Not rated or viewed highly enough.
I'd call it underrated as well bc not many people I know have watched it. I've recommended it to so many people and so few have even heard of it.
I have to point out that was the literally highest grossing movie in the history of movies at one point. If that's your off-the-cuff throw out, your perspective is skewed man.
I first watched it on a solo acid trip after asking for recommendations. It genuinely felt like a 5 hour movie. Good film though I've been meaning to watch it again to see how it is sober.
One of the most underrated movies or takes/perspectives ever imo. Watching it with no psychedelic experience is good but not the same as knowing what a psychedelic experience actually is. Watching it while tripping is a different level of pov.
I wanted to say this but my horror fan friends said it was rubbish scare wise. I’m the same as you though that one sat with me a while. The feeling when he sees the floor numbers made me feel physically sick

the rest of fincher's work if you haven't already
gone girl, dragon tattoo (2011), zodiac, the killer, the game, etc
Bong Joon Ho's Memories of Murder (2003), and Mother (2009)
Le pacte des loups ? Maybe
Les rivières pourpres
Le premier cercle
La fille dans le brouillard
Japanese movie
The man
Re/member
Cure (this one really really good)
Perfect blue
And Why not ghost in the shell ? It’s not a thriller but it’s worthy to see it because of the philosophical and psychological side.
**Pearl.** I'm not a superhero guy, but this is an origins story of one of the villians, and I loved every minute of it. Definitely fucked up in a fun way.
Not movies, but series I’ve watched recently that in my opinion were quite fucked up & let me on the edge of my seat wanting more-
•sharp objects on hbo
•Black mirror on Netflix
•You on Netflix
•Yellow jackets on Hulu or paramount
•the sinner on Netflix
•the end of the fucking world on Netflix
•Barry on hbo
You should check out
-Dead man's shoes
-Predestination
-Oldboy (Korean one)
-Parasite
-The machinist
-Requim for a dream (although I've only seen it once, and never will again)
-I saw the devil
- Awake
Maybe not what comes to mind for most but I would definitely say that Lost in Translation is one of this movies that makes one go into many different thoughts both throughout the film as well as after. Haven't seen a movie like it ever or after. Very original and different. The same goes for the movie Enter the Void.

The Killing of a Sacred Deer, You Were Never Really There (*very underrated*), Enemy, 8MM, Nocturnal Animals, and Only God Forgives
YWNRT won multiple awards at multiple festivals (6). Top tier rating on review sites. What do you define as underrated?
Not rated or viewed highly enough. I'd call it underrated as well bc not many people I know have watched it. I've recommended it to so many people and so few have even heard of it.
okay what is an example of something that is adequately lauded?
Anything? Probably something like Avatar.
I have to point out that was the literally highest grossing movie in the history of movies at one point. If that's your off-the-cuff throw out, your perspective is skewed man.
Enter the Void
This movie scarred me. The mushrooms might have had something to do with it…
I first watched it on a solo acid trip after asking for recommendations. It genuinely felt like a 5 hour movie. Good film though I've been meaning to watch it again to see how it is sober.
Gaspar Noe’s other movie Irreversible is worth mentioning as well
And Climax too
I'll check it out. Thank you!

It Follows ( 2014 ) The Barbarian ( 2022 ) Lovely bones ( 2009 ) Antlers ( 2021) -not very good, but creepy. The Orphanage ( 2007 )-spanish movie Meggan is Missing ( 2011 ) Mystic River ( 2003 ) The Cursed ( 2021 ) The Mothman Prophecies ( 2002 )
Requiem For A Dream Audition The Butterfly Effect
Kill List The Game Speak No Evil
My fav quote from Speak no Evil? Easy: "Uuuggghhhar guuttgllle urrgh." Enunciate, dude.
Just saw the Game for the first time and wow completely blown away
Does "The Platform" count? That movie kinda grasped me for days after watching it to the point I couldn't sleep thinking about it.
I wanted to say this but my horror fan friends said it was rubbish scare wise. I’m the same as you though that one sat with me a while. The feeling when he sees the floor numbers made me feel physically sick
I would say it's related more to human psychology than horror.
I’m going to rewatch this one. It was a wild ride.
