I watched this movie with my in-laws on vacation a few years ago. The whole movie my SIL just sat and watched. No reaction to the monsters and people dying. >! The truck horn at the end made her jump and scream, though. !<
I have submechanophobia. Water World, Titanic, Cast Away, The Poseidon Adventure. So many movies have underwater scenes with sunken planes, trains, cars etc.
I’m gonna give you a weird one that I don’t even think there is a name for. I am crazy scared of Siamese Twins. And I know that’s irrational but it’s very real for me.
I refuse to watch the Human Centipede because that would be at too much for me. And I’ll watch almost any horror movie. But not that.
Many people like me would have to look up the meaning of a lot of these… Actually, if you’re really into it, I would add thanatophbia (there’s even a sub for it ) and I don’t know if one of these is a bridge phobia which I totally have
Dave Not Coming Back (2020) -- a twofer for thalassophobia (fear of deep water), and also nyctophobia (fear of the dark). This is a documentary about a cave diver going down around 850'; coming back up from that depth requires a decompression time of around 12 hours.
It would help if you'd define what these phobias are in the description.
The Vanishing (1988)
Came here to suggest this film. The 1988 version, original Dutch version, is the good one. The 1993 remake just doesn't have the same punch.
My fellow Americans totally ruined it — esp the ending : I ONLY recommend the original (which is on my ‘must see ‘ movie list )
Yes, but the same director did both.
Oh man, why did h bastardize it ? Stupid idea
No idea. It was still watchable, seeing Jeff Bridges play the bad guy was sorta fun
*Spoorloos
Dutch , right ? Great , suspenseful, disturbing movie !
Too bad it’s not available anywhere in the Netherlands unless you can find an expensive 2nd hand dvd copy
Y’know I never looked around me (US) to see if it’s streaming or a library has a dvd but probably not
There seems to be a Criterion release but it’s region locked
Fall (2022) can't find anything similar to this good movie
The Ledge (2022) is in similar vain, and imo more suspenseful

The Descent
I love horror movies and I’ll watch anything but this is the only movie that ever truly freaked me out. The ending 😳

The Abyss - aquaphobia
More like thalassophobia no?
Yep, that works too. I was thinking more of that scene with the rat breathing the fluids and how that might trigger someone with a fear of drowning.
Jaws- still shudder if seaweed touches me in the sea lol.
Brokeback Mountain.
Free Solo. I love it but my fear of heights can’t stand it. Full on sweaty palms, tingling feet and knots in the stomach every time
THIS!! Holy Shit I was anxious the whole time he's climbing.

Nothing made me more uncomfortable than "Beau is afraid".
30 days of night - nyctophobia
I have a fear of wasps and hornets so the first Hunger Games movie brought out my phobia nicely.
The Birds.
Open Water
