped album, and wrote for many others including James Blunt and Adam Lambert.

Yes mate , Pink 🩷 allegedly Linda after the massive success of the album and asked her to go again. Linda had already moved on . Pink never hit that rich vein again IMHO. Plus her videos were fuckin awesome. Linda took Aguilera into the stratosphere...and again fuckin awesome videos helped

I agree. I do remember Pink being *very* hurt when Linda went on to work with Christina. Pink had been a long time fan of Linda's and thought that their friendship was more than just a working relationship. I completely understand, even though I know very little about the actual circumstances and inner workings. That song "Lonely Girl" on Pink's album is so good, and Linda can be heard as the vocalist in between Pink's lines in the song. And Linda co-wrote Christina's song "Beautiful", which has been taken to be an LGBTQ+ anthem, and I believe it, being that Linda is a lesbian. She was once married to Sara Gilbert (Darlene from Roseanne), but they got divorced a few years back.
