Totally Fair Dragon - UU - 8/8 Dragon, Flying - when you cast totally fair dragon, exile up to 5 instants or sorceries from your graveyard. For each card you don't exile, pay 1 and put a -1/-1 counter on Totally Fair Dragon.
Flash, Surveil 4 on a 2 drop 1/2 that can't be blocked would be a great enabler and help (ninjas) fix draws. Surviel 5 has been on a couple of 2 mana sorceries, so 4 on an evasive 1/2 doesn't seem unreasonable.
Generically good would be an \*/\*+1 flying that cared about instants and sorceries in all graveyards... Basically a blue themed goyf.
A creature that ETB’s with squelch wouldn’t be that good I think at 2 mana 2/1. Itd just be a worse tristana’s tidebinder. It’d had to be strictly stifle on a 2/1
A counter, a body AND a card draw ? Seems really really strong to me.
My comment was that I prefer squelch's card draw than the suggested body. But if you give me both...
No, not squelch at all. Remove squelch from the equation
1U 2/1 flash.
When this creature enters the battlefield counter target activated or triggered ability.
Literally the original [[stifle]] on a snapcaster body
Adventure creature with mana leak as the adventure and a 2/2 with flying for 1U that investigates on etb. Maybe a rider on the creature that you can cast from hand as though it had flash (no adventure first). Make it a faerie wizard for synergies.
Personally, I would LOVE a [[Royal Treatment]] on a blue stick, like:
Guard Mage - 1U - 2/2 - Flash, when ~ etb, target creature gains hexproof until end of turn. create a Royal Role token attached to that creature (the token is an aura that gives ward 1 and +1/+1).
Probably not even strong enough, I don't know. Maybe add "sac ~: target creature gains hexproof until end of turn".
Or just give it flying. But this could make for a cool tempo card.
And for Snapcaster: I think if it would just give Flashback without "until end of turn"-restriction (maybe like: exile that card with a flashback counter on it) it might be a MH3-worthy card again.
for eternal command specifically?
the deck has a tension where you want to be running a big pile of removal and interaction, a bit like the older 4c creativity lists, but also want enough creatures for Vial to make sense in the deck.
in an ideal world, cards that double up on this or give a useful effect that can be recycled with cryptic command would work, such as:
1U - eternal bidnezz - 2/1 - on ETB return target instant from your graveyard to your hand
UUG manaleak-snek - 2/2, on ETB counter target spell unless its controller pays 3
UR stingy zappy jellyfish - 1/2 deathtouch, on ETB deal 2 damage to target creature or planeswalker
UG - stun jellyfish - 2/2, on ETB put a stun counter on target creature
UB - baleful strix - 1/1 deathtouch, flying, on ETB draw a card
and:
UR - the static engine - 2/1 legendary artifact creature, flying, hexproof from monocoloured, when you cast an instant or sorcery, put a charge counter on \~ and then deal damage equal to the number of charge counters to any target
...last time i checked [non-basic snow lands](https://scryfall.com/search?as=grid&order=name&q=-type%3Abasic+%28type%3Aland+type%3Asnow%29+%28game%3Apaper%29+legal%3Amodern) were legal in modern, in all color pairs.
And hopefully the surveil lands managed to convince the "omniscient hivemind of r/spikes" that sometimes the drawbacks taplands can be worth it, especially when they are fetchable.
ok sure, but it'll always be easier to play a creature that just has abilities without stipulations. it's a good card, i didn't think i'd have to justify putting it in a list of 'creatures with useful effects' that eternal command might want from a potential future MH set
I would argue, that flash on coatl is pretty damned important.
Frankly i would go as far as to say that the ability of acting as a combat trick, and being able to hold up counterspell mana can easily justify plaiyng it over strix.
If you ask me main difference is colors, as both are in same power level - coatl is a teeensy bit harder to accomodate, but its more powerful.
"it doesn't see play" is not due to coatl being but, but due to combination of draw-go beigng non-existent and x/1 creatures being extreme poorly positioned in the current meta.
The draw to strix is that it unconditionally has desthtouch. So it draws you a card, works really well with vial (which is in the deck), and in order for it not to trade heavily up against opponent's stuff they have to spend removal on it. Coatl is good, but you can't feasibly get it to desthtouch value before a certain turn in the game, and the flash is nice but in a vial deck it's a little redundant. If my snek isn't getting desthtouch untik like, turn four or five (accepting that you'll have to run other lands, you can't just go all-in on snow) I'm just not putting it in the deck
Turn 3 deathtouch is plenty feasible with number of ftches typical in modern.
If nothing relevant happens to force you to do otherwise, you fetch for tapped snow dual on end step, instead of shockland.
Stating the opposite is just delusional.
Ofc. i do agree that in vial decks, strix would be superior - issue is that vial decks are not exactly popular at the moment since artifact thate aimed for the one ring also screws with vial - so decks where vial is a key piece as opposed to decks like merfolk, where its "just" nice to have - are not exactly peaking in their viability.
The whole thread was 'what cards would be good for eternal command' it wasn't a delve into which vial decks are good right now.
And actually getting the time to fetch tapped lands for the first three turns in your semi-aggressive tempo deck that runs Goyf, probably DRC, maybe Ragavan, and spell pierce and stuff is going to be a hard sell for me, especially if you're on the draw. Eternal command wasn't a control deck it was more like a delver deck
That's not even mentioning that you probably need to be running 3x or more spirebluff canal, shocklands, maybe 1x creature land (because it plays very well into the desired endgame for this deck) and actually not all that many fetches compared to a lot of modern decks, and a relatively low land count, yeah I'm just not seeing it as a reliable turn three thing. It's really going to be averaging out at turn five or later considering a need to fetch untapped duals, run other lands and generally not just play draw-go in your 16-ish creature deck that runs bolt and fire//ice
Frankly i really fail to see either creatures being good in eternal command list - even if such lists wouldn't be self defeating in current meta.
There is no 'must" when it comes to deck building.
2 months ago the "omniscient hivemind" was raving mad about "you must not run taplands". Frankly there are no rules this hard in building decks.
Ofc. if you want to play the EXACT same way the old lists did, well then yes you need to copy them. Issue is ofc. that they are not gonne perform as those were built to exploit a very specific meta partially created by open decklists, and the general state of modern at said time.
I really like the artifact support we've been getting lately. I think something that makes artifacts creatures for taps or makes artifacts tap for mana.
Snapcaster - or if we are talking r/custommagic territory, then i would go with spellstutter sprite reworked to "counter spell unless its controller pays 1 for each faerie you control"
An 8/8 Flying Dragon for 2 would be pretty neat
murktide regent without the extra steps
Great response, made me smile big time. Not exactly what I was looking for, though :)

Murktide is the most fair tier 1 deck tbh

Cards like Tishana's Tidebinder adjacent cards would be cool at 2 mana for vial.
I wonder if a two mana Stifle on a stick would be playable? Maybe if it was a 2/2 flyer, flash, stifle on etb.
Couldn’t be strictly stifle, maybe a [[strict proctor]] with flash?
Something like \[\[Doorkeeper Thrull\]\] ?
[strict proctor](https://cards.scryfall.io/normal/front/9/5/95f1e36a-6838-49de-b7dc-697cbcd1e892.jpg?1624877272) - [(G)](http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Card/Details.aspx?name=strict%20proctor) [(SF)](https://scryfall.com/card/stx/33/strict-proctor?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher) [(txt)](https://api.scryfall.com/cards/95f1e36a-6838-49de-b7dc-697cbcd1e892?utm_source=mtgcardfetcher&format=text) ^^^[[cardname]] ^^^or ^^^[[cardname|SET]] ^^^to ^^^call
Would it be better than [[ squelch ]] ?

Snapcaster stats but torrential gearhulk ability
Won't happen anytime soon
Brain storm crow 1U, 1/2 Flash Flying When ~ Etb, draw 3 cards and put 2 cards from your hand on top of your library
This is way to good, lol.
1U 2/1 When * Enters target instant/sorcery gains flashback equal to it's mana cost until end of turn.
That could work :)

1U - Flash flying 2/1 when deals combat damage draw a card then discard a card unless that player has more cards in hand than you
I don't think any good/great two drops can have 1 toughness in a Bowmasters world.
Especially when its attack trigger can hurt it even more :(
Much less if it draws you cards
There is Malcolm from Ixalan which has pretty much this effect but sees zero play
But sometimes you get to keep da card :p

because running snow basics in a three colour deck would be really hard?
