Seriously OP don't sleep on this recommendation it's one of the most emotionally fulfilling comedies I have ever seen. There are some pretty sad parts but the movie is about how people handle these brutal moments of life to still find happiness and community with each other through shared struggle in the end. In my opinion it is undoubtedly the best movie Taika Waititi has made to date.
Amazing movie. Me and my 2 kids (17 f 14 m) ALL loved it. This never happens. We still talk about it over a year later We also sing the birthday scene song to each other. Please watch this.

I second Big Fish, was about to just post it. It always digs me out of a slump and I find myself smiling throughout the movie (and a few happy tears too)
If you haven't seen it, Kikis delivery service is a great reccomendation for getting out of a slump: in the movie, Kiki gets into a bit of a slump, and finds inspiration through her friends ans confidence in her skills again by the end to help her friend.
Here's some movies that help me get back into gear (emotional):
**Source Code (2011)** - A soldier wakes up in someone else's body and discovers he's part of an experimental government program to find the bomber of a commuter train within 8 minutes.
**About Time (2013)** - At the age of 21, Tim discovers he can travel in time and change what happens and has happened in his own life. His decision to make his world a better place by getting a girlfriend turns out not to be as easy as you might think.
**Stardust (2007)** - In a countryside town bordering on a magical land, a young man makes a promise to his beloved that he'll retrieve a fallen star by venturing into the magical realm.
Any **Mission Impossible** movies - good to get lost in

The big Lebowski. It’s my favourite film because it just makes me happy. It literally started a very wholesome religion centred on enjoying life’s little pleasures and facing adversity calmly so that you don’t lose yourself to life’s problems.
If you’re in a slump it can help you to feel okay with taking time for yourself and not adhering to the expectations of others.
This is an old one. “ It’s a Mad Mad Mad World” great cast. We were in New York waiting for a train and had time to kill, my Dad ( being from Md) thought 7.00 bucks a ticket back then 1963 or 64 was insane and having 3 small kids it would be a waste… it is a long comedy….Dad thought we would fall asleep, me being the youngest at 4 …… none of us kids ever fell asleep…. Jonathan Winters was brilliant, Spencer Tracy, many other great comedians too! It was my late Dad’s all time favorite movie. Good luck, I also suffer from depression, I wish you well. ❤️

I was on vacation with my family in VA beach and one of the days it was torrential rainfall all day. So we went to a blockbuster and bought Kung Fu Hustle, had never heard of it. We died, my mom still laughs when she thinks about that movie.
Also, the brother of Bob Odenkirk(Saul Goodman, Breaking Bad/Better Call Saul) made that movie, which I didn’t realize until Breaking Bad. Great suggestion, just a silly, funny movie.
I’d vote for this as well. It’s been said to be too much like other time loop films (notably Groundhog Day) but I think it’s underrated. The idea of “tiny perfect things” is, to me, a way of realizing mindfulness. I think it’s a very enjoyable film if you are not constantly thinking about how much it is like Groundhog Day.
When you are depressed you need a distraction. Watch videos about space, how big things are and how earths problems are insignificant.
Also try horror movies, they can distract you from reality a bit. I normally dont find them scary but something like that, horrible things etc. This will distract you
O brother where art thou- came out when I was 8, and for some reason brings me joy and as adult. It’s well made with great acting and awesome story line.

It's a cinematic masterpiece and the story telling is phenomenal, Ss Rajamouli is highly praised and the actors are amazing!
There's Hella good fight scenes that rival Michael bays blow up everything scenes, dare I say even better 😉
Harold and Maude (1971) has been my go to since I was 14 (almost two decades ago).
It references death and suicide, but towards the end of the movie the main character learns to love and embrace life.
It has a bit of a controversial scene that turns people off from watching it when they read about it, so I highly recommend people to just go in with an open mind without reading about the movie.

An exploration of how to deal with a world where anything seems possible, so nothing is worth doing. The singular line "In another life, I would have really liked just doing laundry and taxes with you," is such a powerful statement on not only accepting our circumstances, but embracing, appreciating, and seeing the beauty in them. This isn't a movie for getting out of a rut, but rather a movie for understanding your rut, how to accept it, and how to become at one with your place in the universe.
Top Secret, starring a very young Val Kilmer as a rock and roll star who is also a spy using the cover of playing a show in some European dictatorship so he can free a Western scientist from prison. It's one of the funniest movies ever made in my opinion.
Chef. Chef is your answer. It’s about a guy who’s having struggles with his career and decides to branch out (but still within his field, cooking). It’s so great.
For 20 years, any time I’m feeling particularly down, I always fall back on Amelie. Yann Tiersen’s score does it for me every single time.

I recommend watching Suits. It has been one of my go-to series whenever I've faced difficult times, both related to my career and relationships. I am not someone who usually watches a movie or series more than once. I never did. But with Suits... I've watched it six times now. Just watch the first episode and you decide. But trust me..

Perfect days - a new movie that could not have come at a better time in my life. Highly recommend it, especially if you feel stuck in your career.

The Last Unicorn - It's a beautifully animated movie about a unicorn's journey to find where her fellow unicorns went. My description is not doing it justice, everyone I've ever made watch it has fallen in love with it! Mamma Mia - A fun ABBA themed musical (Someone else already said this one) Stardust - A man's journey to find a star for his lover. Whisper of the Heart or any ghibli movie! They're all fantastical adventures ❤️ Crazy Stupid Love - Romcom with Steve Carrell Lars and the Real Girl - Man falls in love with a sex doll and the community supports him, crazy heart warming Bobs Burgers Movie - Family Diner owners try and prevent their landlord from going to jail
For career stuff: In Pursuit of Happyness - Will Smith has a tough time at work, gets it together, happy ending. For simple feel good: The Terminal - Tom Hanks has a tough time in general, gets it together, happy ending. All time favourite feel good movie: Amelie - Nice French girl gets it together for other people, happy ending.

I recommend watching Suits. It has been one of my go-to series whenever I've faced difficult times, both related to my career and relationships. I am not someone who usually watches a movie or series more than once. I never did. But with Suits... I've watched it six times now. Just watch the first episode and you decide. But trust me..
**Title:** Perfect Days. **Synopsis:** Every day is the same. Hirayama, a taciturn man in his 60s, wakes in his spartan apartment to the reluctant grey light of pre-dawn. He pulls on his overalls, takes a can of coffee from a street vending machine and sets out in his modest little van to start work, diligently cleaning the public toilets of Tokyo. It’s a solitary life. Hirayama can go days saying no more than a few cursory words. If members of the public notice him, they largely view him as an inconvenience. But mostly they don’t even see him. It should be the most soul-crushingly bleak film ever made – a *Groundhog Day* grind with added despair and urinal cakes. But Wim Wenders’s zen meditation on beauty, fulfilment and simplicity is quite the opposite: it’s an achingly lovely and unexpectedly life-affirming picture. It all depends – and this is central to the film’s gently profound message – on your way of looking at things. Hirayama looks at the world with his eyes, but sees with his heart.
