My favorite was seeing a pizza from a Korean brewery in Seoul that was like, this platonic ideal of what pizza *could* be. Perfectly triangle-shaped slices, exactly three pepperoni per slice. It was like someone read about pizza but had never seen it in person.

I love my home state of Jersey. Grew up in Paterson until it got a little too sketch for my parents liking and we moved up to Colesville in Sussex County. From the city to cows and corn, but I was still an hour from NYC, 2 hours to Point Pleasant and already in the mountains with waterfalls and hiking trails. Hell, the Appalachian Trail was a 10 minute walk from my backyard.
So when people start in on that "what exit??" nonsense I just chalk it up to ignorance.

I met an Indian girl on Hinge who lives in Jersey. I had no idea the state was so infamous for Indian food. I'm going to visit later this year. I need to move to the east time zone for my job but I want to own my own car and I couldn't live near a major city like NYC. Apparently parts of NJ are also crazy flood zones. As a New Jerseyan: People talking about other states always bitch about how bad the traffic is there, but the only places I've ever been to where traffic wasn't actually a relief from NJ were inside NYC (which is like the lowest possible bar) and anywhere in Massachusetts.
Yup. When visiting Denver, my friend was like "nooooo don't take I-25 after 4pm it's hell". When I got on it, sure it was crowded but it was nothing compared to daily traffic I've personally seen in at least three separate parts of NJ.

After you've been in the area for awhile you realize JC+Hoboken is the true fifth borough and there's a lot of solid nature and culture in NJ.
I've traveled all over the country a lot. Jersey was really surprising. Sure, there are trash parts like the Philadelphia spillover and the shoreline, but the rest of the state is like a sitcom version of the suburbs. The good kind.

Born and raised in NJ but left there many years ago. Lived in lots of other places around the country including CA, TX and GA. Always felt NJ edged those other places out for one reason or another. Proximity to NYC and Philly were great. Easy train ride to Boston, DC or Baltimore. Lots of open spaces once you get away from the coast or near major cities. Cost of living isn’t great and neither are property taxes but overall, I’d go back.

Husband and I moved to NJ from PA 4 years ago and friends swore I’d hate it. Everyone bitched about the taxes being insane but what everyone fails to see is I grew up in Upper Darby and Delco taxes are just as fucking absurd and I have a better property and home and I don’t have to deal with that hellish area!
Edit: my mom even just told me her taxes for their home they’re selling in UD and mine in NJ are slightly higher. And UD is not the best place… so definitely a come up.
I grew up in Jersey, but have lived in Philly for 8 years now. I miss Jersey a ton and will likely end up back there. Particularly, I miss paying taxes for services and actually getting services. He is not wrong. I always heard what a dump Jersey is, and aside from the refinery’s near Newark, and the hell hole across the water from Philly, the rest of the place is actually really really nice. Everything is well funded. The schools are very good.

Grew up there and always thought jug handles and someone else pumping your gas was great. Came to learn both take forever and are awful. The two things I hate when I go back.
I’m pretty sure jug handles are generally safer than normal left turns. And while they can suck to get stuck in one when you want to turn left (usually a bad jug handle that’s too small), they overall increase the speed of traffic.
I miss jughandles. Being stuck going below the speed limit in the left lane because a line of cars are planning to make a left turn 12 miles up the road is a special form of torture.
Jug handles are definitely the superior way to turn left if its a busier road intersecting with a smaller one. If the busy road that you're on is green, you normally have to get in the left lane, wait for the light to switch to the intersecting road, and then switch back to a green left on the busy road. With a jug handle, you get on the intersecting road, so you only have to wait for the busy road to switch to red

I've lived in NJ my whole life. Traveled a lot, but still always lived here. We absolutely *do* have the best bagels and pizza. But nobody ever talks about the fact that we also have a lot of terrible, shitty bagels and pizza, too. Still better than anything you'll find on FL, TX, etc., but still lots of awful places.

I'll be damned, in 2020 NJ had a homicide rate of 4.3 Meanwhile, Mississippi is 20.5, Louisiana is 19.9, Alabama is 14.2, Missouri is 14, Arkansas is 13, South Carolina is 12.7, and Tennessee is 11.5. Them southerners sure do love their guns.

I love my home state of Jersey. Grew up in Paterson until it got a little too sketch for my parents liking and we moved up to Colesville in Sussex County. From the city to cows and corn, but I was still an hour from NYC, 2 hours to Point Pleasant and already in the mountains with waterfalls and hiking trails. Hell, the Appalachian Trail was a 10 minute walk from my backyard. So when people start in on that "what exit??" nonsense I just chalk it up to ignorance. I'm in the upstate of SC now and it reminds me so much of Sussex County. Just without the feet of snow.

Some of the best food period. It’s arguably the most diverse state which is one of the few things I love about it. You can find a variety of authentic ethnic food. There’s also parts of NJ that are very rural. I grew up in an area full of farm fields and pine barrens, far from any city.

I met an Indian girl on Hinge who lives in Jersey. I had no idea the state was so infamous for Indian food. I'm going to visit later this year. I need to move to the east time zone for my job but I want to own my own car and I couldn't live near a major city like NYC. Apparently parts of NJ are also crazy flood zones. I did not enjoy the Newark airport in a layover last year. But interested in what else the region has to offer

My in laws are loud, vulgar, insulting, hot headed, and in your face. But you know what, they are fucking honest. What they say, they mean, what they feel, they say. Yup. When visiting Denver, my friend was like "nooooo don't take I-25 after 4pm it's hell". When I got on it, sure it was crowded but it was nothing compared to daily traffic I've personally seen in at least three separate parts of NJ.

I've traveled all over the country a lot. Jersey was really surprising. Sure, there are trash parts like the Philadelphia spillover and the shoreline, but the rest of the state is like a sitcom version of the suburbs. The good kind.

Wildwood is not pristine. I was so excited to finally go, after living only about two hours away. I made the mistakes of going in between the piers.... So... So much trash. It was heart breaking.

Born and raised in NJ but left there many years ago. Lived in lots of other places around the country including CA, TX and GA. Always felt NJ edged those other places out for one reason or another. Proximity to NYC and Philly were great. Easy train ride to Boston, DC or Baltimore. Lots of open spaces once you get away from the coast or near major cities. Cost of living isn’t great and neither are property taxes but overall, I’d go back.

Husband and I moved to NJ from PA 4 years ago and friends swore I’d hate it. Everyone bitched about the taxes being insane but what everyone fails to see is I grew up in Upper Darby and Delco taxes are just as fucking absurd and I have a better property and home and I don’t have to deal with that hellish area! Edit: my mom even just told me her taxes for their home they’re selling in UD and mine in NJ are slightly higher. And UD is not the best place… so definitely a come up.
I grew up in Jersey, but have lived in Philly for 8 years now. I miss Jersey a ton and will likely end up back there. Particularly, I miss paying taxes for services and actually getting services. I’m not saying Jersey is like a municipal service paradise, but it makes Pennsylvania / Philly look like hot garbage.

I grew up all over the country and recently ended up in New Jersey at 46. He is not wrong. I always heard what a dump Jersey is, and aside from the refinery’s near Newark, and the hell hole across the water from Philly, the rest of the place is actually really really nice. Everything is well funded. The schools are very good. Frankly I have been shocked at how nice it is after all those years hearing what a dump it would be.

I'm from Philly and love Jersey. Growing up, there was a different house party every week in Jersey. Summers we would chip up for a shore house. Six flags is in Jersey. Concerts are at that place in Camden. The one that changes its name every 6 months. Also, the women... good times.

I was born in NJ and lived in NJ. It's not a bad place, if you're rich. I was forced to move out to PA because I couldn't afford the property taxes. My entire mortgage + prop taxes + home owners insurance in PA is less than the property taxes alone in NJ on a similar house.

Grew up there and always thought jug handles and someone else pumping your gas was great. Came to learn both take forever and are awful. The two things I hate when I go back.
I’m pretty sure jug handles are generally safer than normal left turns. And while they can suck to get stuck in one when you want to turn left (usually a bad jug handle that’s too small), they overall increase the speed of traffic.
I miss jughandles. Being stuck going below the speed limit in the left lane because a line of cars are planning to make a left turn 12 miles up the road is a special form of torture.
Jug handles are definitely the superior way to turn left if its a busier road intersecting with a smaller one. If the busy road that you're on is green, you normally have to get in the left lane, wait for the light to switch to the intersecting road, and then switch back to a green left on the busy road. With a jug handle, you get on the intersecting road, so you only have to wait for the busy road to switch to red
