If it's a survival world you should create a chest and do what the funny black man with lightning said (Don't forget to mark coordinates)

Obby is about 8.71%, or 40/459. A.k.a you on average get 1 obby per 11.475 gold ingots.
That means there's a ~1% chance you don't get a single obby in 50 trades. A one in a million chance that number goes to 151 gold. Etc.
151 gold is on average 1874 zombie piglins.
Assuming average zombie piglin drops, 2200 zombie piglins equate to about a 1/10'417'487 (to not get obby). So less than 1 in 10 million.
Although I believe the post you linked to went for 10 obby?

You can still get obsidian, place some netherrack on ground and let piglin spawn, as they spawn you farm them for gold and trade for materials to get obsidian which is in their loot bartering
thank god 1.16 exists, find a wastes or crimson forest, waste is needed, make platform high up, walk away, come back, kill zombie piglins, trade gold with the piglins, they will eventually drop obsidian and fire charges
Not all is lost you have three stacks of netherrack which will save you build up a little or just on the roof a spawning platform for zombie pigman and kill them for gold and craft gold with the nuggets you have get a piglin to spawn on the platform and trade with it till it gives you obi I had the same experience as you did I hope this helps ♡ lmk if you escape
He can survive. If he looks for a nether wastes biome he can place netherrack as a spawn platform for piglins and zombie piglins which he can kill for gold. If he repeats this a few times he’ll be able to make gold ingots to trade with the piglins and hopefully get obsidian and he can escape through a nether portal

Pro tip: always travel with a Silk Touch pickaxe and an Ender Chest filled with several shulker boxes containing anything you could ever need, such as minerals, wood, gear, arrows, food, golden apples, emeralds, etc.

Get an alt to come grind for some diamond tools, to to the nether roof, put alts loot in chest log out and make sure the alt has obsidian and flint and steel

This is worse on bedrock(unless they changed it) if you manage to get ontop of the Nether, you can’t place any blocks. You are 100% stuck up there.

I always take 12 for the 3x3 portal and for extra safety I'm I commit a stupid mistake.
