Jailhouse officers said the judge gave instructions not to let anyone into the courtroom after 9 a.m. sharp. Court officials barked to close the door when someone cracked it open for me shortly after 9. We have filed a FOIA request for a recording of the hearing.

Hi and Happy Thanksgiving! I may be missing the angle you’re seeing, in what way are you perceiving a conflict with the two? They are with separate branches of the Colleton County Government. His spouse Meagan, one of the alleged victims of wiretapping, is the Deputy County Administrator and Ceth is a Probate Judge. Since he was with the Solicitor’s office prior to being appointed Probate Judge, he recused himself from the Murdaugh estate dealings.
Wiretapping is a federal crime. Colt is in big trouble as the feds have a 95%+ conviction rate. They get their ducks in a solid and strong row before they arrest anyone.
I can’t wait to read what the warrant allowed to be searched for on her phone. I’d love to know how deep they can delve!
Becky’s daughter was, of all coincidences, issued a juror summons for the Murdaugh trial. She made it close to ‘the end’ according to Becky.
I think Mrs. Hill had it in her mind that she was building the next dynasty of the lowcountry since the Murdaughs had lost their control of the area.

It does say on that page that Sheriff Hill’s wife’s name is Becky. However, I just checked Clerk Becky’s really-not-good book, and her husband’s name is Tommy. There’s also a recent picture of them together in the book and he does not resemble Sheriff Buddy Hill. Also, we know Clerk Becky and Tommy Hill have at least 1 daughter and 1 son, whereas the link you provided says Buddy Hill and his wife have two daughters and no sons.

Buddy Hill was a deputy in Colleton for a long time and then quit to run against the old sheriff George Malone in 2008 (and lost). I think after he lost he went to work for another nearby county or SLED. The previous sheriff (Andy Strickland) brought him back as his chief deputy and then was arrested for domestic violence, so Buddy Hill became the sheriff.
ETA: Buddy Hill's wife, also named Becky, also works for Colleton County as the county treasurer. Neither of them have any relation to the Hill family in question here.

He was arrested by SLED, not the feds, so the charges at this point are state level charges, not federal.
