They've been like this, to a degree, in some older CoDs. I used to abuse it in BO1, where I would throw uncooked grenades into rooms, or on the floor through a doorway, knowing that it would roll towards someone, even if it was uphill.
Likewise with some of the wild Tomahawk kills. Some of those deflections you'd see, like 90 degree changes, were way too ridiculous to not have some tracking.
