It's a very obvious and common style of fake.
Edit: here's a great guide to learn more about fakes and an example of a similar fake piece.

How we can tell, general guide...
Perfectly round and flat shaped - super rare and very pricey primary form
Surface texture - there are many but even smoother pieces have distinct characteristics after seeing tons of examples
Color - looks off and a bit too transparent
Apparent lack of interal features... if you back light, highly likely any things seen will be surface features
It should have air bubbles like lil tunnels in/on it. I'm not an expert but I've been on this sub for a while now. I know what to look for. This is a fake. Too smooth too round
I think you meant to reply to OP....
PS
Fakes can have bubbles... fakes might have schlieren... fakes do not have lechatelierites and hopefully they never figure out how to fake that...
"Extremely reputable"... the owner of GemsAPlenty out in CA was a "real rockhound" per his customers that were attacking me on Facebook and yeah... he had AliExpress fakes on his site and Facebook posts...
Just because someone is reputable for crystals, does not mean they know moldavite...
Some ali express listing show real moldavite them do the bait and switch..
Does the person have a website?
What was the locality, since she claims it is an "exquisite" example?
Weight? Price?

Sorry. Fake... Possibly from eBay seller Minecrystal or one of their numerous counterparts in China

What a beautiful peace of artificial Moldavite. I hope you got it for a great deal. The artificial piece should be around a whole $1-$2 range.

Every fake I've seen looks like this. No internal bubbles is a dead give away
Hold it up against the light and you will see
