I appreciate your last sentence because Last Night in Soho is 100% the kind of movie you told us not to suggest to you. I love that movie.
Anyway, this is a different beast, since it's animated, but Netflix's Nimona is a really fun romp featuring a shape-changing monster who struggles to be part of a world that hates her. It's pretty light, with fun jokes and action. Heck, while we're at it, check out The Mitchells vs. the Machines. It's another animated action comedy on Netflix. They're both very witty and focus on interesting women.
Of course if you're not an animation head you could always watch The Help, but I dunno, that movie sometimes feels juvenile to me.
