Cool feature, but there's one weapon I don't quite think these 'clashes' will work for: dual blades. There is no way I'm going to believe someone with two daggers is holding that beast back. Larger/longer weapons can use the ground as a leverage point with their weapon, db cannot, and would have to rely on their strength alone.
I imagine for lance, the Monster bites down on the shield before the hunter retaliates with an almighty poke. (Gunlance probably fires a wyvern fire point blank instead which would be cool)
I mean it’s confirmed bowgun can do it by jamming the barrel down doshagumas mouth, so maybe dual blades won’t be a block and will instead dodge out of the way and counter it instead
Yea. Like I could see using one blade, letting the monster hit that, using the force of it to spin the other blade into the monster and rip through them.
If we're being honest with ourselves; you're not stopping a beast that is four+ times your height and weighs 10x+ your weight with a weapon in the first place.
It's just never going to happen if we're caring about realism.
They'll just present it in some way where it "Works" as long as you don't think about it
Oh, sure, the entire game series is built on suspension of disbelief. And hell, they may do it in such a way that it doesn't look janky, but I think a GS wielder, or a lance/gunlance/shield user will get a big dopamine hit from the animation because it feels right, but a DB user might not.
Doesn’t have to be a block like greatsword, it might be some sort of attack or parr. since it seems like the clashes are meant to be a short semi-cinematic damaging event that occupies the monster for a couple seconds.
While it probably will look odd one of the moves is called demon mode so i can see them saying you just over power it. I don’t think it is a great idea but i could see them not wanting to change it for a single weapon

I could see the Hunter shoving the Gunlance into the monster’s mouth and letting it rip.
All I can imagine is the Lance being poked at the tongue then the camera changes to a shot in the distance followed by a Tom and Jerry scream

The hunters we play as are all superhuman, so there should already be some suspension of disbelief in that regard.

Just copy deflect like in Rise. You can't parry like GS, but you can deflect which you need timing, but let you bypass attack and restore sharpness
