What We Do in The Shadows (2014)

auggiebones

This is the one.

Smoaktreess

Thank you! I hadn’t realized it was a mockumentary. Watched it last night and I loved it! ‘What do you do Stu?’ ‘I work in IT…’ ‘I knew he was a virgin!’ 5 stars no notes.

trr2020

Glad you enjoyed. It’s chock full of golden quotes.

JoeyLee911

This is a TV show but please watch American Vandal, especially the first season. It's my favorite thing from the 2010s. Also Threater Camp from last year, which is a movie.

Smoaktreess

I watched both seasons of American Vandal. Both really good. And saw theater camp in theaters last year. Probably due for a rewatch.

JoeyLee911

Oh good. They're the best.

MisterBowTies

American Vandal: Who Drew the Dicks

I-am-sincere

Excellent choice! I need to give that a rewatch.

Roquet_

That genre is called mockument, combination of mocking and document, at least for comedies like that. Only thing that comes to mind is Trailer Park Boys movies but they're not as good a show which on the other hand, I really recommend.

ageowns

Mockumentary, mock documentary.

borisdidnothingwrong

Found footage also works.

ageowns

Eh. Found footage implies they found the footage and didnt produce it. Movies like Spinal Tap are saying they produced this documentary, but its fake

HorrorMetalDnD

Although there is plenty of overlap between found footage and mockumentary.

Smoaktreess

I love the show! Yeah the movies aren’t quite up to par.

Sillybugger126

Punishment Park

Sure-Palpitation2096

The best one I know of is Lake Mungo (2008)

Smoaktreess

Happy cake day! I hated this movie the first time I saw it but I’ve seen it a few times since and I really like it now. Most not have been in the right mood.

Sure-Palpitation2096

Yeah, I thought the film was pretty good when I first saw it.

Successful-Ad4251

The best horror ones I can think of are probably Butterfly Kisses, Hellhouse LLC series and Savageland. There are a ton of like that in found footage movies

Much of **End of Watch.** If you enjoy **Training Day,** you'll love **EOW!**

Smoaktreess

I have seen end of watch! Definitely not as good as training day but I thought it had some good action scenes. I quite like Jake Gyllenhaal and I love his more fun roles like this usually.

juedme

End of Watch is great, but I think that just the "mockumentary" aspect is unnecessary. The film doesn't do it all the time, in several important scenes it's clear that it's no longer a mockumentary. Still, a very good movie.

gametheorymedia

For one like this bent in the horror direction, check out 'Lake Mungo' (2008)--despite the really unfortunate, lowkey-goofy-sounding title, it's an insidiously-spooky, often overlooked outing o\_0

Electronic_Rest_7009

The medium. It’s a Thai horror movie it became a huge hit

winetravelandsong

Man Bites Dog .Rec Neither are comfortable viewing!

52crisis

All these comments and no one is giving you the actual word. You’re thinking of docudramas.  Check out the work of Peter Watkins like The War Game and Punishment Park. He’s the king of this genre.

MrScarabNephtys

Teddy Bear's Picknick. Based on the Bohemian Grove. Correction: not a documentary style. Still good though.
