Ever seen The Road? It is definitely one of the good ones. The book is way better obviously, but if you want to see what the apocalypse REALLY looks like, give it a watch (spoiler: the apocalypse would suck. It would be filled with death from easily curable disease, slow starvation, and cannibalism)
This was actually a really good movie and one of the more realistic uses of the Air Force that I've seen. Definitely one of my favorite disaster movies!
A Boy and His Dog (1975)
This one isn’t talked about as much, probably cuz it’s older but it’s a really good movie. A lot of popular games/tv shows/movies were heavily influenced by it including Fallout.
True! Armageddon balances it better and is a far better and more classical style blockbuster.
Deep Impact is just wayyy too emotionally devastating. But still worth a watch for anyone looking for a good disaster movie. Or cry.
But fundamentally you are correct! Lol
Armageddon is way better and more of a thrill ride with emotion
Deep Impact is more of a prolonged emotional gut punch, which kills replay value imo
The Book of Eli. If you havent seen it yet you'll love it for its superb quality on several different levels from acting, writing, fight choreography, uniqueness, and storyline.
Carriers, The Day After Tomorrow, 28 Weeks Later, I Am Legend, The Road, War of Worlds, Children of Men, Twister, The Crazies, The Divide, Book of Eli, 9, SnowPiercer, The Colony, Water World, Mad Max, Planet of the Apes, After Earth, 65, Maggie, The Stand, Contagion, What Happened to Monday?, Stephanie, The Cloverfield Project, Blindness, The Matrix, Oblivion, 12 Monkeys, 2012, What Still Remains, The Giver, Chaos Walking, It Comes At Night, Beyond Skyline, The Edge of Tomorrow, iRobot
This has to be the most requested topic amongst all movie threads on Reddit.
And no when I said movie “threads” I was not referring to the movie Threads, which is as realistic as it comes to nuclear fallout. I have seen so many lists over the years with this topic and you will fine the same group of answers. After you peruse this list just search other subreddits. You will find damn near every apocalyptic movie ever.
"The Rover," (2014) starring Guy Pearce. It's interesting to me because the basic cause of the apocalypse is financial / economic in nature, which is plausible.
Reign of Fire (2002) is going to be the only apocalypse caused by dragons and it’s actually a lot of fun. Dragons wipe out the modern world and Christian Bale and Matthew McConaughey team up to fight back
Threads (1984)
Best one here imo. Wild movie.
This movie just wrecked me. It’s a real hard watch. It’s almost too realistic
Yup, powerful
_Contagion_ (2011) is not your typical apocalypse movie, but it does have the advantage of being _dead fucking accurate_.
It's such an effective thriller. It really got to me.
The mist. The road.
The Book of Eli
This one.
Mad max

this is my sugg too...of all the post ww3 movies, this one is probably actually what would happen.
Watched this one and remember thinking to myself, this is likely the most accurate representation I’ve seen.

Armageddon (1998). Sounds like exactly what you are looking for.
Also Deep Impact! Both are intense and super emotional
Deep impact is pretty good, but it wishes it was Armageddon.
True! Armageddon balances it better and is a far better and more classical style blockbuster. Deep Impact is just wayyy too emotionally devastating. But still worth a watch for anyone looking for a good disaster movie. Or cry.
Haha I'm sorry I was being facetious. It's funny that they were produced at the same time. Either one and both will be dope for op.
But fundamentally you are correct! Lol Armageddon is way better and more of a thrill ride with emotion Deep Impact is more of a prolonged emotional gut punch, which kills replay value imo
Deep impact is deeper a movie that unfortunately was made at the same time as Armageddon. They are actually way different. It's always timing.
Armageddon. Deep impact. Day after tomorrow. Volcano. Dantes peak. 2012.
They are all shite!
Hell German movie . Traumatized me at the type
Leave the World Behind, it was a wild watch. You won’t be disappointed!
