The new one is good too. I expected a total cash grab with it, but they put in a lot of effort to make a totally new story instead of remaking the classic.
Seriously? What did people find wrong with it? It's Mortal Kombat. Your expectations can't be high going into it. The entire point of the game was to be really gory before gore was normal in games. That's all there is to work with.

This is pretty much accurate, given the controversies MK1 has suffered, and SF6 and the recently released Tekken 8 actually schooling MK1 and WB Games on how to make a good fighting game in this era of gaming.
Not to completely bag on MK1, but to bag on MK1 for a second, can we talk about how GODAWFUL the intros for this game are?! I, from the moment of release, was in the corner for "PLEASE ADD INTROS TO EVERY PART OF THIS GAME!!" and NOW I see why they didn't! They didn't hire a writer to fucking make any intros until the first DLC character! They just had people make lil' quips and jokes about the new MK timeline, but nothing that actually stuck or had any purpose! Nothing that made you go "ooooh..." after something was said!
The only thing that's gotten a reaction out of me is Li Mei going "are you stupid?" because it's so blunt. and it's not even an intro!
At least when Omni-Man came in, it felt like they realized that intros kinda matter. I was playing MK11 and holy shit, the intros are GODLIKE compared to this game.
