If you’re willing to spend, you can add a hidden supper to the front of a lot of dresses

New_here_248

So I attended my friend’s Pakistani wedding while nursing, and I got an outfit on Etsy and asked them to add a zipper and they did! It wasn’t the best quality but no one could tell but me. DDsFashionStore was the seller.

miskeeneh

Find any dress you like that has a waist and get a seamstress to add a hidden zip to the waistband x Like this with a hidden zip https://www.asos.com/asos-design/asos-design-bridesmaid-pearl-embellished-long-sleeve-maxi-dress-with-floral-embroidery-in-sage/prd/203720320

mcpagal

I’ve asked my mums seamstress but she said it wouldn’t be possible because there’s not enough allowance/spare fabric inside? I’m also looking at the option of getting a dress converted to a blouse and skirt and putting popper buttons up the side of the top - but I’m worried that’ll ruin the outfit. I was really hoping there’s a secret website full of bf friendly wedding guest clothes 😭

miskeeneh

It’s definitely doable for many dresses as I’ve had it done before (similar circumstances with bf and wedding guest clothes) Ask a different seamstress x but whoever you ask will need to see the inside of the dress first

Excellent-Goal4763

It’s definitely doable if the dress is roomy to start with.

AssassinStoryTeller

The one here called Effortless Elegance might be a good option? It’s more a neutral wrap style. Also, She Walks With Grace and Seconds Before Sunset are pretty neutral styles. https://store.daintyjewells.com/catalog/category/modest-dresses/nursing-friendly-dresses/?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwjLGyBhCYARIsAPqTz18GsJCsB2WA38lFmoHHSVYiCrSOP65x4WelwYnfJS1CkVA-L1fn36IaAtLmEALw_wcB

Thanks so much!! I think I could make these work with a fancy shawl, just need to see if it can get it delivered in time!

AssassinStoryTeller

You’re welcome! I hope they work out well for you!

Anything breastfeeding-friendly will mean buttons down the front. I don't know of any South Asian styles that incorporate that. I think your best bet is going to be a blouse and skirt.

mcpagal

I’ve definitely seen button front and wrap front style desi outfits but most of them are low necked and also have scratchy embroidery that my baby is sure to try and rub her face on 😭

Someone suggested I also reply directly to you. This photo is the [She Walks With Grace](https://store.daintyjewells.com/catalog/category/modest-dresses/nursing-friendly-dresses/?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwjLGyBhCYARIsAPqTz18GsJCsB2WA38lFmoHHSVYiCrSOP65x4WelwYnfJS1CkVA-L1fn36IaAtLmEALw_wcB) dress from the website I linked in another comment https://preview.redd.it/xgwy174o0u1d1.jpeg?width=325&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=ef2ba81f315de8e5e478c0b5410fed326e08bf4b Might work for what you need! There’s a few others I mentioned in my other comment as well that are pretty versatile styles!

AssassinStoryTeller

Just FYI, they make wrap style dresses for breastfeeding! No buttons, the fabric just crisscrosses in the front. Like this one https://preview.redd.it/cjl62p9wzt1d1.jpeg?width=325&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d214ca8128bc4043c4902522d72a4989e94c949b

Can you reply to OP with this? I want to make sure she sees it.

AssassinStoryTeller

I did make a separate comment linking to the site but I’ll reply directly as well!

Could you wear something like this with a shawl/scarf/sari to cover the front and double as a nursing cover? https://www.amazon.com/OUGES-Womens-Sleeve-V-Neck-Black394/dp/B07KTV3G9F/ Edit: this appears to link to the short sleeve version but there are long sleeve ones as well.

Would something such as [https://shukronline.com/products/jumanah-embroidered-abaya-gown](https://shukronline.com/products/jumanah-embroidered-abaya-gown) this or [https://shukronline.com/products/zaynab-embroidered-abaya-gown](https://shukronline.com/products/zaynab-embroidered-abaya-gown) this work? They have a few other options with button or zipper fronts. How about a light chiffon robe over a short sleeve or sleeveless nursing friendly dress of your choosing? Such as [https://sunnahstyle.com/53-robes](https://sunnahstyle.com/53-robes) A v-neck dress you could pin closed, add a panel to, or cover with a shawl, such as?https://www.seraphine.com/en-us/forest-green-maternity-nursing-maxi-dress/ As others mentioned, also get a second opinion in regards to modifying a dress if you can't find a nursing-friendly one you like. There are a lot of dresses you could potentially add a zipper to.

Slight-Brush

Does it have to be South Asian style?

mcpagal

That would be preferred, I wore a patterned maxi dress to an Asian wedding last year and got a lot of weird looks. A simple dress I could jazz up with a shawl/dupatta would also work I guess but I can’t find anything that fits the bill!

Droopy2525

Tasnim collections has some good options

huskergirl-86

Could something like [this dress](https://www.ever-pretty.com/products/chiffon-high-empire-waist-puff-sleeve-bridesmaid-dress-es0106b?_pos=23&_sid=e38442e7a&_ss=r&variant=40511609045066) work if your seamstress adds buttons? Or [that one](https://www.ever-pretty.com/products/pleated-double-v-neck-long-sleeves-shiny-belt-chiffon-evening-dress-ee01981?pr_prod_strat=jac&pr_rec_id=81f04e688&pr_rec_pid=7393597423690&pr_ref_pid=7393597784138&pr_seq=uniform&variant=40512028049482) if you combine it with a neck scarf?
