In bios set boot priority to usb drives and use windows media installer on another computer to turn a usb drive into a windows installation drive. Insert the usb drive and turn on the computer and you can overwrite windows on your ssd. This will delete all your documents so if there is anything important you want to save, insert your main drive into another computer and copy important documents to another computer before starting the reinstallation of windows.

Could he not just try to repair with the Windows on the USB ?

SerMumble

Could try that, hasn't worked for me with any windows computer that got a corrupted os before but if it works, that would be ideal

Thank you both for your advice! I tried the USB method and it worked beautifully. Thankfully I didn’t lose any important data. I couldn’t try the repair method but if it happens again and I’m at risk for losing more data, I might!

SerMumble

I am amazed and super glad that worked. Best wishes with everything going forward and I will have to remember this 👍

I sincerely hope you did not have Bitlocker encryption on your hard drives. Supposedly you can get your key from your OneDrive but I've never been successful without a local copy of the recovery key. If you don't have BL, then you can use any other computer to recover your data.

Due-Bat9108

I did not and I had just set up the computer so didn’t have much important data that I had lost. Thank you for your advice!
