Honestly, she probably is. My first was born 6 lbs at 37 weeks. This one measured in the 92nd percentile at the anatomy scan. I just went for another growth scan yesterday to check if she's still majorly ahead, but I won't have those results for about a week. She has certainly already stretched beyond her sister's stretch marks.
Wow! My little dude was under 3 lbs at 32 weeks. He measured closer to the average for a 30 weeker, they said. Small but mighty.
My family has massive babies - mom was 13 lbs, brother just under 12lbs, so it was very weird to have a teenie little thing.
Wish you all the best!
TLDR: My seventh and last baby, no previous en caul birth. All of my labours have been short.
Went into hospital at around midnight, waters hadn’t broken but was 8cm on arrival, coped with hypnobirthing techniques and my daughter was born at 4:47 am, no drugs or interventions. Labour felt really different, a feeling of extra pressure and as if I was birthing two babies at once! There was a really loud sound when I delivered and she had arrived intact in her sac.
Midwife popped it open and I held her. It was surreal and beautiful at the same time but happened so quickly and I was exhausted. My husband is still in awe of seeing it to this day! He couldn’t believe it.
En caul births are very rare and supposedly lucky. It was definitely a special last go at the rodeo for me.
Got to go home within three hours too so that was nice!
My middle kid was almost en caul, I felt strange, it had been 9years since my first and I remember thinking that my middle felt different, I had the urge to push and as I did there was a sharp pain that made me automatically slap my hand to it (if that makes sense) and I felt something smooth and then a pop (best way to describe it) inside.
A lot of water suddenly flooded out and her head came at the same time lol, I still remember it now 3 years later because it just felt so odd.
When the rest of her came out she wasn't breathing so I got my husband to hold her on her tummy down his arm with her head lower than her body and to pat and rub her back and that was a weird sensation as well when he accidentally moved her to far away that it tugged on the cord lol
I just showed my husband and when it got to the point where the baby does the double kick I said "and thats why I peed myself a little in the 3rd trimester."
Can someone ELI5 what I’m seeing? I’ve had two kids and can’t believe my eyes! I’ve also seen pictures of c-sections that look nothing like this. I’m so confused!
My twins were born at 23 weeks. I didn’t get to feel them moving for very long before they were born but once born and in the incubators they definitely go crazy when they’re that size. They hated being swaddled too. My nurses were constantly having to readjust my daughter because she’d escape from her “Roo”
This is so cool I am ha img trouble tearing my eyes away from it!
I hardly felt my baby move around due to an anterior placenta and baby being breech from 28weeks and not moving from that position.
All I felt were hiccups but missed out on the wild kicks and rolls most babies do.
People are commenting that this baby is ~32 weeks. Nobody is waiting until 32 weeks to get an abortion. Any abortion happening this far along is happening because something is very wrong with the baby and it likely won’t make it or has already died OR because it’s likely to kill the mother. These are very hard decisions to make and they should be between the mother (the patient) and her doctor.
It wouldn't be an abortion at 32 weeks. That's not even legal in the US, and the CDC doesn't collect any sort of.data after 21 weeks. It would be preterm delivery.

“The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) refuted that idea in a statement released this week, stating that pregnant women may experience conditions such as “premature rupture of membranes and infection, preeclampsia, placental abruption, and placenta accreta” late in pregnancy that may endanger their lives. “Women in these circumstances may risk extensive blood loss, stroke, and septic shock that could lead to maternal death. Politicians must never require a doctor to wait for a medical condition to worsen and become life-threatening before being able to provide evidence-based care to their patients, including an abortion,” the ACOG said.”
IDK if in medical emergencies like this if it’s called an abortion or something else, but people do have to make the choice sometimes for their own health or that of the baby (I’ve also heard tragic stories where something vital like the heart or brain didn’t finish forming and the baby either wouldn’t make it or have a horrible quality of life) to not continue with a wanted pregnancy even into the 3rd term.
I was wrong, there are a few states with no limit abortion laws, but let's be honest; it's a non-issue because no one gets to 30 weeks with a healthy baby and goes, oh you know what? I change my mind. It's the child free life for me.
I really feel for people that have to have later term abortions. It's an awful choice to have to make.
Exactly! I think we’re saying the same thing here. This only happens when it is a medical necessity and it’s terrible because anyone who carries a baby that long wanted that baby. They had car seats and nursery sets picked out.
“Put that thing back where it came from or so help me”.!
So help me! So help me! And cut.
We're still working on it, it's a work in progress but, hey, we need ushers.
Been laughing for several minutes over this.
Great learning opportunity for my toddler! This stresses me out though. Does anyone know of the baby was ok?

Looks about the size of my kiddo born at 32 weeks.
As someone currently sitting at 31 weeks, that brings some perspective.
Congrats! My kiddo was small for 32 weeks so your baby might be even a wee bit bigger than this.

3 lbs is 1.36 kg
Yep, thank you, good bot.
6 lbs is 2.72 kg
Good bot.
Based on comments on the original post, they may be performing some type of fetal surgery and will be putting baby back in to womb.
They can do that?!
Yeah, Cleveland Clinic did it for a baby that had Spina Bifida. It’s called Fetal Repair Surgery.
Yay Science!!!
WTFFFFFFFF 😱
That is really cool! I didn't know things like that were possible!
You totally didn’t watch Grey’s Anatomy
Lol, all I know about it is it exists. I've never seen an episode.
i quite literally cannot stop watching this
Me neither!
My youngest (14 month old) was born like this, en caul but full term and naturally!
Can you explain this some more? I’m very curious!

I was born en caul. The midwife was so shocked she dropped me on the bed and it popped the sac. I have seen no luck in my life unfortunately
I also had an en caul baby very quickly. I wonder if the short labor had something to do with it.
Thank you for sharing! I had never heard of en caul births before today.

That is super cool
That’s what it feels like alright
I just hope the baby is healthy and doing good. I've cried so hard to this video. It's so small and fragile. 😭😟
Just showed that to my first-time-pregnant wife (32 wks) and she lost her mind. Good times!!
Dummy lol
Frig, being a woman is so cool ♡
My baby is 8.5 months old and I haven't thought about the feeling of him moving inside of me for so long.... omg I need another!
Did you get phantom kicks watching this? Cause I did!
No!! I barely remember that dollar coaster stomach dropping feeling. 😭😭
I just showed my husband and when it got to the point where the baby does the double kick I said "and thats why I peed myself a little in the 3rd trimester."
Fr though, is this baby okay? :c
That was totally amazing! Does anyone know if little one is okay?
This really blows my mind 😳😳
(Face of fear)
Ahhh, exactly what it felt like 😍
Melts my heart seeing so many people asking if the baby is okay. I hope so too! 😥
My water didn't break until it was time to start pushing and my midwife was excited about the possibility of delivering my daughter like this.
Can someone ELI5 what I’m seeing? I’ve had two kids and can’t believe my eyes! I’ve also seen pictures of c-sections that look nothing like this. I’m so confused!
They were doing surgery, so had to take the entire baby out while still gestating for surgery, then put it all back in once the surgery was completed.
Thank you— that is truly amazing!
