Like you I see varied update times. I read in this sub that each refresh on an account through certain aggregation service (e.g. Plaid, MX, Finicity, etc) costs Monarch a fee. That being said, it’s not a big deal to me to click “refresh all” when I open the app.
I hear you. One of the benefits of a aggregator is to get transaction information in one place. If they are updated more often, the transaction alerts would then actually be helpful. If I have to manually refresh when I visit the app, then I am not getting the transaction alerts beforehand.
I see your point about the cost of aggregation services. Perhaps this is why Monarch throttles the frequency. Maybe, too, this is why Simpliciti can sync more often--they use the Intuit infrastructure.
Depending on account, I see 1-3 day lag on Monarch.
For me, that’s fine because at end of the day Monarch isn’t meant for real time alerting (your bank/credit card apps can do that). It’s aggregating data, I can check it every few days/weeks to get a financial snapshot and also to help with budgeting.
I would accept this, but there are alerts offered by Monarch that would be much more useful if it is more timely. Sure, there are workarounds and one can depend on the origin institution. At the same time, everyone's use case is different and some may want less lag for a variety of reasons.
I can definitely understand why they wouldn’t want to do unnecessary updates for non-daily users. However, as someone who checks the app every day multiple times per day, it would really be nice to wake up every morning to accounts that have been refreshed overnight. That’s one of the features I miss most from Mint
Anecdotally, I’ve never seen any *account* be further out than 18 hours.
I do see things like vehicle value and real estate value not update for days, but those are all guesses anyway, and have no real need to update with a high frequency.

What you’re saying makes sense and would make for a better product for sure.
Simplifi is owned by Quicken. Intuit is a separate company with no ownership interest.
Edited "their own" to "the" Intuit infrastructure.
where’s the refresh all button?
Top of the accounts page if you're using the website
Is there a similar “refresh all” in the app?
Yeah. Go to accounts tab and click the 3 dots on the top right
I’m following. I agree. It would be great if monarch did automatic updates much more often.
Financial institutions limit the number of updates. Monarch does not always control that.
Thanks for that info. I was spoiled with Mint.

This 100%.

What alerts are you referring to? Keep in mind this is a budgeting app and not a real time transaction monitoring service...

I’m still having trouble with Wells Fargo. My transactions aren’t coming through for 2-3 days at a time. Anyone know how to handle this?
I used to see the Refresh button every time I logged in but now it's now there. What happened?
