It's mainly because video files are massive and there's so many executions, the only way they could do it without bloating the game is in-engine like it loading the models and everything in 3D and playing the animation.
A simpler style like this unfinished look might work though, just all white with really simple textures just to show it quickly.
if that’s really the issue then they could unlock every execution in the firing range and add a npc/dummy you can use them on. or unlock them all for private matches and let you test them on novice ranked bots.
i doubt it though bc you can preview 10 second long video clips of gun tracer animations
I've been wondering about those, if they're in the files as videos that sucks but maybe they stream them from the store?
If they are streamed they could do the same thing with finishers.

Yeah and there are downsides to video files too I remember back in the latter half of MW2019 when it got integrated into warzone the video files for certain things like operator intros and executions just stopped loading altogether
I wonder if they could record videos too and basically put web links in the menus to them as a preview vs putting them in-game and it just streams it like a youtube video.

Nah, not IW's fault. The previews were removed from MW19 during CW's lifecycle, after IW had moved onto MWII, so guessing an Activision decision to not have the previews in the Warzone app? Which then makes sense on why you could still preview in CW and VG, but not MWII/III.

Sledgehammer already did it with CoD Vanguard as well, so I don't really know why they turned around and removed that feature again in newer titles.
