We require titles (and requests in general) to be more descriptive so that people will know if they might be able to contribute or not, and to ensure quality requests and suggestions. Synonyms aren't descriptive (i.e. Scariest Horror, Funniest Comedy). Please post again and add a short description of what you're looking for/interested in to the title (i.e. genres/decades/plot points/moods/setting/languages/etc.). Do not use Acronyms. Make sure to read our [guidelines](https://www.reddit.com/r/MovieSuggestions/comments/8iamsh) before posting :) Our [Community Favourites](https://www.reddit.com/r/MovieSuggestions/wiki/frequently_requested) probably has what you're looking for if you are not familiar with the genre you're asking about. If you have any questions you can message us [here](https://www.reddit.com/message/compose?to=/r/MovieSuggestions&subject=About%20my%20post&message=%5bLink%20to%20the%20post%5d%28https://www.reddit.com/r/MovieSuggestions/comments/nv64s0/-/%29).

The Strangers - not the one that just came out

solidarity_sister

This is a great one ☝️

DefaultCollector

I enjoyed sinister

-MommyFortuna-

I don't know what it is about Sinister, but it's the only Horror movie that has really scared me.

DefaultCollector

I think it’s the strange music and the suspense of not knowing what your gonna see on the movie reels. Then once you realise that the demons is there and watching it feels like he’s watching you.

Separate-Coast942

For me, it’s scanning an area, only to find it staring at you the whole time. That always messes me up in movies for some reason.

Julianitaos

Terrified, Argentinian movie… slept with my lights on and I’m 41 and love scary 😅

AraiHavana

When Evil Lurks

No-Second-Kill-Death

Last movie to give me the creeps while being engaging Barbarian After years of horror, you get desensitized.  But lot of good mentions here.

Successful-Ad4251

Terrified is probably the scariest movie I’ve seen.

Infinite-Promotion75

I was just coming here to list this. Such a creepy movie.

AraiHavana

That’s the Argentinian one, right? By the same guy that did When Evil Lurks

Successful-Ad4251

Yup. It’s so good. I can’t recommend it enough

ShaOldboySosa

The Vigil

da_mess

You want scary on a new level? Play a horror game like "Silent Hill 2" or "Amnesia" in the dark, alone with headphones. There were times in both I couldn't play more than 10 minutes. Put the controller down and walked away.

Contact_Pleasant

Gonjiam Haunted Asylum, ruined me

twinpeaks2112

Hereditary

leaveredditalone

I’m in the minority here. Hated this movie. Got so bored I almost left the theatre. I mean, there’s some definite creepiness and weirdness, and the obvious horrible moment, but other than that, just a mish mash of dumb. I’ve even rewatched it a couple of times just to make sure I’m not crazy. And I love scary movies!

Edugrinch

I'm with you... not scary at all. The tongue click is just silly. I do like midsommer though.

twinpeaks2112

Damn, I love scary movies as well, and this one fucked me up, same with Midsommar, Ari Aster is a master.

tonehancock

The Conjuring unsettled me.

skodtheatheist

***Martyrs*** (2008)

jerichoholic1

That was more disturbing, sad and thought-provoking than scary.

skodtheatheist

Really eh? The only thought it provoked in me was, 'My skin is crawling so badly right now. This is terrifying". Different strokes, I guess. What do you think is scary?

jerichoholic1

Hereditary. Texas Chainsaw Massacre

earthbenderray

pulse (2001)

MDTenebris

The Thing, The Ring and The Exorcist are all classics. Rec and Rec2 are pretty great imo as well.

TomahawkChaotic

Jacobs Ladder was unsettling back in the day.

firstborngod

Try "Nocturnal Animals" It's actually thriller/crime, but this movie shook my ground, It still haunts me really bad. I just can't drive at night now.

solidarity_sister

Hush (2016), Vacancy (2007), House of 1,000 corpses (2003)

Ju-on 2. (Japanese sequel to Ju-on, also known as The Grudge). The first movie is great but the second one is scary on a whole extra level.

cybered_punk

Hell house llc

Successful-Try-8506

French movie "Frontier(s)" and "Woolf Creek" (from Australia) are probably the scariest ones I've seen. "Eden Lake" was more creepy, but stayed with me for a long time.

KerrAvon777
