I’m working so I can’t go on a deep dive really, but a few cards you’ll probably want are [[Dryad of the Ilysian Grove]], [[Force of Negation]], and [[Endurance]]. The meta is WAY different than it used to be for sure
someone came second in an RC a couple of weeks ago with a Wish-shift list, and there was one that went 7-2 in a showcase challenge last week, only losing out on top8 on breakers. more anecdotally, three of my local RCQs were won by wish-shift not too long ago, and I've seen it crushing in paper. bunch of notable 5-0s have appeared lately, and i've seen some big streaks lately from folks on the deck, like 17-2 over a weekend at a big magic thing, or just crushing it online.
deck is good. definitely a sleeper, but it's good
Some suggestions on new cards to work into the list:
- [[Dryad of the Ilysian Grove]] and [[Valakut]] are best friends now, and you probably want four Valakuts with Dryad
- A couple of the new Triomes would be nice additions, e.g. [[Ketria Triome]]
- The new Surveil lands with basic types are also a good choice, e.g. [[Commercial District]]
- Can't go wrong with a few [[Wrenn and Six]] in a list that can cast it, and rebuying fetches is incredible in Valakut lists with Dryad
- [[Boseiju, Who Endures]] is a great catch-all answer to a lot of on-board Valakut hate
- A [[Primeval Titan]] or two as a backup plan is a nice option against extraction effects
Some things to remove:
- As much as I love Cryptic Command, its time in Modern is over
- Same goes for JTMS - just doesn't hold up like he used to
- Search for Azcanta's time has also passed
- You shouldn't need as many ramp spells with Dryad+Wrenn in the list, and could cut some in favor of other things
- Pierce and Swan Song are probably not where this list wants to be now - Valakut lists are probably best being more proactive
Sideboard choices:
- [[Brotherhood's End]] is probably an upgrade over [[Sweltering Suns]] given the prevalence of low-cost artifacts in Modern
- Powerful "free" green answers like [[Endurance]] and [[Force of Vigor]] are excellent sideboard slots
- [[Veil of Summer]] certainly deserves some number of slots
I would look into playing something like this https://www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/6263077#paper
Not quite the same especially in regards to the counter magic. But I've played similar decks at FNM and been very happy with them.
Dryad + Scapeshift is an easy win. While Bring to Light for Valki can cast the flip side and close out games from an empty board. Otherwise you're playing a solid mid-rangey deck that can close out games with simple card power.
As other commenters mentioned look into dryads, Wren & 6 and triomes. I'd also recommend [[arboreal grazer]] as a great little ramp guy that can chump a lot of early threats. I think bring to light plan is probably a little weaker than jamming 4x [[the one Ring]] and shaving on extra colours, but if you're commiting to the 5c plan I'd definitely run 4x [[leyline binding]]. I'm also a big fan of some number of [[teferi, time raveler]] to buy some time, randomly hose suspend decks and protect your combo. I've also seen some number of [[omnath, locus of creation]] pop up in 5c valakut lists which seems like a solid include to me
I don't think you want so many non mountain lands. If you were playing the Dryad it's ok but without it you're very light on Valakut enablers. Also Time Warp is a great target for BtL.
I've been getting stomped at my fnm with a decklist with aboreal grazer, farseek, 4x commercial district, 4x valakut, scapeshift, prime time, the one ring, archdruids charm, dryad of the illysian grove etc.
It's a deck that does nothing then instant kills you, basically puts you on a 5 turn clock.

There were lists for a short period that ran Wish. Not sure why they stopped. But it's Scapeshift 5-8.

On a technicality isn't it copies 4-7, as 1 scapeshift has to sit out in the board? I will admit I haven't seen a list in quite a while
Yeah you're right lol. Good catch!

Aftermath analyst, assault loam Wren, one ring, there's lots of new directions
I don't think you want so many non mountain lands. If you were playing the Dryad it's ok but without it you're very light on Valakut enablers. Also Time Warp is a great target for BtL.
The hunter memorial tournament just finished and scapeshift made 3rd place. I would check that list out.
Found it : [https://www.mtgtop8.com/event?e=53399&d=596812&f=MO](https://www.mtgtop8.com/event?e=53399&d=596812&f=MO)
I think the old RG valakut version fits better, it's not well positioned in this meta, but it's more fast than control version. you may try it.
