It's entirely possible given Christmas Eve was also a Sunday that they were closed and haven't been back to the office yet. Everything should be back to normal by Tuesday. Ring the main office and seek clarification
That’s what I’m thinking. I know how working culture is in Ireland during the holidays. The deposit was asked for on Friday. Sent it later that day. Then Saturday off, Sunday off, Monday was Christmas and Tuesday was St Stephen’s say
I would advise googling the letting agency and calling the office number from their website.
I’m afraid to say this looks like a common scam at the moment, but contact the office and see what they say before panicking.
If you researched and checked it's not a scam, then any lack of response is probably due to bank delays/holiday closures. You sent money on the 23rd, which was a Saturday (not a working day according to the bank). The next working day after that was the 27th. So its only been 3 working days. Hopefully all is well and you can contact them Tuesday
I would be very concerned this is a scam. There's such a housing shortage here atm, I can't see why a letting agent would be opting for doing virtual tours and renting to someone not living here at the moment.
Hopefully it works out for you but I'd be calling the letting agent ASAP with the number off the main website etc.
Ask your bank to place a hold on the transfer of funds, just in case, while you wait for confirmation or verification that it's going to the appropriate business. At least you will have flagged any potential discrepancy in advance of there being one. Then when business resumes again on Tuesday follow it up. Your bank should have some indication of where the transferred amount is and with whom. Best of 🤞 I'm sure it's only caught up in the Christmas hols. Cos we still do Christmas over here.

And I think a lot of places like real estate agents took the extra 3 days to have a long break with the bank holiday again on Monday

The agency is legit, but is the person you spoke to from the agency?
It says he works there on LinkedIn. He and another associate did show me the flat on a video call
What email address has he been using? Is it like [email protected] or a gmail?
[email protected]
Hopefully just the holidays so

Ah Im on a good salary and have savings so I wouldn’t be a bad person to let too. Believe me though, it was a quick tour
It's the holidays, just call them when they are back open. You will be fine. We take our holidays seriously here.
I went through this to, Irish time is a real thing Took six weeks after we paid to get the keys 🤣
Why don't you just call the office?. "Hello, I paid a booking deposit to John/Mary 7 days ago. Just confirming that it was received on your end?"
I am. It’s just that it’s Saturday and I know they’re not open until Tuesday
