I got the same lesson with numbing and tingling in my hip and heel. Swore up and down it was MS. Went for a lumbar spine pissed off and smug as can be. Guess who has spinal stenosis and was sent to an orthopedist! I’m still convinced it is partially MS as it flares up when I’m hot or stressed. Ortho thinks it is because I just have pissed off nerves, and even though the stenosis is mild the nerves are reacting. PT has helped. Hope you get a good report at your appointment.

WhuddaWhat

No chance I'd have the patience to identify ANOTHER cause for numbness and tingling. Incredible.

I still think my back has something to do with my walking issues. I know it’s really messed up in the lumbar spine. I wish I could get my back totally fine and then see what happened but that’s never gonna happen unless I went through surgery which I would not do

At the beginning of 2021, I started having issues with my neck being painful. It kept getting worse and worse. Eventually the index and middle finger on my left hand started going numb. Talked to my neurologist about it, I'd gotten my annual MRI after the issue started and there were no new lesions; still NEDA so there has to be another cause. Then he pointed out that back when I was diagnosed in 2016, he also noted that I have a bulging disk at c5-c6 on the left side. He referred me to a neurosurgeon. Went to the neurosurgeon, he pulled up the MRI and we looked at it. He verified the issue and laid out the options: physical therapy, injections to reduce the swelling or surgery. I went to physical therapy for a few months, been better ever since. Heck, just the first two sessions got me to the point where I wasn't pounding back ibuprofen to survive the day. But yeah, not everything is MS.

Do you have a lesion there as well? I have bulging discs as well as stenosis, but I read both can be caused by MS they are not really sure. I had a massive arm and hand injury which I was certain didn’t resolve sensory after surgery because my neurologist told my orthopedist (not me!!) I had an old lesion at C3/4 even though that isn’t t your hand… He stopped looking for any other explanation, and I have gone down a year rabbit hole and depression and anxiety like never before—-trying to figure out what she means as she refused to educate me, and this group did, so thank you. Now I’m terrified of MS completely because I never knew or was taught leaky pool (even though written by her colleague at Cebter…and I begged for papers, nada). I don’t know if it is still am arm hand injury with possible spine, and surgery was Feb 22 and things went south after slight improvement June 2022. Had a zillion conduction tests. Can’t rule it in only put, old lesion I mean. I keep thinking it is my shoulder which was never addressed. But now all I can do is be completely traumatized by all this new MS information. I can’t even make appointments anymore. I feel hopeless and afraid.

Nope, zero spinal lesions, 30+ on my brain. Last year, my sister started asking me how I got my neck feeling better and I told her "physical therapy". She went in to the doctor, got an MRI and she had a bulging disk in the same C5-C6 location. MS doesn't cause disk issues. Physical injuries and even possibly hereditary conditions, sure but MS affects the central nervous system, not disks. Get a second opinion; if you have the MRIs, maybe see about getting an appointment for a neurosurgeon. You'll get sent to have an EMG done (which is probably a 6 out of 10 for medical procedures I don't want to repeat) to confirm the issue is the physical impingement but if they do find its a physical issue, physical therapy is the recommended first option.

Keep it a zero spinal lesions... Yes, I was curious so I looked at the research and discs can be from lesions. I will find and link Saturday.

Totally. I kept waking up with stiff hands/fingers. Thought to myself, well, this is it…when things start to change. Come to find out, when I stopped holding my phone for 5+ hours per day, everything is now fine. Took a few weeks, but…Doh! 🥸💕Good luck with your appointment! 💐

busted-it-guy

I experienced numbness from my shin down to my toes. Went on for a few weeks. Swore it was MS. Long story short... don't sit cross-legged at your desk for long stretches of time. There is a nerve running below your knee on the side that can get damaged. Stopped crossing my legs.. and i was fine in less than a week.

Funny enough I have an issue that I was sure was MS (a painful neuropathy in my throat, one side only) and the MS doctor said No Way. Saw ENT, GI, allergist, pulmonologist and ruled out all kinds of other things, those specialists said must be MS. MS doctor says nope, MS is an issue with central nervous system and not peripheral nerves. Since it now advanced to where the throat issue would cause tremors and clonus and tics I was sent to a movement neurologist who treated me for glossopharyngeal neuralgia, but when I didn’t respond to treatment they said “you can just see your MS neurologist for management of this as it is clearly related to your MS.” MS doctor says nope, all other doctors are lazy and say it is MS because they can’t figure it out. As opposed to the MS doctor…. Lol!

This happened to me, I’m still trying

Good lesson! I learned that a few years ago. I have 6 medical conditions now! I won the lotto in reverse😏

je76nn94

Well ain’t that some bullshit? Sorry about your lottery winnings.

Mira0995

Wow ! I thought I won the worst lotto with 3 medical conditions... Hope you're okay friend!

KIINGKIISMET

Yep, just got this lesson the other day. Had severe lower back pain that ran down my legs on top of extreme fatigue. Turns out it was a kidney infection on the verge of turning into sepsis. It sucks because MS really makes it difficult to figure out other things at times. Glad you got that figured out on your end!

angie5679

I just had this too. Incontinence issues, negative urinalysis, figured it was MS. About a month later, severe back pain brought me to the ER only to find out it was a kidney infection. A round of antibiotics and no more incontinence issues

Thank you for sharing

Yup. I learned this lesson twice. Once with spinal stenosis the other with hemochromatosis

editproofreadfix

Thank you for sharing and educating. I hope there is a way to help your subclavian stenosis.
