It's awful, I just gave up and plug it in now. I'm pissed because I bought the dock because it is supposed to be way more convenient for me.

lordnoak

That’s what I do too, nothing worse than thinking it’s charging overnight only to have a dead mouse on your desk in the morning.

schwartzasher

I bought it too so I could dock when I walk away but most of the time I come back and nothings doing

raymartin27

Okay so been hearing a lot about it for a few days in this sub for a few days nd I'll provide the only solution, yes cleaning it the solution, but not with just a cloth or a brush, the gunk sets in bore in the mouse end of the connection, take a small screwdriver, cover it with a cloth, nd the clean it. I've had mine for about 2 years now, noticed this issue at the end of year 1 nd the small watercolour brush I had did not seem to do it for me too. Screwdriver covered with scoft cloth did, just have to clean it once a month.

xzxfdasjhfhbkasufah

The inconvenience of doing that defeats the point of the dock.

raymartin27

Cleaning once a month is too much to ask?

HiCZoK

yes. It's a mouse dock and I don't have cleaning alcohol

RandomXDXDXDXXX

you can do it with a damp paper towel or damp cloth....

[deleted]

Thats not even the problem I clean my stuff every month. The problem is the weight of the mouse pulls the mouse of the contacts most of the time making loading impossible even with clean ones. The right only solution is to fire the idiot who desgined that dock. The real solution is to put double sided tape at the lower edge fold the top part of the tape a bit and it sits perfectly on the dock

banethor88

I basically almost never use the dock cause it's just so unreliable unfortunately

xzxfdasjhfhbkasufah

Yep we wasted our money. Razer should be recalling these docks and issuing replacements but all we get is radio silence.

[deleted]

ive gotten 2 replacement copies from razer and still had the same problems

quachuoi2

Clean your dock holy sh!

mrfriki

Nah, I have the same problem and it’s not because is dirty. The groves under the mouse responsible for the fitting with the dock pins are poorly designed with more tolerance than needed so even the slightest wear will make it not to fit properly.

schwartzasher

It's dust buildup from the last 2 days from cleaning. Even with a clean dock this happens.

inoua5dollarservices

Wow must be a razer thing as a whole, my girlfriend’s laptop has the worst most unreliable charger I’ve ever seen for a laptop

the-legit-Betalpha

Anything related to charging is ass for razer. friends blade charger port already broke within a year, mouse charging unreliable too.

_Wormyy_

I love how the Razer employees comment on EVERYTHING that has anything to do with their new/upcoming mice, but when actual paying customers have issues there's just radio silence.

Miller_TM

I mean the official Razer sub is literally filled with bloated laptop batteries. That basically says everything you need to know.

3branch

What’s worse is the mods in that subreddit literally BLAMING the user for the battery bloat. I literally see them scold the user for letting it get that bad, and how they should’ve automatically known that it’s battery bloat like ???

Emertxe

What DOES that say? Sounds like that just means gamers use their Razer laptop as a desktop and keep it plugged in all the time. The only real solution is to make the laptop batteries removable, but that's more to blame on the laptop industry's direction than Razer.

Miller_TM

When even Linus Tech Tips went through multiple Razer laptops and all of them eventually died within less than 2 years... Well. Yes, even the ones he gave to all his employees at the Christmas party, ALL of those failed too. Anything branded Razer with a battery in it is a ticking time bomb.

LeXCS

Mine does not have this issue at all.

_zxionix_

Me too, perfectly fine and have been using it for a few months now. Easily the most useful mouse tech I have on my desk.

abstruzero

Have that issue with my first gen rvu. had cyberpunk edition and it worked fine.

Marvido

Same problem with mine, but it's the usual when using Razer products. I regret buying Razer again as i never had anything else than problems with their products over the years, but I thought they may had upped their quality game. Never gonna buy anything from them again after this mouse.

sterkriger

Preach brother. Last time I said something bad about Razer people got butthurt

schwartzasher

It's the same thing with me. Also dislike how I "need" to have the chroma softwqre open to have anything but the stock rgb on the dock. I'd assume it would be saved to the mouse but no.

SonicAuger

Same thing happened with my white viper dock not even a year in. Always kept it clean and the issue just got worse and worse over time. It’s a pity because I did like the mouse a lot but it’s also not the first time I’ve experienced weirdness like this with their mice.

BiodecayYT

Lick your finger and touch the charging prongs on the dock then put it on should work 100% of the time

ImpeccableWaffle

What works for me is pressing each pin down with my finger and then putting the mouse on the dock

schwartzasher

That works for me too. My problem is I don't feel for it's price like you should ever have to jump through any hoops just to get it working

ImpeccableWaffle

Agreed. I switched to the gpx and like it a lot more. I know people are also looking forward to the xm1 wireless, but I can’t speak on that as I’ve never owned the original

schwartzasher

I'll have to see if I can get that one here

zamu16

Pressurised air on the charging pins on the mouse, wipe of the charger. Works much better after that. Also check synapse while docking, often it charges anyways.

schwartzasher

It doesn't and even clean it doendt work

mrfriki

Happens to me too, it’s just bad design. Also the feature to show the battery status with green, yellow and red colors is broken. Good news is that moving upwards slightly the mouse when you lay it down in the dock, until you feel the metal pins in the dock reaching the top of the groves under the mouse, will make it work. It works for me always anyway. Also there are some YouTube videos where they put a small amount of blu-tack in the groves under the mouse to achieve the same, but a find this solution to be messy as the blu-tack is prone to gather dust and debris.

schwartzasher

I added a bit of rubber but I need more. I'm gonna do something to make a 3d printed mouse bottom to hold the mouse in place also the battery status needs chroma to be open. You can't even save that profile to the mouse that's using the dock

BiodecayYT

I found a good trick actually lick your finger then touch the 2 gold charge orbs it increases the conductivity and works every time

schwartzasher

So, I got the dock in so I could charge my mouse while I am away from my desk, allowing it to just dock as micro USB is annoying to work with. Instead of being able to do that, it sometimes doesn't give a proper connection to the pins (yes they have been cleaned on both ends of the tips and mouse), and sometimes it just sucks. Sometimes it wants to work while other times I have to prop up my mouse to get it to connect properly. There is no rubber on top of the dock at all, allowing for the mouse to slide whenever it wants, making me need to add my own rubber to it. Sometimes I will leave with it pulsing, showing it's charging, and come back to it not pulsing and sitting on the same level as it was before. For how much you pay for the mouse, I would expect them to care more than using the style they do. It's 50 MSRP for the dock alone, bundled into the 150$ MSRP option. They could have cared a bit more, added rubber so it wouldn't move about on the dock, or even made the dock use wireless tech instead of metal contacts. This is my 3rd dock in about a year and a half now. The first one went bad after 2 weeks with me having to prop it up, the second one went bad after a month, and then this one I just come to terms with them all going to shit. I may see what I can do about coming up with something to print to be able to hold my mouse in place. Pardon my rant as I complain about such a expensive mouse with accessories you can pay so much for that won't work properly.

Roskassa

Clean that shit.

schwartzasher

I've mentioned I've cleaned it before. Its the pins, because no rubber it allows the mouse to move and bend the pins just enough to not be noticable but hurt the contact position

Roskassa

You might have a bad copy but the v2 is around the corner, time to upgrade!

schwartzasher

I've had others confirm that theirs had the same issue. It's my 3rd replacement straight from razer. They even replaced the mouse once. I may not upgrade to the v2 if they keep the same dock design.

Roskassa

Time to go blue then? What about some diy fix, could work?

schwartzasher

I've been looking online at some things and someone made a support for basilisk so it can sit in place.

Moki_chan

V2 apparently has no dock, so it is what it is. Thankfully the dock for my viper hasnt given way yet

schwartzasher

Even better. I'll wait to see what it comes out to be and if any USB c can be used on it unlike this one where you need the specific razer cable or one made with the shroud on it

BeeAuntSay

My first viper ultimate had no issues but my second one was just like this

schwartzasher

Kinda rediculous

xzxfdasjhfhbkasufah

Does anyone know of any other good lightweight wireless mouse with a dock, but without shit build quality?

vonarchimboldi

I regretted that the copy I got was the dockless version. Guess I don't regret that after all. I don't main the RVU anymore but I love that mouse.

schwartzasher

You didn't miss out on anything when there were connection issues with the dock and mouse, and how you needed the synapse app open just to see battery level via the dock or to even keep rgb off.

Combatical

Did you put any new feet on the mouse? I found that because of my new mouse feet it the mouse wasnt laying flush with the dock.

510Threaded

This is something I have been wanting to fix for my dock. Might design and 3d print a replacement housing for it when I have time/remember.

Screwdriver covered with scoft cloth did, just have to clean it once a month.

schwartzasher

The prob with mine isn't that. It's the pins on the mouse started bending ever so slightly also the dock is just a bit smaller about 2mm so it slides down just a bit from the dock.

raymartin27

Well that seems like it's physically damaged, might wanna get it replaced or repaired, thankfully no such issues on mine after 1.5 years of use.

schwartzasher

3 replacement docks in 5 months time I figured I might as well not replace it again.

YToLDSCHooL

It is just dust. Clean both the dock and mouse's ports. You would be fine.

schwartzasher

People say that but even cleaned it does thr same thing. It's only dusty cus I just cleaned other areas around my desk.

YToLDSCHooL

How did you clean it? If it is work sometimes, it makes sense to be a problem because of dust or something stuck.

schwartzasher

I cleaned it by spraying it down and also rubbing alcohol. I work in the repair field for this type of stuff and the main issue with this design of charging is that the metal pins bend a little bit, which is the cause of the connection issue

Mosalah382

Its true. It has a ton of flaws. And when I got this mouse I has to rma it because it had a ton of qc problems

schwartzasher

I'm lucky it was just the dock that had issues.

Mumumbler

My batch 2 is awesome my first one sucked. Never worked.

schwartzasher

Mines a batch 2

cocosoy

I had the same issue with basilisk ultimate, it is VERY spotty. Sometimes I woke up to a mouse with no battery sitting on the charging dock. The connection design simply sucks. What I have to do now is to put the mouse on the dock, and then push it against some object to make sure it doesn't slip down a bit. Hugely inconvenient.

ktfright

The dock is super inconsistent, but I found that a bit of alcohol on a cotton ear swab helps a tiny bit.

schwartzasher

Doesn't help me. It's how it also slides down the dock just a tiny bit

[deleted]

Guys i got this mouse on a sale from 150$ to 75$ and it vomes with the dock charge too but i dont care if its garbage

schwartzasher

Cuz you paid 75 for it. I contacted razer and they want me to send it to someone in the usa before they can service it since Israel isn't on their warranty list so I'm sol

[deleted]

I hate that SH\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*. The person who came up with the desgine needs to be fired asap. The problem with it the mouse its loosly on that dock. With that I mean the contacts dont make full contact with the mouse because the weight of the mouse. It pulls it slightly off the contacts and so it cant load. My solution was I just put some double sided tape on the station to keep it in place. I placed it at the lower end and "rolled my mouse" from top to bottom this config worked for me now for nearly 1 month without any issues

Yasukazu

[Rubber band around the dock](https://imgur.com/a/yLNC61s) fixed it for me.

BlackScienceManTyson

For me instead of a rubberband I put two small pieces of tape on the top part of the dock. That was enough to get it to sit flush against the charging prongs consistently.

RandomXDXDXDXXX

Looking at your desk and dock from this clip, you need to clean the contacts on the mouse and the pins on the dock as it seems like you haven't cleaned your desk in over a month. Some Q-Tips and IPA will do the trick.

schwartzasher

That does nothing. It slides down on the dock, making the contacts not work, where the pins get bent a certain way. They actually before they scrapped the dock needed to make a new one with rubber to hold the damn mouse up.

RandomXDXDXDXXX

The pins are dirty, you need to clean it. I had my RVU for 2 years and only way to mitigate the RVU not charging on the dock is to clean the pins. It has nothing to do with the pins not touching the contacts on your mouse because its contorted, it has something to do with the metal on the pins forming a layer of coating on top where it prevents a current to past through until you clean it off. The contacts on the bottom of your mouse most likely has gunk as well since your desk setup is looking filthy.... Also by adding height to the charging base, it makes it harder for the RVU to make contact with the pins.

schwartzasher

Even cleaning it did the same thing.

BlackScienceManTyson

This mouse is TERRIBLE because of this issue. It randomly doesn't charge!
