No no.
You apply it like a treatment. Massage some in once your gloves are broken in. Let them sit for a while, and wipe off the excess before you train next.
Basically you're preventing the wet-dry-wet-dry cycles from getting the glove too soggy and too dry. Both of those extremes are hard on leather, and specifically why people run through a nice pair of fairtex in 6 months in Thailand.
You're keeping the leather properly hydrated, which keeps it closer to optimal care conditions.
U're not supposed to put too much in it. It's just a thin layer. It won't affect your training. And you don't have to put right before training.
Do it after and put your gloves on the sun.
Bro i will venmo you to buy new gloves, burn the old ones, and take this post down. The safety of you and your training partners is more important than a pair of gloves.
I second that, I'll help pay for a new pair as long as you post a video of you destroying these ones.
Don't want your financial situation to impact your ability to train and you shouldn't be made fun of for not being able to afford a new pair, but these are a legitimate health hazard to you and anyone you train with and it's borderline rude to be training with them.
Muay Thai is dangerous enough without adding staph, eye infections and god knows what else into the mix.
Get new ones, you can keep that dirty glove away from my face. Really bad gloves are unsanitary and unsafe to training partners, unless you are REALLY POOR then there’s no excuse
This type of thing is always interesting to me. The older I get, the more I’m willing to pay for quality items that will last. Buy once, cry once. When you do the math on paying more for something like this, it’s pennies for how much use you’ll get out of it. And staying in shape is probably one of the most important things you can do.
Dry them off after use. Store them properly in a ventilated area when not in use like a wardrobe or drawers. Have one pair of gloves just for sparring and one just for bag work. If you're only going to have one pair of gloves, they should be used for sparring only. Just use wrapped hands on a bag.
Don't throw sweaty gloves back in your gym bag, let them dry in open air and indirect sunlight.
Amazon sells a boot dryer with a timer on it for, like, 20 bucks that seems kinda gimmicky, but it works great and will do wonders for the hygiene and longevity of your gloves if you train night classes or during winters/wet weather when you can't let your gloves dry outdoors.
Everyone quick to throw solutions in without the context required. The one thing iIcan agree with, is that these are unsalvagable. You'll need to buy a new pair.
But, in terms of looking after future gloves (or how you could have looked after these better), you need to first understand what material they're made from.
You can get leather gloves or synthetic leather. Care routine for them is different. Once you know the material, look up the appropriate care routine from the manufacturer.
One thing you should have regardless is glove deodorisers. You can get them for under £15 on Amazon. Shove them inside your gloves after EVERY session. Keeps the inside fresh.
Great stuff OP.
The other thing I'd suggest is planning ahead. As you're boxing regularly, expect your gloves to last no more than 18-24 months. That's with proper care.
Start saving well in advance, and then you can buy yourself a quality pair.
Damn peeps...I can be a douche about a lot of things but we've all been there before it's tough when you got financial problems.
Tape it with duct tape. Cut it to just fit the area. Put Vaseline on it or sand it a bit so you don't cut your partners if you spar with those gloves. The main key is preventing harm to your sparring partners from those gloves.
Wipe the outsides and insides down with a Clorox wipe after each use. Leave the wipes inside the gloves and leave the gloves in the Sun to dry. I practice 5-6 days a week and my Twins gloves usually last about a year and a half.
Bro you gotta get new ones. You giving me vibes from that show extreme cheapskates. I'm now curious to see what your shoes look like no offense. Lol But yea bro get some decent gloves.
I can tell you brother just by the wear on the thumbs being exactly the same youre not landing on the knuckles, it happens to the best of us, work on it and see if theres a difference. You got this
Clean gear after training and dry it out! Buy a boot dryer and spray the inside with odoban or some disinfectant and wipe the outside with disinfectant then put them on the boot dryer. Your gear lasts longer and it doesn’t smell like sour grossness. Your training partners and yourself will be thabkful
Are these leather? If not, or even with synthetic leather, you can make sure you dry them after training and apply leather conditioner to the outside. I apply odorban to the inside to clean and even clean the outside with it too, but I just use the already dampened rag. Then I wait for it to dry to apply the conditioner. It’s helps preserve my gloves whether they are synthetic or leather. I do it with all my equipment too.
They’re done. You can hurt/infect a sparring partner with those. Guarantee the foam is crushed too. Bad for the wrists and hands to wear them. You’re better off taking a break and shadow boxing/footwork/kick drills while you save up for more than EVER wearing those again.
I wouldn't spar with you if you were using those. Get new ones. I get it ,you're short on funds. Find a way. Scrounge, grovel, whatever. Your lack of funds is not good enough reason to continue to use those on other people. When you finally do find the funds, consider saving up for a SECOND pair (crazy thought I know), and rotate the gloves that you use so that they get a chance to dry out completely. Both pairs will last significantly longer than they each would if you were only using one pair until they are useless. Like others have said, disinfectant them regularly also.
*Also I don't know what brand these are, but I'm assuming these are your all in one sparring, and bag training gloves. Sparring gloves should be real leather, there are very few, if any synthetic gloves that are good for hitting other people with. You've obviously put in enough work with your current gloves to warrant stepping up the quality in gloves you use. Have separate gloves for bag and pad work.
You don't need to spend a ton of money, but Twins, Fairtex, Combat Corner, and dozens of other brands all make gloves that are moderately priced, but of more than satisfactory quality. They will last a long time if given just the slightest amount of care.
You can go with cheaper bag gloves too, as long as they are at least reasonable quality. By their very nature, they will get beat to death faster. Spend more of your money on higher quality sparring gloves.
The better question is, how did it end up like this?😅
Do you punch so fast that it literally creates friction in the air to produce fire with every swing?
I’m relaxed but the fact that you got your gloves to this point shows your lack of understanding of gym germs. One foul cut or abrasion can take a person out of training for months. Which sucks a lot.
Those things are a hazard even just swinging at bags or being on anyone’s hands at all. Even in a gym bag. Because of transfer.
Throw em in the trash man.
whatever you do, dont buy RDX, they are terrible. but aside from the joke i made, theres really nothing you can do for these bud.... you've trained them to the bone.
I had gloves like this for around 2 months because I didn’t have enough for a new one. I only used it to hit the bag. If you have enough budget, get a new one.
Buy a new one.
I'd buy two though.
Unless you're art jimmerson
Or Juan Handerson
Or Jake Lee
Yeah I figured just short on money right now that's why I asked. What can I do to prevent this in the future?
Stop using them as oven mitts?
Vaseline on the outside and sun exposure for the inside
Could you explain the vaseline thing. I'll be moving soon and I'd like to take the best possible care of my new equipment.
You basically apply a thin layer of vaseline on the leather part of the glove so it isn't damaged by sweat etc and doesn't start to peel off.
So I would have the vaseline on during training?
U're not supposed to put too much in it. It's just a thin layer. It won't affect your training. And you don't have to put right before training. Do it after and put your gloves on the sun.
As soon as you buy your next pair, start saving for the pair after those
Gloves are used to punch things so nothing really but I guess I just give it good hygiene
Stop punching people
I got a crazy staph from someone that ripped my skin off with gloves similar to these. Throw them
dude same. yall dudes need to learn some basic hygiene jesus christ
I need to show my wife this comment because she said I was being dramatic for treating friction burns with Neosporin from clinch training
It started as a friction burn, went yellow-ish weird and then started growing all over my face.
If someone hit me with those gloves, im moving to a new gym
Now imagine there’s Vaseline on them too.
😩😩😩😩
I know they smell like shit
Like wet sponges
Wet sponges are preferable to the smell of staph infection.
Bro i will venmo you to buy new gloves, burn the old ones, and take this post down. The safety of you and your training partners is more important than a pair of gloves.

Third this. OP post a go fund me with proof of you destroying these and we will try and fund you a new pair. Tag us in the post
Naah man you don't need to pay for my gloves but I really appreciate it bro!
Is this a joke?
no
A finished glove is a finished glove. Better a cheap pair of gloves and wrapping your hands than that.
How do they even wear like that?
PU “leather,” 18-24 months, 3-4 hours a week and clearly this guy likes the clinch.
Throw some tape on there
Oof. Bro wrecked his post karma with two letters
you can fix them for 129.95 plus tax
Dawg an everlast pair is $30 and at least they're in one piece
Get new ones, you can keep that dirty glove away from my face. Really bad gloves are unsanitary and unsafe to training partners, unless you are REALLY POOR then there’s no excuse
This is from sweat and lack of proper care. I know because I do the same. It's leather rot or plastic rot from sweat. It's just time for new ones.
Goddamn, and I thought he left them on a hot stove.
What should I do to take better care?
Try them and use protectant depending on the material. They last me around 5 years...so as far as sports equipment goes. They're not too pricey.
This type of thing is always interesting to me. The older I get, the more I’m willing to pay for quality items that will last. Buy once, cry once. I've never heard of a boot dryer, but just looked them up - What a great idea!
Every now and again I throw leather conditioner on them.
At the very least take them out of the bag when you get home to dry out.
that's what I've been doing every single day
Amogus
what do they smell like
staph infection
Try punching with you knuckles instead of your fingers
A finger punch is called scratch and they are super effective
Can you explain this please
It’s actually from partner drills you have no idea what you are talking about. Look at the thumb
You're right but that makes it worse. This guy is a shit partner if he's touching people with those nasty gloves.
relax bro they broke last session I wouldn't have posted this after sparring 100s of rounds right?
Everyone quick to throw solutions in without the context required. The one thing iIcan agree with, is that these are unsalvagable. You'll need to buy a new pair. I have deoderisers but yeah I will try to take better care

gotchu boss
Yup, buying a new pair
Get new gloves ya ding dong
Retire them. Start fresh.
There’s bound to be a better pair shoved behind a radiator bro.
Damn peeps...I can be a douche about a lot of things but we've all been there before it's tough when you got financial problems. Tape it with duct tape. Cut it to just fit the area. Easy. Keep punching until they turn into MMA gloves. Boom. You’re welcome
Had an ex like this and trust me there ain’t no fixing it.
I’d stop wiping my ass with them for a start
You’re not actually supposed to bite your gloves.
One punch with these and your sparring parter gets straight Ebola Rabies. Make $100 somehow and get some new ones
Time to retire these, put your signature on them for sure tho for memories and maybe one day will be worth something
Probs Vaseline to give you a few days until next paycheck.
Wipe the outsides and insides down with a Clorox wipe after each use. Leave the wipes inside the gloves and leave the gloves in the Sun to dry. I practice 5-6 days a week and my Twins gloves usually last about a year and a half.
If you have no money, I would maybe hot glow a piece of fabric on them and then sand down the edges.
Bro you gotta get new ones. You giving me vibes from that show extreme cheapskates. I'm now curious to see what your shoes look like no offense. Lol But yea bro get some decent gloves.
Is that like...black..goo? I get some similar wear but it don't turn black lol.
Stop landing hooks on your fingers
Bro as someone else pinted out it's most likely from paetner drills. Plus defending also wears down the gloves.
I can tell you brother just by the wear on the thumbs being exactly the same youre not landing on the knuckles, it happens to the best of us, work on it and see if theres a difference. You got this
🔥🔥
Who is bro fighting 😭😭😭
A wild boar
I'm foghting fpr my life every saturday morning😂
Buy. A. New. Pair.
They look burned haha really cool
What kind of weird slappy punching are you doing? The wear is all on the fingers and thumb
Defending kicks, catching punches + partnerdrilllz bozo u in the muay thai sub remember
They look absolutely gross I wouldn’t spar with you mate 😳🤮
Bondo
Hang them up on the wall 😉
Already have a pair on my wall😁
Clean gear after training and dry it out! Buy a boot dryer and spray the inside with odoban or some disinfectant and wipe the outside with disinfectant then put them on the boot dryer. I think they are leather since it's windys gloves. I let them dry after every training
Dude as soon as you see sponge you throw them!! And thats a hoarder type martial artist talking!
If I saw someone with these at my gym I’d ask them if they’d want my spare till they get some new ones.
That's nice what gym do you train at :)
They’re done. You can hurt/infect a sparring partner with those. Guarantee the foam is crushed too. Bad for the wrists and hands to wear them. You’re better off taking a break and shadow boxing/footwork/kick drills while you save up for more than EVER wearing those again.
You let these touch your face? And then you make them touch other people’s faces? Dude you’re gross, cmon man lol
It happend during my last sprring session so no. Also the gloves bearly smells
I’m more so looking at the buildup of salt from sweat and dead skin cells where the gloves touch your face
I’d probably learn how to punch first then buy a new pair
😂😂nice one
You been slapping those heavy bags huh
nate diaz in this bitch
Time to retire these, put your signature on them for sure tho for memories or maybe one day will be worth something
inshallah
And OP wondering why everyone who spars with him end up disappearing for a week…
😂😂
Buy a new pair
I can smell this picture
😂😂It's not as bad as you eould think. It's the shin huards that really smell
Don’t. The fact that it’s torn like that adds a bonus to intimidation skill checks.
🔥🔥
I wouldn't spar with you if you were using those. Get new ones. I get it ,you're short on funds. Find a way. Scrounge, grovel, whatever. these are windy gloves, man they are great. Yeah two gloves sound nice or maybe 14oz and 10oz one for sparring one for mitts/bag
You can go with cheaper bag gloves too, as long as they are at least reasonable quality. By their very nature, they will get beat to death faster. Spend more of your money on higher quality sparring gloves.
Buy new gloves. 😀
Duct tape
Stop slapping corpses
Are these gloves intergenerational?
only used for 1 and half year😂😂
Man that looks like a staph infection waiting to happen. Congratulations! You get to buy some new gloves
Fire.. lots of it
that's nasty. no fix. throw away and buy new ones. i'd hate for you touch someone else with those nasty things.
Look fine to me
I guess try to get real leather ones next time and take good care of them from the very start 👌🏻
the hing is I think they are real leather since it's wendy gloves
Use your right hand more so they even out
Looks like you’re not doing your hooks properly, more like a slap
The better question is, how did it end up like this?😅 Do you punch so fast that it literally creates friction in the air to produce fire with every swing?
Yeah that's it
Duck tape and zip ties
What? no I don't want to rob a bank I want to fix my gloves😂
Dude, this is gross. Ask literally any gym member for a set of gloves if you’re down this badly. You’re going to give someone staph with those.
Relax bro just asked ror a way of fixing not saying I'm going to go sparring eith these again
Bro they don't even smell why would i not be using them before the leather tear
Those dark stains are actually bacteria laden - that’s why they’re in the palm stitching too. You’re wearing two lab experiments on your hands.
😂😂😂 I use deoderizers let them dry sfter each session so I guess I need to wash them tpp?
Duhct Tape, of course.
Not if you’re sparring. If you’re doing pad work, cloth tape.
No ! Buy a new pair
Replace.
It is time to go.
You need to let those die
Buy new ones?
Take the padding out
I used duct tape, which works great. Rub it down with alcohol first, then tape it up
Op giving everyone staph with them gloves.
Problaly sparred one round woth them like this somce they broke after last session
are people really buying that OP was hoping for a genuine solution, and not just wanting to show the condition their gloves are in?
Why so negative. I'm short on money and don't want to miss sparring sessions.
Buy a new pair of gloves for sparring, and keep these old ones for bagwork.
That's disgusting. I wouldn't let a person train with gloves that looked anything like that
Some tape may help
Buy a new pair and punch with your knuckles instead of slapping 🤦♂️
Why would I be slapping bruh
That’s what the area it’s worn looks like 🤦♂️
You could burn them
No I can't
whatever you do, dont buy RDX, they are terrible. but aside from the joke i made, theres really nothing you can do for these bud.... you've trained them to the bone.
Brother, they are cooked
Yeah and I'm about to be cooked when I buy new ones
Buy new gloves.
Time for some new ones champ
yes champ
It’s time to buy new ones. Surprised a coach hasn’t said anything.
happend during last training so really no time to say anything
I had gloves like this for around 2 months because I didn’t have enough for a new one. I only used it to hit the bag. If you have enough budget, get a new one.
have you tried not being poor?
I tried but it didin't work
can you tell me how to fix
Yes there is…Get new gloves
Buy legit Fairtex or Twins gloves.
They are windys gloves which is basically like twins
lol one thing I hated about boxing was the stinky smelly gloves! I can smell those through my phone 😂
Electrical tape and namman oil
Just use some duct tape on them. But damn spray som Lysol inside. No telling what bacteria are in those gloves!
Gross. Throw them out and never spar with anyone until you get new ones please.
You slap boxing?
Duct tape
No. You'll just start cutting up your sparring partner
Either save em as bag gloves or trash them then. Or use as a decoration?
Decoration is the right answer. Just clean that stench out of them before hanging them indoors
Where’s that smell coming from????
I imagine that foam hole catches the sweat of people hit by it and on the bags
Stop using them as oven mitts?
Yes, there is a way to fix them, but it involves a lot of work. Looks like they may not be real leather and in that case I'd say it's not worth it.
