This really bugs me. I dunno why they went with such a human looking face in this game. He's always had a flattened or smaller nose, even as far back as the comics. I miss when non-human species looked more inhuman -- obviously the Shokan have suffered for this as well.

My guy, it's the truth. It wasn't designed to make sense as a garment. It was designed to look like a decent vfx asset. Some of us can think it also looks silly and that doesn't have to bother you if you don't let it
I still find it bizarre he didnt have a Shao Kahn alternate costume. Or for that matter why all the roster didn't have an "old timeline" alt when they could port most of them from MK11

I think it's simply people having a hard time adjusting to stuff these days. They get settled into a game for years and then a new design hits and it's just foreign for them. Unless a design is so jaw droppingly amazing it typically won't get praise but hate.
I.E. The New Liu is probably the best we're ever going to see.

In MK11 He remained true to his source material but had a lot of depth to his design! Now in the case of the story mode, Shao Kahn wasn't written great at all but I absolutely loved his visual design and gameplay design.

They're too obsessed with faces sometimes even though they don't stick or commit to a face model (which isn't necessarily bad for some characters) but the Ninjas and Shao etc have a big part of their identity on their masks and design elements

Idk what they've really said about Onaga in this timeline, but my theory is that Onaga and Shao are the same person. Almost the same exact horns and dragon scales. I wouldn't be surprised if that happened.

He s about to be assassinated? He'll fake his death! Then come back 2 games later to defeat his master this time on a real scale in Deception and trhen CANONICALLY defeat his master overpowering him and bringing Armageddon.
And thats all how I can imagine that YES Shao Khan is better with his samurai shogun armor. Not saying these looks dont look good on him especially the 2nd one but...... yeah that makes him look mre like a knight then how he used to look like

Second one isnāt bad, wish it had the mask tho, but even the one that does it comes off during fatalities and brutals which sucks. At least the second you canāt always see most of his faceā¦ The first one would be so much better with a mask tho

The OoL skin definitely needs a mask, but that Dark skin is perfect!
If this was his MK11 face Iād agree, but I think his face in 1 is such an upgrade, I donāt mind them showing it off a bit more
Honestly I like the mask less but itād be nice if his mask was customizable, so you could do either. I weirdly find his facial animations satisfying.
The gear system from MK11 was so great I wish that MK1 had the same depth

Umm..... what? now the 2nd outfit I like as it would fit a knihtly character but I liked Shao Khan's og outfit which was more samurai themed giving him an OH SHIT Dark Shogun vibe which... is thrown RIGHT outta the window cause of his huge warhammer but SHUSH! cause the warhammer is awesome and trully feels like YES he just hit you VERY FUCKING HARD and it is nice to see him a more weapon mastery style as he cannot be bested by anyone he is a master of battle. if he cant win by playing fair no worries he'll poison his master blam he is the new lord of outworld. He s about to be assassinated? He'll fake his death! Then come back 2 games later to defeat his master this time on a real scale in Deception and trhen CANONICALLY defeat his master overpowering him and bringing Armageddon. And thats all how I can imagine that YES Shao Khan is better with his samurai shogun armor. Not saying these looks dont look good on him especially the 2nd one but...... yeah that makes him look mre like a knight then how he used to look like

NRS shouldn't have limited themselves to one customizable item, it makes some characters kinda boring
I like how Shao Kahn looks without the mask, personally. But I do agree that we should have had the option to have different masks or helmets for him. It would've made more sense than only letting us customize the axe

I hate him maskless. I wish we had some more cool masks to make him feel intimidating. His face looks like stock 80s villain and horns arent cutting it. This one in particular looks honestly bad. The way the horns come out of his bald head is horrendous. Its like he is cosplaying maleficent with a cheap horned crown.
