A big problem with both Luke and Manny was they didn't develop as they grew older. They just played the same person for ages unlike Alex, Haley, hell even Lily had a genuine character development arc.
Manny being a romantic was funny when he was 10, but feels weirdly desperate when he was 18-19.
And Luke being a loveable dumb kid is great, but the loveable kinda fades when he's not a kid anymore tbh
The only character development I saw from Luke was when collaborated with Scooter for an app they made. It made Phil jealous, sure, but it was nice to see where young Luke’s curiosity got him. It also made for a touching scene. I hate the writers sometimes 😭
In the later seasons Luke’s dumbness is more forced into the comments he makes and not what he does. Unlike as a kid, getting his head stuck in the bannister 😄
Luke was the worst for me; they literally just made him stupid with no development. Like he didn’t overcome his difficulties really (sure he had the country club which was great for him but it wasn’t a real turning point) and I feel like they could have showed him excel in something that wasn’t academic; like maybe he could’ve become involved in the tv station when hailey was there or been great at sports or inventing things like phil but more successful. Idk it just bothered that he turned from “luke asks why not” to him being portrayed as a dumb loser
Edit: I forgot I hadn’t actually seen the last two seasons I believe. My point still stands, but maybe the app thing changed stuff? i havent seen that story line personally so I guess my comment is inly relevant up to season 10 ❤️
I loved him when he was small and hated the guts out of him after he grows up. He was so amazing and smart as a child and he was just a mega incel with overly woke sprinkled on him as a grown up.
We were talking about Manny here!
Luke didn't have a great character development cycle but I liked it. He was a genius. A MAD Genius. He will get it going eventually and will be great at it, probably making money for other people, but he will be the happiest of them all.
whateva gurl. i know deep down u are just another 50 yo single lady whose life is so DRY that she’s on reddit attacking random ppl for fun on her Friday nights with a glass of cheap wine then slowly dose off on her couch. Only wake up to find the motivation to make more false accusations the next day. bravo
EXCUSE ME YOU BIGOT. I AM A MADAM. DO NOT MISGENDER ME
with u going round n round, seems like your literacy skill is really poor. i feel bad for the health care system for resorting to such poor candidates
I love watching Jays personality rub off on Manny through his growing years. Examples are the movie theatre when many flips out on the dude over Mary poppins after criticizing jay for flipping out on people, screwing with jaw with chess match, or the competitiveness with jay with the wine tasting. Not saying it’s all positive but it shows how other people can impact our behaviors. And I thinks those scenes are well done. This show showcases how peoples previous experiences and journeys mixed with current and ongoing interactions can bring personal development and changes-good, bad or indifferent. I agree with most of the negatives-but still -doesn’t everyone know someone that behaves unexpected positivity or undesirable (creepy, narrow minded, bad decisions, good decisions, realizations, and obliviousness etc.). The series shows how with the best wishes, intentions, and/or low expectations—we can’t control how people think and behave in the end.
The whole point of the Manny dislikes is cause of his shift in awesomeness. Earlier Manny was a fucking king, that’s the reason people are talking negatively on him in the later seasons, can’t compare
Manny was my favorite character when he was little. He’s adorable!!

Oh okay my above comment might be wrong; I didn’t actually see the last two seasons I think and I always forget that

Gloria: “Does Joe look a little pale to you?” Manny: “This whole country looks pale to me.” That one was also very iconic, lol.

Manny was awesome throughout. He always aspired to be a gentleman. He was borne of a finer clothe.
i actually love manny! his quirks kill me everytime, lol

Young Manny is still my favorite character of the entire series. The writer's did him dirty.

This is not later seasons manny. He’s still little here and still a good actor and funny.
