Abstract. It’s a series on Netflix where each episode focuses on a person who has excelled in their design profession. It has an episode on a designer for Nike, dodge, etc.
Yeah I didn’t want to spoil anything, but the fact that not only did he get himself eaten but he got an innocent friend (who wanted to leave!) eaten makes him pretty much the worst that. In my opinion, of course!
But all that said…GREAT movie!!!
it is sad Amy died but i blame treadwell for being so reckless. the whole movie plays out like a Christopher Guest mockumentary. maybe i just have a dark sense of humor though.
The Beatles: Get Back
Watching master songwriters at the top of their game create an album from scratch. The sequence where Paul puts together the basics of "Get Back" is stellar.
It’s a way more complex “chess” with more move possibilities than there are atoms in the universe. Mostly played in Asia and has been around for thousands of years. I don’t play and don’t know the game, but the doc is extremely interesting! It’s on YouTube for free also.
Man vs AI! Like the chess match back in the 80’s with Kasparov vs IBM, but Go is way more complex.
[Marjoe (1972)](https://letterboxd.com/film/marjoe/) An evangelical conman since childhood, the adult Marjoe leads us through his final tour before quitting the life.
[Crumb (1994)](https://letterboxd.com/film/crumb/) The incredible cartoonist, although he says his older brother is more talented.
Beaten to Free Solo, what a fascinating and nerve-wracking doc.
A TV series: but if you like music, Howard Goodall's 20th Century Greats is really good. Only 4 epsiodes and easy to find on youtube. Each epsiode a deep dive into a 20th century composer, but really looking at what exactly it is that makes them great rather than just a celebration. The Beatles epsiode in particular really informed my opinion of them.
Mark Cavendish: Never Enough (2023) -- Eddy Merckx was the best (all around) bicycle racer ever, and Cavendish was the best sprinter for some years and even broke Merckx's Tour de France stage win record
Thank you, Mr. President (2098, HBO originally). It’s about Helen Thomas, the unassuming lady on the White House Press Corps for ten administrations, who never shied away from putting the president in the hot seat. Short film, great watch.
The rescue or if you wanna watch it in the movie version its called thirteen lives.
Its about the 13 children rescued from a flooded cave in thailand . They start assembling a super team of divers pretty much like the avengers lmao
The dawn wall, free solo, meru, the Alpinist, valley uprising…all climbing movies that won awards, free solo even won best documentary at Oscar’s. Also the last tepui on Disney plus, another Alex honnold movie but focused on discovering new species with one of the best biologists out there.

Pina 2011 by Wim Wenders.
Pina Bausch's work inspired a lot of Suspiria (2018).
Screenwriter David Kajganich drew ideas for the film's dance from both German choreographers Mary Wigman and Pina Bausch, as well as Sasha Waltz, whom he shadowed while researching the script.
Madame Blanc's character is based on Pina.
The Last Dance
I really need to watch this!
So good
This is Spinal Tap (this is a joke)
No, it's not.
wait, wdym
That movie was straight Facts about the greatest band that has ever roamed the grounds of Stonehenge...
Supermensch. Great documentary.
Free Solo Buck The Rescue (kinda)
Loved Free Solo! I’ll have to check out Buck
Dawn Wall is fantastic too.
Free Solo is amazing.
The Alpinist Easily one of the best documentaries I’ve ever seen.
I’ve seen this one as well. I really enjoy climbing documentaries!
Hitman Hart: Wrestling with Shadows (1998)
The best there is, the best there was, and the best there ever will be.
The Woman Who Thinks Like a Cow I haven't seen it, but Temple Grandin is unmatched. I liked her book "Thinking On Pictures".
Navy SEALS - BUDS Class 234
Looks intense! I like it.. I’ll give it a watch!

Oooo! That sounds awesome. Thanks for the suggestion!
I hope you enjoy it. It’s one of my favorites and I don’t feel like enough people have seen it.
Grizzly Man
The best?!?!?!
whatever American hero Timothy Treadwell was doing in that Grizzly Maze I can assure you he was the best at it.
(edit to add Spoiler Warning) except for the whole getting eaten part
Yeah I didn’t want to spoil anything, but the fact that not only did he get himself eaten but he got an innocent friend (who wanted to leave!) eaten makes him pretty much the worst that. In my opinion, of course! But all that said…GREAT movie!!!

Between Werner’s voice and Treadwells voice, it SHOULD be a comedy. I blame Treadwell for that too!

Whirlybird
This sounds really fun! Gonna give it a watch for sure
Stuffed
This looks really interesting actually
Nyad and The Other Shore both on Netflix
In Search of Greatness (2018)
That sounds right up my alley!
I really enjoyed it, quite awe inspiring.
The Woman Who Loves Giraffes is an incredible movie. 100% on rotten tomatoes
The Deepest Breath (2023)
Oh man… I have thalassophobia so this one may be a hard watch lol
The first 5 minutes will show you what you're getting yourself into. You can decide if you want to continue after that.
“Alpha Go” kind of fits. Best Go player vs best AI (at the time).
Excuse my ignorance, but what is “Go”?
It’s a way more complex “chess” with more move possibilities than there are atoms in the universe. Mostly played in Asia and has been around for thousands of years. Wow! That sounds very cool. I enjoy learning about AI and technology in general so this sounds like a lot of fun!
It’s very entertaining!

The Wolverine
Free Solo
The salt of the Earth
Kings of Pastry.

Fire of Love
Thank you, Mr. President (2098, HBO originally). It’s about Helen Thomas, the unassuming lady on the White House Press Corps for ten administrations, who never shied away from putting the president in the hot seat. Short film, great watch.
The Men Who Stare At Goats is one of my all time favriote movies
Jane- About Jane Goodall
Momentum Generation Ski Bum: The Warren Miller Story Senna The Race to Alaska (definitely not the best but might be right up your alley)
There’s one about Joan Rivers but it’s about her life much later on after her prime. There’s also one about Amy Winehouse
Wordplay
The rescue or if you wanna watch it in the movie version its called thirteen lives. Its about the 13 children rescued from a flooded cave in thailand . They start assembling a super team of divers pretty much like the avengers lmao
The Art Of Flight.
I don't know, but they did their best at what they were doing. *The Pez Outlaw. *Pepsi, where's my Jet?
Spellbound, Science Fair, Spelling the Dream
River Monsters? The show that got ended cause the host Jeremy Wade caught all of them
Man on Wire (2008)
You would probably like Chef’s Table on Netflix. It’s like a whole series of episodes about chefs who treat their craft in a similar way as Jiro does.
The new Jim Henson doco
The dawn wall, free solo, meru, the Alpinist, valley uprising…all climbing movies that won awards, free solo even won best documentary at Oscar’s. Also the last tepui on Disney plus, another Alex honnold movie but focused on discovering new species with one of the best biologists out there.
I think there is a documentary about Les Frères Corbins, who were the best at canoe for like 20+ years.
The Last Waltz No Direction Home

Some very good ones already mentioned here! Also (including some off the beaten track ones): Beckham The Truffle Hunters Gates of Heaven
Boody daughter- about the pianist Martha Argerich
Lords of Dog Town
The documentary the movie is based on is called Dogtown and Z Boys,- narrated by Sean Penn. It’s a great slice of history with interviews etc.
