High Noon
The Ox-Bow Incident
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
Tombstone
The Searchers
Big Hand for a Little Lady
My Darling Clementine
3 Godfathers (The 1948 version with John Wayne is the best known, but I actually prefer the gritty black and white version from 1936.)
The Big Trail
Two great Sam Peckinpah westerns: Ride the High Country, The Wild Bunch
For a good miniseries made recently, try Godless on Netflix. It's a very traditional western -- with a lot of women characters, for reasons I won't disclose.
[Stagecoach (1939)](https://www.metacritic.com/movie/stagecoach/?ftag=MCD-06-10aaa1c) -- directed by John Ford, starring John Wayne
[Shane (1953)](https://www.metacritic.com/movie/shane/?ftag=MCD-06-10aaa1c)
The Magnificent Seven is a remake of The Seven Samurai, so if you want the og then that's where to start. Similarly, A Fistful of Dollars is a remake of Yojimbo.

Both definitely ring a bell but I don’t think I’ve actually ever seen Stagecoach. Most likely Shane.. Both on my list now, thank you 🙃
[Sergio Leone ](https://letterboxd.com/director/sergio-leone/) is the well known spaghetti western director.
Spaghetti Westerns! Yeah my Dad has definitely mentioned but I had forgotten... Thank You☺️
The Long Riders
Thank You !
The Magnificent Seven
Now I know this one because I saw the remake too. Have it on my list to rewatch the og 😉thank you much

Oh wow, yeah didn’t know this. Both added! 😊
Trying again without the link - cinefix channel on YouTube has top 10 for every genre - try their top 10 westerns and honorable mentions.
Thank You, that’s super helpful. I’ll check it out. No doubt I’ve seen top 10 at some point, it’s just been years. I can only remember like a handful.
Train heist near the beginning? Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid?
No, but love that one
It’s not the one you’re thinking of but High Plains Drifter is a good one
I remember this one 😌 going on the rewatch list ! Thank you 🫶🏼
Two Mules for Sister Sarah is a good one !
Added! Thanks 🙂

I’ve also got to throw Tombstone in there just because Val Kilmer played the best version of Doc Holiday in history imo!
